Bertram sir, you are a true “Craftsman” in so many ways, at such a young age, it’s difficult for me to imagine that you’ve Not been blessed from birth. We’re all in awe here at your expertise and perseverance. The birds songs in the background are soothing and beautiful. Well done sir!
Quest'estate andiamo a fare campeggio!!!! Sei un mito per noi! I tuoi modi, i tuoi gusti, il tuo stile e' davvero inarrivabile!!! Ciao dall'abruzzo (italia)
Hello friends. let us be grateful to our friend who posted this video sharing knowledge. It doesn't cost anything to like and make a simple comment. It is the least we can do in gratitude for his work. thank you!
Beautiful , marvelous !! The footage has a remarkable quality as your adzle . No music , no talking, just your work and the birds singing. Perfect. Congratulations from the mountains of Serra da Mantiqueira MG Brasil!
It is the purest of pleasures to watch a Master Craftsman at work. I'm completely in awe of the skills you show in your videos - many thanks from the UK.
You are living life my friend. It seems with how you present your videos (the best in raw, naturalistic cinematography) you are working your way towards building a log cabin. The videos & things I can learn from all that...priceless. Granted the videos you present now are gems...
I want to thank you. I will not be a blacksmith, though after watching you working wood with all the handtools, like a handdrill, I got myself those tools, and am now learning to work with those. It makes me less depending on electricity. I think electricity will go down in the near future, and it will be important to have the tools and the knowledge how to use those. Most people here only use the powertools, and don't even have the old tools anymore. I'm grateful! I hope you will have your drivers license soon! Much love!
@g % Not too long ago Puerto Rico was without electricity for a year or so, over a hurricane, earthquakes can cause trouble with the electric net, if it is a nuclear plant, there is a whole list of things that can happen, and so on. What I am waiting for is a big CME, for there are all kinds of issues in space. A CME can burn the transformators used for the net, and those are humongous, so not easy to replace. There are not even enough to replace them, and it takes a while to make one. There are lots of things going on. You can try Sott with the series Earthchanges, and if you want to see even more, try WSO, or any of the many other channels that are looking into things. I am not going to say more here, for if you want to know, you can find it all. Be it that nobody can say for sure what it is, and what it will bring. Have a great day!
@g % Me cavewoman, I would not know how to generate electricity, nor do I like the use of powertools. Each his/her own. I have oldfashioned skills, that may help. :) Have a beautiful day!
Brilliant craftsmanship; I would be so happy with myself if I had forged that! I also really like your approach to using reclaimed materials. Turning scrap into such useful, personal items.
I like it that after you make a tool, you show yourself using it. It gives some context, and emphasizes that these are indeed tools and not decorations

I don't know what it is but i can seriously watch this for days . It's almost therapeutic with just the sounds hammers clanging and the sound of ping of the anvil.
This is what I love about blacksmithing, if you need a tool, make a tool. Making things to sell is nice and all, but there is a certain satisfaction from using tools that you have made for yourself.
Wow!! Bertram.. that’s a beautiful tool you made there!! And the tiring process of hand/foot hammering it to a new form.. it’s really beautiful. Thank you for opening a window to your solitary lifestyle.
Once again, I go to sleep less dumb thanks to your videos. Not only did I learn what an adze is, but I also have an idea of how to make it. Thank you :)
Nice work. I love your perfection and another one is no power tools and traditional hand made tool also nice to see and mind relaxing one, thanks for uploading
The utter satisfaction that one feels when he can fashion metal & wood into a tool to create object of use, utility and beauty must settle a divinity in oneself.
beautiful detail of the adze, and the simple strait grain of the ash is a perfect match for this wonderful tool. I am a begining to learn the craft of smithing, but very far form your skill level. plus your carving skills with your axes while holding the peice with your hand is both refreshing and encouraging. be safe sir. thanks fred
I am a Machinist, so I work with a lot of computer-controlled Manufacturing. Knowing how much time I put into making even a simple part, especially on manual machines, only increases the respect I have for people who work entirely with hand tools. I would love to do some blacksmithing once I get my own house, but I might be pretty busy by that point ;)

Love watching the birth of a good tool. Makes me appreciate the tools I have.

The man is an artist, in his artisanal crafts and also as a film maker. Thank you Bertram...
It was enjoyable to watch you use the procession of tools that you have been making. A beautiful adze
Without any gloves! A hands of a real worker man! Respect from Belarus.
Restores ones faith in people watching these videos. Craftsman artist of the highest order. Many thanks.

Fascinating handcraft! Never seen anything like that before. It's really a peace of art. Beautiful!
every time i watch your video i feel im watching back to the future. nice vids
I like how you use all YOUR tools. So cool.
I really like the camera angle looking across the anvil towards the treadle hammer and of course the adze is spectacular.
Thank you Black Bear Forge. I did subscribe to your channel about a year ago and I have seen most of your videos. Love what you do.
Love the chain pulley system with the 30lb sledge. You sir could be sent back in time and fit in unnoticed easily.
Thanks for video)

That step hammer is the most badass thing I've seen in a while
You're an artist in everything what you're doing. Simply perfect. Always enjoying your meditative videos very much, thank you.
Genial!!!!
Rune Malte, that was one of a few times I have ever seen someone oil the handle before they mounted the head. Thank you, for all you share with us.

Beautiful work. For us in the Czech Republic, this ax is called Teslice. I recently made a wooden trough with her.
That hammer stepping machine ya made is SICK too!:) Great adze!

When an artist decides to do blacksmithing .
