1) I am jealous you get to be friend with Torbjorn. 2) I really respect that you filed the axe profile when you had a huge belt grinder (I would have filed it too) and 3) I think you’re extremely brave to buff an edge with an angle grinder.
Truly delightful to watch the synergy between people forging together!
I started carpentry with hand tools a few years ago. I never expected to do so much work with axe/hatchet: shaping stool/bench legs, roughing out all sorts of things, splitting wide boards, etc. Even hewing short logs to make benches. My tool is too soft to hold an edge for long and too thick to chop with little effort. I was just thinking how nice it'd be to invest in a quality tool like this one when you said you'd be giving it away. I hope it goes to someone who will get a lifetime of delightful use from it!
My favorite part of blacksmithing is working with a friend. Having a striker and learning how to communicate what and how to do. Its such a fun and giving experience.
Torbjorn wire brushing his anvil when his phone rang is probably the most underrated joke of the century
Two masters at work! Couldn't ask for a better video! Great work👍
What a star studded crew. The axe is wonder. I really like the treatment of the handle. Torbjorn's arrival was terrific.
No job I know of is harder with two people. Thanks for showing us your struggles. Makes me feel better about struggling while trying to accomplish something by myself.
It never ceases to amaze me how blacksmiths turn lumps of metal into the most useful and versatile tools. I love watching such videos.
It always a treat to see both of you working together!
Unfortunatly Nick never answered the call to receive the axe, so I had to pick another winner:
simon myers
If I dont hear from him/her I will pick another winner in 7 days
The giveaway will end 1st September. I will then ask the winner here in the comment section to contact me via email.
The winner will be selected randomly!
Good luck :)

Two of my favourite blacksmiths forging an beautiful axe together... woud really like to own this axe. I hope I am the lucky one! I am already waiting for your next videos 😊
Sign me up for the axe. Thanks for the video.
Great video! ive been making small knives and decorative pieces for a while but want to break into axe forging. How well does 1045 hold up durability wise over time? I'd imagine using somethin low carbon for the head and then forge welding 1080 or 1095 for the blade would be longer lasting no?
gimme gimme!
Wonderful piece for sure. Throw my name in the hat please sir.
Torbjorn to the rescue! This is an awesome collaboration! I love how he zoomed over! Great looking axe! Wonderful video Nils ❤🔥🪓
I have one long time friend who is a blacksmith. He has a T shirt that says "It's a Polyhammerous thing" Loved it! Me, I am into wood. Metal maybe in another life line....
Very nice cooperation. Thorbjorn's arrival was super arranged. More videos like this.👍
I generally work alone, but you've inspired me to find a blacksmith friend with whom I can work and laugh together. Great video.
Got my 18yo son at up with a forge n anvil. We have made our own hammers, tongs, and some hardy tools. It's something fun and useful we can learn to do together! Ty for your videos! They give us tips, and techniques if we watch carefully.
Better plot than most adult movies.... awesome axe, it shows two highly skilled craftsmen worked on it.
I really appreciate the craftsmanship you both share, it’s an ancient art but it’s not antiquated!
My good friend, Michael, was a remarkable forger. I would have shared this with him; but, sadly, he has passed.
Thank you both. 🙂
you 2 are AWESOME together
As a fan of antique tools, it's refreshing to see someone working in the old methods, making virtually everything by hand, rather than taking a modern tool or leftover bit of material and modifying it with power hammers, saws, and grinders. THIS is blacksmithing. Well done, Lads, very good indeed. Very impressive.
I wish I had such friends that come so quick when I call them
As do I. But I'm the friend they all call. 🤷🏻♀️

Great work for the both of you! Love to see my two fav blacksmiths in youtube working together again
Superkul tävling! Det var du och Torbjörn som fick mig att börja smida
Mature adults need to have fun too. Never apologize for loving what you do.
Using tools to make tools, well done to you both. Beautiful piece, who ever receives that will hopefully utilize it for its intended purpose.
Hadde vært kult å fått denne øksen over grensen til Norge😁 du lager en kjempe bra kanal👍🏻
Came for TA and stayed for both! Great workmanship and team work...
That's awesome! My first time on the channel!
your video came up as a suggestion, and I had to watch as my Grandfather was a blacksmith, as well as a builder, carpenter and farmer, he was a true pioneer here in Australia. loved watching your work, and seeing the finished product.
I loved the way you filmed the video of your friend coming to the rescue my wife and I were laughing so much, good luck for the future.😊
Great to watch mates having fun in the shed creating memories.
This video make my day!!! I am 73 and today it is 113 deg. in Texas. So I am stuck inside the house.
By Hammer and Hand All Arts Do Stand. Thanks so much for sharing. Mesmerising and inspiring. I currently work for a local authority overseeing Children’s Services, within a deprived city in the UK. Due to the terrible things I see and hear everyday, my own mental health has deteriorated to the point that I am currently on an extended break from work to recover. A big part of my recovery has been watching your videos. I am so inspired, I have decided to enrol on a three day beginner’s Smithing course, so thank you. I can’t wait.
Great job, Master! And Thornbjorn’s participation in the work is a separate amazingly positive aspect of the work! Thank you!👍👍👍
nothing like watching phenomenal craftsmen create a wok of functional art.
What a lovely piece. I don't care what anyone says, your acting skills are fabulous.
Been watching Torbjorn for years. Looking forward to watching your vids.
Alltid kul att kolla på dig och Torbjörn när ni jobbar.
Hoppas yxan hittar till Värmland!
Great collaboration by my two favorite blacksmith.
I know presses and power hammers make life easier, but there’s such a majesty in doing things totally by hand, wonderful
please do more videos together . absolutely fantastic axe
I'll copy the 45 degrees punch, It's great for this old man. I don't like walking around the anvil as in my youth.
That wagon is some super transporter
The two of you are alsome, Double Thanks Thanks
My grand-grand father was a blacksmith (maréchal-ferrant in French) and your vidéo reminds me old, really old but good moments with him in front of the fire. Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏
This has been a great channel to find. I go to The American College of the Building Arts (ACBA), which is a school for traditional trades such as blacksmithing. On the other hand, I am a timber framer and have made many friends with my blacksmithing classmates, who recommend me to Torbjorn and your channels. They have been a joy to watch.
Very nice looking hatchet! Very well done guys!!❤️🪓💚
Fire & muscle, forging a hustle
Sweat & steel pays for the meal
Dirt & grime takes all my time
Yet a blacksmith's trade
will never fade
Great job on the axe
Keep on hammering!! 😎
It’s nice to have friend who answer so fast 😁 And he goes sideways 🤣
Super video- thanks for a great demo!
Beautifully done! I have a Tormek grinder also, I put a 10 CBN wheel on it works great, no more dressing the wheel. Thanks for sharing!
15:02 It is absolutely mesmerizing watching tools appear from a block of steel! Thanks to the both of you for sharing your craft.
Excellent video, thank you for taking the time to share your skills.
Greetings from Ireland. It's great to see two masters at work together.
Great collaboration from two amazing smiths! Cheers from the great state of Texas.

Nice and funny video - loved the way he rushed to come and help out.

Your friend has great taste in cars.
I love hand tools. Great steel and beautiful timber make me feel linked to everything that is human.
Hard to find such well made tools. I'm 71 and think the best tools are the ones that were hand made. Enjoyed the video.
Splendid tool. Finely edged.
Ever since i got my hands on a real Gränsfors Bruk axe i have been tempted to get an carpenters axe but never got around to it. Really appreciate your and Torbjörns work!
Muy buen video, yo sigo hace años a Torbjörns y ahora fue muy bonito verlos juntos!!! Felicitaciones.... ;-)

Gotta love some good old fabrication. I always admire the the old school forgers who shape metal into cool projects. Great work.
I've enjoyed following Torbjorn for some time. Now I have Nils to follow as well! Very cool stuff indeed.
Just recently found your channel after researching some axes I found metal detecting. Started with restoring others’ work and now finding the inspiration from your videos to slowly step into the forging world. Thanks for the great content and keeping the craftsmanship alive! In a world of mass production, it’s extremely refreshing to see you and others do what you do.
My favorite Blacksmith team 💙
You both are lucky to have each other helping
Thanks for showing
Very nice hand axe. I’ve been admiring Torbjorn’s work for a number of years. This is the first time I’ve seen Nils Ogren’s work. Will definitely check him out.
Thank you for reminding us that this level of quality CAN be attained by hand, without the use of expensive power hammers. Just need a friend! :)
That was fun to watch - thank you both.
Love the attitude with friends like this
Awesome Video! I enjoyed watching two Masters at their Craft made the beautiful axe and having a great time doing it!

Nils, you and Torbjorn, are amazing smiths and makers, i wish I could have one of your axes, and with this opportunity, you and torjborn on the same piece, its absolutely prescious, i want that!!
The best thing about this video is two friends hanging out and doing what they like doing.
