I have received this chisel in my possession. You have used the chisel in good faith, and now I will use it. First, I intend to sharpen them until they are ready for use. I think those hours will be very meaningful and enjoyable for me. Thank you so much for making this chisel.
When I visited Japan. I saw something very beautiful in a hewn beam. It was beautifully finished. Looked like dragon scales. Was wondering if you knew how that was done?
You know... It's not just Mr. C's outstanding knowledge and skill. It's his wife's careful filming and editing, as well. You combine all that and you get little gems like these videos. Those chisels look fantastic. Well done.
That was soothing to watch. Thank you Mr. Ozaki for commissioning these beautiful tools so that we all could share in seeing them forged. Well done Mr. Chickadee! Well done!
when I saw the caption "layout for grinding" i thought to myself oh wow Mr. Chickadee has got himself an electric grinder but then I see him reach for the Bastard File. My goodness what a labout of love and true craftsmanship. Much respect
Wow. Damn high praise to be commissioned for a job like this by a Japanese temple builder! 😳 Talk about a perfectionist. They nonetheless have the right guy for the job... 👍
That was really impressive work. No marshmallow of mine ever helped to build a Japanese Temple! The template and your finished product in steel look exactly the same! Very impressive.
Really enjoyed this. I recently lost my little grey cat Tink who is a carbon copy of your cat. Watching yours help unpack the wooden chisels brought back wonderful memories of her. I played the beginning several times.
Another beautiful work of craftsmanship. Thank you for letting us enjoy this too. I absolutely love how he crafted wooden representations of what he wanted for you to work off of.
Beautiful work. Very calming, soothing to watch--I love watching specialists at their craft, and most especially the old ways. I feel like your client will love these. Thank you!
There is always something about doing file work that just puts you in a deep meditation, I love doing file work.! I think file work is one of the most relaxing and satisfying things you can do. Great work on the Chisels, I hope Mr. Ozaki enjoy using those beautiful chisel! Great Job, Mr Chickadee!
The art is found in the patience, the patience is found in the not settling for good enough. Beautiful craftsmanship, enjoyed watching. Thanks for the video, really enjoyed watching.
I dig that you are still rocking your warm weather boots! …the old issued beanie gave ya away back when… glad to see some of us finding our own after. RAH, and Semper.
It was a wonderful video. The number of mechanical tools in the workshop has increased, and I think we will be able to create wonderful works in the future. Craftsmen have many tools, so I don't know in what situations the client, Mr. Ozaki, will use this chisel, but I hope that this rounded chisel will become his favorite tool.
Awesome job forging those tools Josh. They turned out fantastic and should give Mr. Ozaki years of excellent use in his trade. Stay safe and keep up the great videos . Fred.
Always a treat to have you share these wonderful skills and projects with all of us! I always appreciate your patience and willingness to share what you learn. I must also say that the editing, camera angles and all of the other things that go into producing these gems is not lost on me! Keep up the great and inspirational work! And again thanks for sharing these with us all!
Beautiful work, as ever. I laughed upon reading your client's comment about "now I need to sharpen it"! I wish my chisels and planes stayed anywhere near as sharp as this, even when you were just "testing" it. 😂
I used to visit Mankato, Minnesota frequently back in 2015-2019 because I had a girlfriend that lived there. It was an interesting place with a lot of history and a surprising amount of industry.
Supply and demand issues in Japan notwithstanding, given how incredibly good Japanese chisel makers are, to be commissioned by a Japanese builder to make custom chisels for him is a testament to your skill and expertise. Bravo.👏👏👏🫡🇺🇸 Semper Fi.
The video has a very loud background hum at around maybe 14..18Hz and it's driving me nuts. This might not be a huge problem for most people but I've got a supermassive subwoofer tuned for ultra low frequencies and it's going bananas, shaking the whole room and pounding my chest without me being able to hear it lmao Nice work as always with the craftsmanship!
Though Mr Chickadee sharpened the chisels correctly and razor sharp, I guess Mr chantarokichi was compelled to ceremonially re-sharpen them to make them his own before using them.

Youre very welcome!
When I visited Japan. I saw something very beautiful in a hewn beam. It was beautifully finished. Looked like dragon scales. Was wondering if you knew how that was done?
It seems to me like being commissioned by a japanese artisan, particularly one who does ceremonially important work, is very high praise. Well done!
It's definitely meaningful in regard of the high tool making abilities and standards in Japan

I'm so happy you've posted another video Mr. Chickadee. Those are beautiful pieces of work!
Even though I read "Let's do our best!" all I could hear in my head was "Ganbatte!"
Outstanding!
yes!
Wow. Damn high praise to be commissioned for a job like this by a Japanese temple builder! 😳 Talk about a perfectionist. They nonetheless have the right guy for the job... 👍
Those chisels are the perfect marriage of beauty and service.

Beautiful work Josh! Now we need Mr. Ozaki to film himself working with those precision instruments!
سعيد برؤية اعمالكم رجاء الا يتأخر كل جديد مع اطيب الاماني بالصحه وبالتوفيق دائما
Work like this is a prayer to work. You bestow a blessing on one who creates shelters for blessings.
After Hattori Hanzō fine japanese swords, there are Mr. Chickadee handmade chisels 🤩
A great honour to receive such a commission, and an equally great honour for Mr Ozaki to receive such fine tools!
I'm a woodworker yet I'm always fascinated by metal working.
Thank you so much for posting.

The world seeks out a master craftsman.
So very glad to see you again. Those two chisels are very special. They will serve him well for a long time.
Of course everything looks beautiful, you have a great cinematographer showcasing your excellent work. Hope you two are doing well.
Thanks so much!
You have to be the toughest, most skilled, willing to learn person I've ever seen. Good for you!

Such excellent work! I learned so much about the process.
A master at work.
Gorgeous work, with exceptional attention to detail.
Btw. That machinist dye comes in a spray can too. Used to use it to metal finish car panels.
I take much inspiration from you and your work. Thank you for the great work.
Cool to see you venturing in to metal. :)
Better than I could do right now. Congrats Mr C and Mr O. Great work.

Great video! We only knew Little Giant for stuff like poultry feeders and buckets! Handy helper for you! 😎✌️
Excellent craftsmanship.
The British Shorthair Blue’s are such lovely cats. Your Charles looks just like m old cat who we called Bruin.
True craftsman

Oh my word, you have a little Giant . I haven't seen one of those decades. They were built in my hometown of Mankato MN. Nice work.
Its a huge help
Thank you for another excellent video!
Ottimo lavoro.... come sempre
Gyönyörü munka,gratulálok.
Doing pretty good work. Might want to consider making a clamp that fits in that pritchel hole. Makes marking easier. Especially for a touch mark.
Excellent.
Outstanding work 👏👏
Awesome job 👍
Love the Russian Blue 😻

Gobsmacked and speechless come to mind. And to think this used to be common behavior.
Wonderful stuff to watch. The only downside was I thought the birds were outside my window!
Very cool and awesome video .

The Kokichisels!
We missed where/how you put the bevel on them!
A fine job my friend. 👍✝️🇺🇲🙏
Wow

Was just thinking about you guys the other day and hoping you both are doing well.
