Curious what the normal workflow for adding the animation to your final video. Say you have a 12 minute video and you are adding animation over parts of it. Would you just import the whole video or parts of the video? When done with the animation, would export just the animation and layer back in your final video timeline? Export both the video and animation and replace that part in the final video?
For me it depends on the situation. If I’m just adding hand drawn animations to a video then I’ll import the whole video and animate over it in Procreate Dreams. But if I’m working on a project with more complex motion graphic elements then I will export animation and bring it into my video program.
There isn’t a feature that does that. My work around has been to adjust the length of each animation frame. So if my project is 24 fps and I want the animation to be 12 fps, I will double the length of the animation frames that I drew. You can select all your frames and with one finger pressed down on the timeline you can drag one frame edge to increase all the frames.
@Thanks, I appreciate the reply! I’m a beginner with animation and I’ve started with just animating text. I figured out that I can just animate over a transparent background and put it at whatever frame rate I desire then in premiere I just slap it over my video.
Hey sorry for the late reply. Fresco has a lot of amazing animation features though currently it doesn’t support importing video. So if you wanted to use fresco you would create the animation in fresco and then export it and bring it into another program to overlay the animation over the video footage.
What version are you on? If you're on Procreate Dreams 1.0.8 or later then you should be good to add video without adjusting compatibility as they fixed the issues that caused video problems. That was a workaround Procreate team had users doing before they fixed the issues.
Hi! I liked the tutorial! Well done! The only thing that I didn't succeed to export the whole video together with my animation. Only the animation was exported. Is there any solution to this?
@warlockoffasshai I haven't experienced this. What method did you use to export the video? If you used basic Video export, you might try exporting using the advance export mode. I always use the advance mode and set my video codec to H.264 and file container to .mp4 and I haven't had any issues.
Hey! Currently doesn’t seem like Dreams supports animated gifs. One workaround I’ve used has been to import gifs into the original Procreate app. And then drag that project into Dreams file.
Have you created a new empty track? You can’t draw on the track with the video. So you should be able to add a new track above the video and then enter flipbook mode on it.
This is great! My daughter is 11 and has been making an animation over a video of her dancing. Do you have any idea why it wound suddenly stop allowing her to draw over her video? I’m guessing she clicked something wrong, possibly?
That’s exciting! It could be a couple of things. If she’s drawing within a group it could that the group container needs to be extended. Or there could be other content on the same track which would stop her from drawing further. I would make sure the rest of the track is empty or try picking up on a new blank track.
Another person experienced this issue and had to select all the layers (animation and video) then it exported it all. I’d recommend trying selecting all content and see if that helps.

How do you edit the video size ? Having some trouble with making the video full screen to draw over.

Bro can we drag and drop gif images in it and will gif animate like in other video editing apps?

When I save my video into my camera roll, it only saves the animated parts but not the video I was animating on top of can anyone help me??
