I'm super curious to hear what you all think about Ariana stepping into Glinda's magical shoes! Personally, I'm all in on this match. Ariana and Glinda share so many vibes, it's like they were meant to be. Plus, isn't it fascinating how diving into acting has helped her reconnect with "little Ari"? It's like she's rediscovering parts of herself through Glinda's sparkle.💖
I am so ready! After her performance in Hairspray Live, I was a little concerned that she wouldn’t be able to fully shake off her popstar persona, but after that drone video came out and we got a bit of her NOMTW performance, I am absolutely on board!
She really wanted to play glinda and she really manifested it.
Just like magic 🪄
@@CareOffBook I mean she works really hard as well so.
She tweeted back in 2011 that her dream role is glinda!!
Her dream was to be Glinda in a interview like 11 years ago a person asked if she wanted to be Glinda or Alphaba and she said “I always have wanted to play Glinda”
I’m going to create an update video on why I feel Ariana is perfect for Glinda and add those interviews once I find them. 💖
@@CareOffBook yea it was during her cat valentine era
in her sweetener interview with zach sang she talked about how she would die to play galinda.
I’m also reading comments of her saying she’d love to play her back in 2013. I appreciate you guys coming in to answer that question of mine.
This is what I really think that happened since she was a child she always dreamed of playing Glinda but after the trauma that the Manchester & Mac passing made her go through she saw herself more as Elphaba & maybe she also thought that role was totally different from all the other roles she had played which would allow her to show the most acting range. However years went by & she started healing a lot so she got her life & mental health together & started feeling more light & bubbly like Glinda again what also made her connect more to her inner child
Heck ya! You ARE a TH-camr who reviews performances and shares her perspective on the couch and that is awesome!!!
More to come!
Theirs interviews back in like 2013 where she mentioned she would definitely want to play Glinda one day. So yea shes definitely always wanted only Glinda. But this was such a fascinating topic
I thought it was interesting. I hope to find those interviews and thank you for answering my question.
@@CareOffBook Bet I found it the videos titled "Ariana Grande sings songs from the musical Wicked" the channel is (Kiddnation) she was so different back then lol omg
I just want to say that content creators like you keep me in touch. So grateful for what you do ❤️.
If you mean “keep in touch” like comment back yes. “Keep in touch” with the world of art? I think you’d laugh at how many people would not agree especially if I have criticism about something they love.
Great overview. Thanks for this!
Appreciate it. 💖
I love this.
I can’t find the link now, but I saw an interview of her talking about her younger self saying she would play Glinda, and someone asked her about Elphaba and she said it would always be Glinda. So, yes, always Glinda!
I wish I could see it! That’s good to know.
Elphaba, not Alphaba.
🤣 I keep doing that. Thank you.
@@CareOffBook It’s easy to do! 💚
@WhoWeAreWhatWeLove I also have a speech impediment so at times I need to practice.
@@CareOffBook I'm sorry, I'm new to your channel (I've been going down the TH-cam rabbit hole of Wicked teaser trailer reaction videos lol, that was the first video of yours that I saw). I couldn't even tell that you have a speech impediment! I'm excited to see more of your Wicked content 💚
Oh no worries. I don’t even think I announced it on here. I’ve read worse 🤣 I’m excited to talk more wicked! I hope to find a great Interview with Cynthia!
There are hundreds if not thousands of theater performers who would have been able to do this part. Ariana didn't need to do this role. She has already an established artist in her own right and we in the theater world hate when already established artists steal away a role that numerous artist could have done and propelled them into the limelight which is what we have to deal with day in and day out. Established artists who are rich and don't need the pole or the pay...but struggling artists do need the opportunities that these artists force us back out on the street to search yet again. This is shameful behavior. Stay in your own lane is what we call it in the industry.
It’s also unfortunate because for people to now be interested about theatre performers, they need to either be in a movie or tv show for “legitimacy.” Another way is to grow a strong social media following. The amount of times I’ll talk to my husband about Annaleigh Ashford and the only way for him to remember her is when I say “she was in Versace.”
“We in the theatre world” she was literally on Broadway, that’s where she got her start. She has been saying for years that she’s wanted to play this role and get back to her Broadway roots and she worked to earn this role. She was the person that the casting team chose for the role because in their mind she was the best. This comment is so incredibly gross and not at all indicative of the general theatre community.
she started on broadway LMAO so cut the “we in the theater world” BS😭😭😭😭
It's not surprising at all to hear her sing like that. That girl can mimic so many different styles, and if you can whistle and have the training she does, a few floated soprano notes is light work. Anyone doubting her doesn’t know a thing.
That’s a great point. I remember in interviews how she was so good at imitating others it took her awhile to find “her voice.”
