Okay, but since they might be taking a few new things from the book, what if Kristin Chenoweth is playing Ama Clutch? That's an innocuous enough pull that it can give her a fun role without getting /too/ disturbing, and she could totally pull it off!
The theory ab the wedding scene being part of "i'm not that girl" would make sense if consider that probably the idea of Glinda and Fiyero getting married stayed in Elphaba's mind, being Glinda's secret reveal right before "popular".
So I guess the one thing that someone pointed out to me that i really loved was the actual design of Dorothy's slippers seems to be made of engraved rainbows and tornados. Which I thought was such an excellent touch, and a nice homage to the 1939 film. In regards to your thoughts on the real lion meaning potential characters looking more like actual animals, I think thats definitely whats going to happen. Especially because with Wicked, it treats Oz like how it is in the books, a real place thats full of magic and adventure, and that these are things that truly happened. Whereas with The Wizard of Oz film, Bert Lahr actually being a lion that looks like a man actually plays perfectly to that version of the story being Dorothy dreaming up and facing all the things she's come across with in the real world. So Wicked diving into the more fantastical side definitely feels like thats helping reaffirm to newcomers that in this take, the events of The Wizard of Oz actually happened and these are real people who were affected. I think itd be really cool to see Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda's mom! Id also be curious if Adam Lambert snuck in a cameo in this film somewhere, knowing how popular he is and his own history with Wicked.
Doctor Dillamond is the catalyst for the events that cause Elphaba to become the "Wicked Witch". There is no Wicked without him. Hopefully the film takes the novel's route with his story and not the sterilized musical route. Great catch with the ring and the elixir bottle by the way.

Please do read the book first. The book is dark and stunning and, at least how I see it, it would be better to watch the movie with both the musical and the book kept in mind to see what they could do. Either way, I think the movie is going to be so enjoyable. Love your analysis ❤❤❤
Any callbacks to Wizard of Oz will be more similar to the L Frank Baum's books and not the MGM movie with Judy Garland, probably for licensing reasons, which is why we see silver slippers instead of ruby slippers. In the books, the Lion is always portrayed like a real Lion that talks instead of a Lion/Man hybrid.
Maybe so, BUT did you notice Dorothy's posture? She's standing in the same pose as a very famous shot of Judy in an Oz publicity shot. I bet there will be lots of little things like that to tip the hat to The Wizard of Oz film without going through licensing.
In the book, there are hybrid animal-people which are different from the animals. The author wrote "Galinda spotted someone staring at her and thought, That old goat" and then he realized this was a storyline and it could literally be a goat. This new version uses the book more than the musical.
I love your analysis, here’s some more info for you. 1) Bowen stated in an interview Dr. Dillimond was played by a female puppeteer. 2) Alice Fern is supposedly Glinda mom ( I hope that is incorrect, it should be Kristen) 3) if you pause the last frame just right, it looks like Elphaba is wearing her Part Two trench coat while flying. That supports your theory on Elphaba returning to the Wizards palace. She is also wearing the trench coat when jumping out the window ( pause the frame just right and you can see it) 4) Cinemacon leak, it looks like Glinda is wearing her wedding dress when Elphaba says “ we can’t all come and go by bubble”, I don’t think the wedding is a “I’m not that girl” montage. 5) In the Cinemacon trailer leak, Elphaba’s DG cape reveal happens in front of a broken window that leads to a balcony ( same balcony Glinda and the guards are standing on looking up). In the leak Glinda’s costume look pink, just like the official trailer. What’s confusing is in the Cinemacon leak there is a quick frame with Elphaba in her Defying Gravity dress, but Glinda is in a yellow dress. This leads me to believe we haven’t seen Defying Gravity yet and we are purposefully being mislead.

So back at she's university when elphaba save's that lion cub In wicked does that mean the lion in the wizard of Oz actually hid that he saw her And fierro turned into the scarecrow does that mean the scarecrow knows that alpha was actually a good person
So I actually just saw your initial reaction to the trailer, and said this there, I think the wedding dress more and more might be Glinda’s “I’m not that girl” reprise. Or maybe a new number that replaces that moment. And if Idina and Kristin aren’t involved in some way I’d be surprised

Adam Lambert would be a nice touch! If Kristen and Idina aren’t in this film it will feel wrong. I now need to go and look at those silver shoes!
