Having watched you for so many years I can see the things you've let evolve and those that have stayed around for awhile. I cannot see a mustard yellow and teal or turquoise combination without thinking of you. Every time I use gold splatters it's because I know you would say "that's what's missing." It's fun to see a journal page as I scroll through Instagram and know it's yours because of the style. I think your biggest addition is the denim. Love it!
Blue is another common thing in your journals. Different shades, but that stood out to me. When you showed the page from one of your previous journals, the one with the bird and all the texture, I felt I had to go watch that video again. I remembered how much I loved it and watching your process! Always inspiring to watch you create!❤

This was so much fun to watch! I was glad to see how you do your hidden spines. Because I too don’t want my stitches showing on the outside. I know sometimes you let them show and other times, you don’t want the stitching to show. Sometimes I will cover the stitching with a doily or something else. But I enjoyed watching your process. It is interesting seeing your favourites together like that. You’re definitely a “denim blue & yellow highlights grunge with a memory twist” girl 😊 I love how effortlessly you throw together a journal, while I’m still struggling to put together my first. I have a theme in mind, have a squillion pages to choose from (since I love just making pages best), have mentally picked colours to decorate my page edges (Luise style) &… there my first journal waits…/sigh. But, I’ll keep watching you just zip these together & maybe it will convince my brain finally that it’s only paper, it doesn’t need to be perfect from the start & it will create a life of its own once the pages are together & I start playing with them.
It will never be perfect anyway and that’s part of the junk journal charm. Think in baby steps and maybe choose a few to start off with so that you are not overwhelmed with choice. You got this! ❤️👍🏻😊
Seen all at once like this, showcases how really unique and beautiful your work is, Barbara. Yes, you do have a lot of grunge, which I love too, but your journals are very colorful within the grunge. And they have never ending interest within their pages; so engaging!
Your palette is certainly obvious which I love as well and lean towards with the addition of rust. All yout work is wonderful and I thank you for sharing it!

To make a journal dedicated to favorite projects is such a good idea!! Really like the printout in the beginning of the video where pieces of fabric are glued over the edge of a paper on both sized. I’ll do the same for my junk… paper/fabric bags. I do not need many junk journals but I am re-organizing and making bags & accordion envelopes for my papers and fabrics now. Those I need a lot 😊. I’ll also scan those papers and print them in various sizes to be used in clusters, pockets, etc. As always, thanks a lot for the inspiration. 7:45. You asked. I loved fabrics but struggled with my project when I was just sewing. Not too many possibilities. Stopped that and switched to paper. It was OK but then discovered paper/fabric combo and I am finally super happy. The structure and the sound that paper adds to the fabric is a game changer.

You always inspire me to create!💖 I've been stuck in a mass making project of several writing and art journals for water color, mixed media & sketch. I think I have about 20 total.👀 I've already finished & given a few away as gifts. But the rest are going to a shop for my daughter to sell for me. The greatest work is on the open-spine covers, with different, elaborately painted/mixed media designs on each. It has taken me at least two months longer than it should, as I have to work around my disability with chronic pain. And...have you ever had those projects where something goes wrong at nearly every turn? Ugh...I am just so over it.🙄 I would love to move on to something more free & fun. Your videos don't help either.🤨 lol!! When I watch, I fall in love with all of your little beauties.💗 I want to just throw these books in a box and do something fun...just for "me". I wish I could find an awl like you’re using. It seems like the right size to hold on to well and not hurt my hand when using it. Seems like the ones I find either have a handle that’s too large for my hand or the handle is so small it hurts my hand.
There's just something about denim, isn't there? I haven't made nearly as many journals as you, but 3 of mine have denim full or part covers. I just thought of an idea. I'm going to my local thrift store next week and looking for some denim dyed in different colors than just the usual blue. I love how denim feels, and it's the perfect weight and texture for journal covers.
So cute! I tried dropping coffee grounds in the puddles of my coffee dyed papers, and it didn’t work. It just turned to glossy dots on my papers 😂. Not sure what to do differently.

Other recurring themes in your art are wings (bird, butterflies, fairies, dragonfly) and your signature colors (blue or teal and mustard). Sure, you can stick with what you’ve done before, but why not try something different? Tho you should be you. I admire you for speaking two languages (that I know of). Why is your English so impeccable? I’ve wondered for a long time. But … one correction. Height rhymes with bite. It doesn’t have a th sound at the end. My mother had some German. Ist das nicht eine schnitzel bank? Ja das ist eine schnitzel bank. Part of a silly rhyming thing my mother taught me. It goes on and on. Every now and then I look at it on the internet. I miss my mom. She brought me up silly. 🤪

The park system in Milwaukee was born of German ingenuity. Many German brewers became very rich in Milwaukee. They built mansions on Wisconsin Avenue that still stand today. There are still a few good German restaurants around, tho that heavy, tender, meaty food isn’t as popular today. I still love it!
Hey everyone. I apparently never brought or used digital junk Journal or craft kits before. But I’m kind of thinking about making a renaissance Festival themed scrapbook. And some other themed scrapbooks and junk journals. But the thing that I need to know is How good is the quality of the kits? The only reason why I’m asking is because I never used or purchased them before so that is why I’m asking. So all that I need is a answer and a second opinion before I make any purchases

Spray the ground coffee with water once you put it in the dyed papers.

Other recurring themes in your art are wings (bird, butterflies, fairies, dragonfly) and your signature colors (blue or teal and mustard). Sure, you can stick with what you’ve done before, but why not try something different? Tho you should be you. I admire you for speaking two languages (that I know of). Why is your English so impeccable? I’ve wondered for a long time. But … one correction. Height rhymes with bite. It doesn’t have a th sound at the end. My mother had some German. Ist das nicht eine schnitzel bank? Ja das ist eine schnitzel bank. Part of a silly rhyming thing my mother taught me. It goes on and on. Every now and then I look at it on the internet. I miss my mom. She brought me up silly. 🤪

@@49dragonflies I read last night the silly word game was brought by German immigrants to the US. I was born in Milwaukee WI, a historically German city in America. The park system in Milwaukee was born of German ingenuity. Many German brewers became very rich in Milwaukee. They built mansions on Wisconsin Avenue that still stand today. There are still a few good German restaurants around, tho that heavy, tender, meaty food isn’t as popular today. I still love it!

Hey everyone. I apparently never brought or used digital junk Journal or craft kits before. But I’m kind of thinking about making a renaissance Festival themed scrapbook. And some other themed scrapbooks and junk journals. But the thing that I need to know is How good is the quality of the kits? The only reason why I’m asking is because I never used or purchased them before so that is why I’m asking. So all that I need is a answer and a second opinion before I make any purchases
