Very interesting binding, thank you for this. I think it would also work if you used strips of fabric through the stitching to bind as well.
I think the outside binders would be nice to have run through the Sizzics in an embossing folder. What do you think? I think i would like to try it like that! Adding brads would be nice too... 😮This is a fun binding.
Great ideas! Try them! 😃❤️
Barbara, this is so cute 😍 As per your suggestions, fewer mishaps... I tried it, and I left more space between the signatures, and it made the journal have no gator mouth. 😊 Thank you. ❤
Wonderful! 😃❤️
This is cool ! I had three thoughts while watching - backing the strips with cheese cloth or fabric might add durability, allowing space between the signatures along the strips would help with the gator mouth and the strips could be glued to the inside of the cover or even hidden beneath the the fabric on the inside ! Such a fun project 😊
Wow, I love the binding! To get your signature holes even, use your black foam, lay the signature wide open and poke the holes straight through. It works much better. Also from last week, to take the shine out of stickers just go over them with matte medium. Don't throw your stickers out! Love you!😘😘
Thank you! ❤️
I have almost finished my signature’s for a A4 size journal. I did bind the signature’s like you did. My stitches are 4 and bigger than yours. The bands must be wider. All the time I worried about my binding method. 😅 you saved me!!! I hope the method will work on the A4 size. I will first test it out. Thanks for the great ideas.
Wonderful! 😃❤️
Great way for binding a jour Al. Merci 😊
First time I seen this type of binding. I love this technique. Fantastic. Your Autumn journal is gorgeous. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great binding technique… it looks amazing! Beautiful digitals !❤❤❤
Oh yes, I saw this on IG & thought it was brilliant. TY for showing your take on the reel. I'm thinking grossgrain ribbon for the binding. Have a beautiful day!
This is an adorable journal! I was thinking that you were going to space your signatures further apart after you had the bands all woven through the stitches, I thought that was one of the features of this type of binding. The fabrics just make the perfect covers and I am sure it feels really nice in your hand! I must try this myself! Love it!💕🇨🇦
That is going to make a GREAT little watercolour book! Super easy binding method. Thanks !!
I made one when I saw Inkslinger doing hers on IG. I am going to use mine for my November Journal. I be interested to see how it holds up when collages, tuck spots ect have been added.
This journal turned out beautiful!!! No surprise😊. Thought I’d throw out a couple of ideas in case it's helpful to anyone in the future. I think the strips could be added as the signatures are being sewn, and cloth ribbon could be used to help with longevity, if a person has that supply. Seems like I’ve seen that done at some point by someone 😂(???). Just can’t remember who. So it isn’t an original idea. It’s probably an old book binding technique, or a spin on it at least.
Love this journal Barbara. This DCC kit is one of my favorites and, imo, pairs beautifully with your latest mushroom kit.
Bonjour Barbara 😁🇨🇦 Woow that is so adorable, I love everything about it 😍👌👍 thanks for sharing your wonderfull creative talent with the world 🌎
I am loving what you are doing with these digitals!! Now back to continue watching sweetie! ❤and 🤗
Very cool binding & I love the material for those covers & the images. Actually who am I kidding, I love this whole journal! And I’m guessing if you left more space between the signatures, so a wider spine, it would be a little less gator mouthy (more of a gator mouth with braces? 😋)
😃❤️
You pressed the signatures at the stitching when the strips were glued ( yes you are heavy handed with glue😅) so I knew journal would fan out but then the papers relaxed. I always love a closure, though. Beautifully done!! Love your colours, so you😊 so Barbara!
Love the pages you used and the binding!!! I'm currently working on an Idea Journal and wasn't sure how I was going to put it together. The is perfect! Thank you.
You are so welcome! 😃
Love your projects this is beautiful
Looks great, hadn't seen this method before but it makes total sense. Would a gator mouth be avoided if the tabs were not pulled so tight over the cover? Or maybe that would make the book too wiggly. Will be giving this one a try.
Definitely worth a try! 😃
I agree, I think if you add thick spacers between each signatures while you are gluing your binding srtips you would have plenty of room for embellishments...and we know how much you love to add, and add to make your signature gator mouths! (That we al love because it means you have done another tutorial for us all!)😊thank you!
Definitely. Spines always need way more room than we think, at least double, if things are to be added throughout book. I would glue front in position I want on cover, so as not to hide anything by mistake. Then allow journal to lay on front cover and let signatures spring up to their natural place, or put thick cardboard in between them. Then without pressing down, mark the back cover tabs where they should be glued.
Or, add all pockets, tucks journal cards, embellishments etc before gluing back tabs. You'd be surprised how much it takes up, and then still more may be added like photos, ephemera etc.
Personally, I think covers /spines are always best made at end of journal making process for this reason, rather than squishing too much into a too small spine. Give them room lol 😅
@@purplepixie274 Thanks so much for your advice on that, will keep it in mind. Cheers
Not seen this method before. Very cool.

Great video and I am very intrigued by this binding method. I think you just showed me how to bind all the handmade, folded paper journals I have written in over the years!
Glad it was helpful! 😃
Beautiful!! I definitely want to try this binding.
Oh my. Barbara. The fabric you chose is fantastic. I love it !!
Love this journal, it's beautiful! You have SUCH a gift for adding the stencils and papers. Gotta try the binding method, of course. Thank you for sharing!!
I like this style of binding, and I want to try using cloth strips instead of paper to run through the stitching. Also, I think I would like the binding to be a bit looser so the book would lay open better and not be so gator-mouth.
I have tried it with stiffened fabric, but was not happy with how wobbly the signatures were, but it’s personal taste. Give it a try ☺️❤️
Fascinating, Barbara! Thanks so much for the excellent job of sharing this binding! Hugs! Peggy
I REALLY dislike sewing signatures in. This is a great alternative for me! I love it! As always, great video Barbara!
Agreed! This takes away so much stress! Heads up...just saw another comment that suggested including the tabs as you sew the signatures! That should make it even easier!😉
Gorgeous! I love that binding. What warm and cozy colors. You never fail! Hugs 🤗❤️🍁🍂
That was Fantastic! I love the binding, the cover and all the pages. I just love it!! You're a great teacher, thank you! 🤗🤗
This absolutely gorgeous!!! Thank you for the wonderful tutorial Barbara!! I must have those beautiful digitals & fabric now 😊
What a beautiful journal, Barbara. I will have to try that binding technique. Thank you for sharing. 🙂❤️
I have lifetime in Digital Collage Club through you and have to get this it! It’s 😍
And the Seth Apter fabric is as well!
Need to try this binding too. Thanks for the inspiration ❤
Beautiful papers, fabric. Love that binding, very cool❤
That binding looks really cool. Love the fabric…gorgeous! It turned out great and the closure really helped with the gator mouth.
I love the papers and the binding. Very cute journal❤ Barbara, with printing, after selecting borderless try to scroll down and choose the option “ Fill in entire page” that should help
This is a great idea but what happens when you start adding to the signatures? Maybe would it be better to widen the signatures before glueing it to the covers?
Yes, you could. I don’t plan on adding ephemera to this journal.
Gorgeous papers and fabric and I love the binding method. TFS ☺
Barbara I love it, the fabric, the binding and the paper and all your hard work creating this, it is gorgeous……cyndi m. ( I am very interested in joining the club, I believe I did last year but never used it. Went on vacation for several months and no way to take a printer then I forgot about. I will need to check on it)
Gorgeous project Barbara I am excited to give this binding a try. Thanks for sharing X💕
Hello
i am french
It's really sublime like junk and I love this binding that I didn't know.
My question: can we have these images on another paid site of course but without having to subscribe for a year. I'm afraid I don't like other collections. The one is superb, thank you
Thank you. These images are exclusively available from The Digital Collage Club, sorry.
@@49dragonflies merci 🙏🏼

New binding metod😍 Thanks for sharing 😍 lots of love from arctic Norrway 🙌🍁🍀🌻
Really like this journal. It could be an interesting twist to embellish the clock faces throughout the pages to add a little twist of steampunk. 😊
VERY cool, sweetie! Hugs, MomK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗
Absolument ravissant. Super cute. Thank you Barbara 🥰
This is a beautiful journal, and I love the binding method. Thanks.❤

Absolutely beautiful journal and love the binding💕🐬
I really like the vibe of this autumn journal and the binding is so different. I like it.
Gorgeous Barbara 🫶🏼 May I ask your Scissors brand they look very sturdy. Thank you.
Thank you. I got those locally and I don’t see a brand on them, so sorry ❤️
I love the precision you do everything - the measurements have to work and you are so careful getting it right!!! Love it and it's a beautiful journal.
Thanks so much! ❤️
I'm so happy you gave it a try sweetie ❤ I think that if you do not draw the strips that make the spine so tight (not so far onto the cover, you get what i mean right?) then you don't have a gator mouth. This might be the second added value of this binding method. ❤ and: it is gorgeous!
Thanks sweetie! Definitely worth a try! ❤️😘
Your journals are always beautiful,, nice job.
A beautiful journal. Interesting binding!
Inspired by your little iron, I too found a (different) little vintage iron this week and am so excited to see the fun it brings to my craft room.😊

Hi Barbara, this is amazing, and what gorgeous colours. Although I'm not keen on Autumn and Winter, Autumn is so pretty isn't it. I love the way you do the stencils in numerous colours, it looks beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with us. Have a lovely weekend, take care xx❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
Dear Barbara, as you said: Absolutely, gorgeous! I am so in love with this new kit from Tina! I have my signatures already done. I was not sure what kind of binding I want. So this tutorial is perfect for me! I will try it the next days! Thank you so much for your help and inspiration! Love from Rita❣️😘😘
fun binding, TFS! I think I'd make the signatures stand higher before glueing the binding strips to the cove. The kit is beautiful!
Love this and the clever binding too!
Oh how gorgeous is this wee journal. Loving the kit, loving the binding and loving the cover. Mmmmm. Outstanding! 😻👏🏼🙏🏽
I love this binding technique!
Oh wow! Thank You for this Good Ideas. I didn't think these folders would be so tear-resistant. That in turn gave me the idea of using my vegan leather (Snappap) for this. This is also ideal for stamping and is available in many colors and looks like real leather when washed in the washing machine. This binding here is super easy. Thank you for showing me. Kind regards from the Siebengebirge in Germany 😎🐉🏰
Love the digitals! Gorgeous! Love all the techniques you used to create this journal. It is a fun video and you explained everything perfectly. Thank you.❤🦋🦋
Tfs… I have never seen this binding technique before & I love it … the papers are amazing- such quality , the fabric is also special… love your journal ..::

And I really like this small book....
I used to watch your old junk journal with me videos regularly...
But now your style has changed... But you are really a good teacher when it comes to tutorials...
Thanks
Another beautiful journal!
Barbara, absolutely love this binding. Will definitely be trying it. Love the papers! TFS!❤
Such an interesting way of binding
Great journal, love everything about it! Thanks for sharing this fun project Barbara!❤
I love all the beautiful things you do to journal pages. I can't do those beautiful things because I'm too practical for my own creative good and use my junk journals functionally and need a lot of writing space, but I love watching you do what you do. 😊
WOW! Just, WOW! Beautiful.
❤
