To make it totally random I give my grandchildren glue stick and scraps. They call it nilly willy. And they love to see me use it in projects.

This is a great project! I like that you chose the decorative stitch. Hold your threads before you step on the gas. Game changer, no more bird's nests. I've been wanting to make one of these and yours came out beautiful!

What a cute idea and a fun creative storage solution. TIP: " Prevent the mess of tangles at the beginning of your stitching". Before you start sewing grab both the top thread and the bobbin thread together and pull straight out the back side of your machine about 2". Hold onto the threads and take a couple of stitches and you won't get that tangled mess at the start of your sewing. Hugs from MN and a machine sewer for over 65 years. LOL.

Never feel guilty because you work in uniform style. You do what you feel is right, because that is who you are. And your art and work must presents you and not a other person. Even though you make something out of your comfort zone. Tim Holtz said, you must do you. That makes you unique. When you do somebody else you are not yourself anymore but that person. Never make excuses for being you. I like uniform style that is me. If I do crunchy I will do it uniform style. I admire other people’s style because they do themselves. Your work is amazing, just stay who you are. Do I preach? 😂❤

I love snippet rolls and masterboards. I am overly organized and don't like working in a messy space. When I just need a mindless project, the master boards and snippets are a perfect project. I use double sided tape either down the middle of my base or two strips on wider bases. I tried a paper snippet using masking tape but it gummed up my needle, your tape might be less sticky than mine. I picked up sticks on my walk this morning, so I look forward to this project. Thank you Barbara for all that you do.

Tin foil rolls and plastic wrap rolls are very good for this. They are thinner then toilet paper rolls. They work great. You can also paint them if you like. Add brads and dangles, what ever floats your boat. Thank you for the inspiration.❤️

Those are so cute, what a good way to use bits of nature that are on the ground. I feel like my cat would have thought those feathers were amazing if she were still with us, I will make one in her honour because I know she can't mess with it now, even though we miss her lots.

You could be really daring & spray the plain back with Distress Oxide sprays, 🫣 which will let some random colours creep through to the front 😁 Or do a completely neutral one with different textured pieces & use it to mop up excess Oxide spray from other projects. That would create a really fun, random yet useful piece. And would love to see beads, dangles, tiny ribbons & other embellishments on it. And I don’t even do snippet rolls lol 🤷‍♀️

So much fun! I have so many fabric scraps from quilting at home with my sewing machine. Alas, I shall not see them again until the middle of September. I used to keep all of my ribbons wrapped around those old fashioned clothes pins and in an apothecary jar. It took up so much room I re-did the whole thing. Sometimes I out-cute myself to the point of being impractical. Now I know I can reuse those clothes pins for snippet rolls!

Cool idea. I have so many fabric scraps from my sewing days and from hemming pants and jeans for myself and my husband in addition to quilting scraps that I don't have the heart to throw away. @lillybullen5374 ปีที่แล้ว

@chelliebarron2094 I don't wish to 'jump in', and I'm certainly no expert, but when I started Junk Journaling I didn't have a sewing machine or much fabric. So, I used paper scraps on a strip of masking tape (sticky side up) and then a glue stick to finish adhering the pieces. Which now makes me wonder - could you use images of fabric to make a snippet role? I.e. pictures of material from a magazine or quilters book? And draw random stitches with a marker. Just a thought. 😊

Yes I have snippet rolls. I use very large empty lace spools that are cardboard. I also use old clothes pins that are wooden. The old fashioned kind. I have one large wooden spool which has lace on it now, but when it is empty it will be used for a fabric snippet. I use glue stick and do it just like you are doing it in the video. I add laces to my fabric snippet rolls.

You could use a narrower fabric snippet roll as a closure for the journal by adding a piece of elastic pulled through a casing pocket on each end. It would expand as your journal grew and you could always put in a new longer elastic if needed in the future.
