If a user’s 3060 Ti happens to be a good OC’er, I could see it getting very close to stock 3070 performance with not too much more power being used seeing as the only difference is CUDA core count and it’s not that large a difference. The 3060 Ti is the one to get as opposed to the 3070 (when they’re both in stock at base MSRP of course).

It's called "Future-proofing". Let's say 3 years go by, it's now 2024, and the new RTX6000 series is out. Now you get 45 FPS on your 3060 and 60 FPS on your 3070 (4K). So your $400 is now almost worthless and you need to spend another $500 to upgrade to the new 6070... while you still got another year with the 3070, so when you'll upgrade to the 6070, it will be over a year old and will cost less, or you could get the 7070 for the same $500. That's why I'm always going to mid-range. The high-range is too low in return for $, and the lower-range is not future-proof enough. I'm the kind of guy that likes to keep my GPU for at least 5 years. So paying an extra $20/year for better performance for 5 years is a good deal for me. If you replace the GPU every year or two, then the lower-range will be fine.
I just luckily got my hands on a 3060ti for $500. I know I overpaid but it was still cheaper than darn near everywhere else. When I bought mine the 3070 on the same site was going for $810. So worth it 🤷♂️
For most games you're getting essentially a 10-15 FPS Increase which translates into a $100 increase between Cards... The 3080 for example you're getting around 20-30 FPS increase, so it's $200 more. The 3090 I'm not sure how much its FPS increases, but it might be an exception to that rule.
Easily the cleanest presentation of information to digest! Currently trying to decide between a 3060Ti or a 3070 for 1080P gaming and for VR using my Oculus Quest 1 via link cable
For VR Quest, you may want 3070 or 3080. This will be even more true if you upgrade you quest in the future. Playing on Q2 with link is pretty much the same as 4K.
@@TEKDAD Thanks! I actually don't plan to upgrade to Q2, I'm just hoping that the 3060Ti will be fine for the Quest 1 since it's only 72hz. Awesome channel btw TEKDAD you're channel help me purchase the cablecreations extension with the anker cable, cheers from Canada :D
That's what I was thinking as well. Since I'm using a 1440p 165hz monitor, I might consider the 3080 or wait and see how the 3070ti performs if I want to try and hit 165fps to match the refresh rate
Simple For 1080p 144hz Rtx 3060 ti(a beast and 144hz future proof ) For 1440p 144hz Rtx 3070(if 60fps is enough go for 3060 ti) I personally not consider 3060 ti Futureproof for 1440p
Jarrod's combination of presentation, hard facts and useful insight is really just perfect. Might have to switch components out and sell what you don't want or use. Don't mean to look like spam y'all. Just trying to help someone maybe get their hands on an 3060 Ti.
you need to work on correctly labeling your graphs. the [resolution] gaming results sections all say "Average FPS" at the top but confusingly "percent difference" at the bottom. Which is it? Im assuming the latter but id like not to guess. Please consider for future videos
If your like me and you keep your card for 5+ years, that 10% extra performance is easily worth the $100. It’s the difference between high and medium settings in a couple years and medium or low settings in 3-4 years.
Its weird. Its like Nvidia made the performance disparity/gap between the 2 cards far away enough that you cant "overclock yourself a 3070" with a 3060ti. Which is kind of sad. The 2060 super being the same chip as a 2070 was able to net gain something like 3-5% performance to put it on par with a 2070. Same thing happened with the 1070 and 1070ti(and 70ti to the 1080..) The reason I love the "70" mid level chips is because you can tinker enough with it to make up the performance. I would assume the 3060ti can make up at most 5% of the "lost" performance of the 3070, but its still not enough.
How big of a deal is the power efficiency comment in the end? Is it going to be like running an aircon all day long if i played all day long on holidays?

@@deedeecarlsberg1568
LOL. Yeah, but you got the idea.
Hey Jared you're the real deal dawg, thanks for reviewing these at 1080p, I'm still using 1080p 240hz with my RTX 3070 Ventus 2X OC. 🙏🏿👍🏿
I just luckily got my hands on a 3060ti for $500. I know I overpaid but it was still cheaper than darn near everywhere else. When I bought mine the 3070 on the same site was going for $810. So worth it 🤷♂️
straight to the point! got my subscribe. great comparison.
This guy destroys every other review channel on youtube. 9 minutes full of usefull content. Never going back to 20min stupid talking of j2cent
Hey Jarrod, love the reviews man, for a pc noob like my self they really help, thank you!
Happy to help!
dam dude u got all melodic death bands tshirts
What graphics settings were used in red dead 2? High settings can mean anything unless you put every settings on High
That Insomnium shirt🔥🖤
For streaming and content creation would the 3060ti still hold up?
For most games you're getting essentially a 10-15 FPS Increase which translates into a $100 increase between Cards...
The 3080 for example you're getting around 20-30 FPS increase, so it's $200 more. The 3090 I'm not sure how much its FPS increases, but it might be an exception to that rule.
Another person who skipped third grade and missed the concept of percentages, sadge.
Starting a new build with a evga ftw ultra 3060 ti has a higher core clock than the 3070 . Pairing it w a r5800x as well
The best of this video is your t shirt
Great review, 3080 might be a better pick if 3060ti isn't enough
That's what I was thinking as well. Since I'm using a 1440p 165hz monitor, I might consider the 3080 or wait and see how the 3070ti performs if I want to try and hit 165fps to match the refresh rate
@@TheVikingRaid you can hit 165hz 1440p with a 3070
@@nourc7719 In CS:GO? What about Cyberpunk?
Thanks for your research and data. Your thorough work is much appreciated!
Hey Jarrod, benchmark Cyberpunk 👍👀👀
I really appreciate the productivity benchmarks. Most channels do only games.
Simple
For 1080p 144hz
Rtx 3060 ti(a beast and 144hz future proof )
For 1440p 144hz
Rtx 3070(if 60fps is enough go for 3060 ti)
I personally not consider 3060 ti Futureproof for 1440p
Jarrod's combination of presentation, hard facts and useful insight is really just perfect. BTW at Newegg in USA they have this PC for sale right now for $1299.
i5 10600k, 16GB memory, 512GB ssd, Asus 3060 Ti, Asus Z490P mobo, Win10
Not that I care about Newegg making sales, rather it's a pretty good deal for a 3060 ti machine given the GPU climate right now. Might have to switch components out and sell what you don't want or use. Don't mean to look like spam y'all. Just trying to help someone maybe get their hands on an 3060 Ti.
Damn this is how you look? I'm seeing you for the first time!
lmfao
Awesome video Jarrod. Thanks!
I love my 3070 FE.. that 3060 ti is a beast though.
Insomnium fan very nice. :) winter's gate is a great album. Keep up the great work!
Me after watching this video: Vigorously overclock my 3070. There is no way my more expensive gpu defeated by 3060 gang!!!
Wow you know exactly what we want to see and you get straight to the point. Amazing
If you are confused between 3070 and 3060ti, that means you can afford both of em' so get 3070 simple, case closed (there are exceptions)
waste of money dude. just get 3080
Great video, to the point and the information is understandable. Great job man subbed you earned it.
Both cards have the same prices here in our country 😂
you need to work on correctly labeling your graphs. the [resolution] gaming results sections all say "Average FPS" at the top but confusingly "percent difference" at the bottom. Which is it? Im assuming the latter but id like not to guess. Please consider for future videos
Day 42 of asking Jarrod to include Destiny 2 in benchmarks
If your like me and you keep your card for 5+ years, that 10% extra performance is easily worth the $100. It’s the difference between high and medium settings in a couple years and medium or low settings in 3-4 years.
Plus for 1440p(and possibly higher) as well.
Notification gang👍🏻

Both are welcome 🎉
Good video! Definitely helped me make up my mind about which one to go for.
Just what I needed! Thanks, Jarrod!!!
What abt the closer price points gpus? Like a high end 3060ti vs a low end 3070?
Thanks for getting straight to it 💯
How big of a deal is the power efficiency comment in the end? Is it going to be like running an aircon all day long if i played all day long on holidays?
Good job and nice t-shirt btw)
hey can you trust me one thing?
Should i go for MSI 3060ti or PNY 3070 ?
is PNY Good? is it trustworthy?
You helped me so much while choosing my laptop last year!
Man I would build a PC this year but hell it‘s so hard to get hold of any graphics card besides the 3090.
Glad I could help!
Love your vids JT
Best comparison ever so detailed! 👍🏻
