    Hi Coach
    IF: We get 2x2 detached, over splits to the field with the R away. N can moving closer to Apex. We get Fade-Out...
    THEN: ?
    As usual, I appreciate what you do! Thanks!

    • @MatchQuarters

      If you get an over split, you could always give a Mix call & have the Safety take the Out. Or run Bracket.

    Awesome video coach! I've learned so much the past two years watching your videos. We ran a 3-4 quarters last year and now switching to a 4-2-5 quarters scheme. I noticed Narduzzi has his safeties buzz their feet instead of your technique. What are the reasons you like the "step off" technique?
    Thanks!

      Appreciate it! It's related to coverage. He runs 9-man spacing "MEG" Quarters. No direct help underneath.

    I cannot quite remember if I saw you explain it or another creator. But do you have a vid specifically explaining Sky in Quarters??? It was along the lines of if #2 runs an out under 5yds the Overhang will run with him and the Safety now robs any curls, digs, or posts from #1

    I've watched a lot of your videos, great work! I have 2 questions. #1 I've seen your teams run cloud when receivers have been 5yds apart and even 10 yards apart. How do you define "tight" split with your players? #2 In sky for example, are you having the corner and safety both say In/Out for their keys are does that corner have two words and the safety have two different words so it doesn't confuse the linebacker? For example, when we installed a version of this, we can the corner call in/out for #1 and the safety called wheel/drag for #2. What words are you having your players use?

    • @MatchQuarters
      @MatchQuarters  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1) Usually if you are running Cloud & it is against a traditional split, it is game planned. Usually I leave it up to the Safety (can he get to #1), but the "rule" is 5-6 yds or less. 2) CB has "Out" for Smash & Under for Shallow. Really no other verbal ques. The Safety has a "sit" call for Curl/Wheel when he can get over top & he wants to CB to sit on the Curl. ... Appreciate it, Brian.

    Great video. Answered a few of the quarters questions I have. Only thing I really need an explanation on how slants and mid crossers are protected. Feels like the Mike is responsible for all slants no?

    • @MatchQuarters
      @MatchQuarters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CB should try & cap the Slant of #1. OLB walls the inside of that slant. Mike should cut to the Slant of #2. Most OCs will tell their QB NOT to throw to the inside Slant because of space. If they want to RPO off the Slot, then you will generally get an oversplit & you can run Bracket to counter--which relieves pressure on the Mike to cut to #2.

  • @billycougar3378
    @billycougar3378 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I should have added, aren't your concerned that the Out by #2 will be very difficult to cover in Sky?

    I know when Alabama plays MIX, if there is no mesh action then it turns into SKY.
    It appears if you are going to play MIX, you stay in MIX, regardless of mesh action or not.
    Do you choose to do this to keep things simple for high school kids and less chance of coverage breakdowns?

    • @MatchQuarters
      @MatchQuarters  ปีที่แล้ว

      I repurposed Mix as a way to create a visual queue for coverage. We are "mixing it up" and sending the overhang, so we need to play man. Thus the call Mix. If we weren't blitzing, we would play Sky. Mix was also a way for us to play 9-man spacing Qtrs when we were in a 3-4 base and our OLB was not a hybrid player. As you said, it keeps away overcomplication and breakdowns in coverage.

    Coach, would you still have your LBs at 30/30 if the back is split wider off the QB for the purpose of running creepers?

    • @MatchQuarters
      @MatchQuarters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really depends on the creeper. If we are picking him up w/ a coverage player, then cheat for success

  • @oldtomplatz8862

    I know you start your kids with MOD quarters but is the next progression MEG quarters or is it MES? Just trying to keep things simple as we do our installs. Thanks!!

    • @MatchQuarters
      @MatchQuarters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MES/MEG... Similar tech, just different scenarios. MEG = MIX/C1 (man) & MES = Press Qtrs & we want to eliminate routes. So once we get good at off coverage, I teach the soft press tech, then the different scenarios.

    When you say play Under (3-5) to protect against Speed Option when defending Trey does that involve bringing Ni to a 9, DE to 5, and DT to a Shade? That would also leave you playing Mix rather than Sky, yes? Thank you!

    So if the quarter flat defenders still have first to the flat…why do so many people say quarters stops “slant flat” if it plays out the same way as it would in one high?

    • @MatchQuarters
      @MatchQuarters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The overhang isn't nailing down on a Flat route because it is in the "No Cover ZN" of
