Very thorough job on these new trends. A former NFL qb was skeptical when I told him that playing Cover 2 (Cloud) to the passing strength side is getting more common.
Coach, could you describe the rules for the safety playing "Trix" coverage? In fact, if you could go over the reads and coverage responsibilities for the 3 defenders on the "Trix" side, please.
TRIX = Solo/Poach. The CB & ILB are essentially "locked" on their man & the Safety will take the vertical of #3. If #3 doesn't go vertical, the Safety will find work (close the post). Here is an article on Solo: matchquarters.com/defending-3x1-formations-solo-coverage/
if you have doubles pro down (y off away from two receiver side) and the two receivers are to the boundary, would u put the sam towards the FIB? or set him towards to the Y off? also, how do you tell that boundary safety whether you want him to poach/solo, have him be apart of run fit, or double the backside #? 4-2-5 has somewhat weakness towards the boundary corner/safety and i feel like there is a lot of burden on that BSafety
One more question...Let's say the Stud receiver is on the single receiver side of 3 x1 and we are squatting to that side and quarters to the trips side. If the 3-speed goes vertical whose responsibility is he? I hope that makes sense.

Appreciate it! Definitely a trend to keep an eye on.
This vid helped me understand why one would call Cover 2 to the passing strength with the Quarters away. Very insightful, I like it

Most at the higher levels travel the Ni to the passing strength.
The squat corner has what type of run support rules?
Technically it would be Cloud (CB) force. He'd fall off & play outside-in.
@@MatchQuarters this is off-subject but will you be doing anything on your Eyes coverage soon?
@@williethornton5563 I can put it on the list...
