John Wick falls for Tank Girl and has to take down the leader of the Roadhouse!
With the help of Mr. Joshua.
The Ghost of Sam Wheat came back reincarnated as Bodhi and because he already died in a previous life, he was looking forward to going out riding the ultimate wave.
Yeah, this is a John Wick origin story.
Omg if they haven't they gotta see tank girl! Kangaroo ice t !
You just described the perfect film.
Oh, hey - it's the kid from _Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead._
I'm onboard for the Keanu Cinematic Universe where all his characters are the same person at different points in his life.
I like it , the KCU
The Matrix was a weird point in his life.
Whoa!
Matrix man!
He’s not the same in John Wick!
Patrick Swayze was an accomplished skydiver, and took part in the big skydiving scene. He made fifty-five jumps in total.
He was also a pretty high level martial artist. RIP to him.
A great dancer too! before dirty dancing
Have you ever fired your gun up in the air, whilst screaming, 'Ahhhhhhh!!!!!'?
😅
What goes up must come down.
You've never seen Bad Boys 2?
Thank you Danny
Classico.
No, I have not ever fired my gun up in the air, whilst screaming "Ahhhhhh!!!!!!"
'Caught my first tube today."
Gary Busey was in the classic surfing movie " Big Wednesday" back in the 70s so he knows what he's talking about
I’m a little surprised that after all these years, not one sandwich joint has adopted “Hey, Utah! Get me 2!” as a slogan.
Point Break is the movie that The Fast and the Furious ripped off its entire plot from.
And the remake was trash
I agree, but "Point Break" didn't suck beyond the telling of it. It also had the grace to stop at one film and didn't crap up the summers for going on 3 decades. Also, no Vin Diesel. God, that guy sucks.
@@IHRZGHKIP. When the movies are done, they will probably do a Vin Diesel back story TV series. Disney will probably do it. And Vin will be trans.😂😂😂
When this came out, every skydiver on earth laughed out loud, wishing we could get the never ending skydive, and being able to have a conversation in freefall 😅, we still love it though, because it does indeed show how exhilarating skydiving is, been doing it since 1983 😊
You laugh at never ending skydives and talking while in free-fall, then you claim to have been skydiving since 1983 and you're writing comments on youtube in free-fall...
@ yep 👍, ok, no idea what you’re trying to say, so I’ll clarify, I would love to be able to freefall for the length of time they did, and I promise you that you can’t talk or shout to each other as they do in the film, impossible at terminal velocity
Also shows how brilliant James Cameron was as a producer. They put this flick out 2 weeks after Terminator 2, so it would pick up an audience of folks wanting to see T2, but the showing was sold out. I was part of that. T2 was sold out for the 7 o’clock show, so I saw this with my dad and big brother at 7, then we ducked out to the McDonald’s next to the theater, then rushed back to catch the 10 o’clock of T2. It was a fun childhood memory.
God, back when that used to work because we were actually at the theater. You just brought me back to the best days of my life, waiting in one movie until the movie I came there to see was ready. And yes, Cameron's brilliance shines in all aspects.
@ It worked mainly because during the days when films were primarily shipped on reels and not SD cards, you’d be lucky if theaters would get 2 prints of the big blockbusters. So, putting out similar flicks to catch that audience’s runoff could turn smaller movies into hits. This strategy also helped Boyz N the Hood become a financial hit. It was released the same day as Point Break.
I believe Steven Hawking is the last person you'd expect to see running through your house.
We are the Ex-Walkers!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'd put money on him before _Forrest Gump._ Or Jinny. Or Lieutenant Dan. Or Bubba. Or...
@@fluorescentmilkshake Pearl from Blade would both be and not be in the running..
I love how he goes undercover and immediately introduces himself as himself.
Not only that but when they busted Warchild’s crew, they would’ve gotten the word out from the clink that Bodhi’s guy was in the FBI.
Skateboarding was started by surfers lol. Lords of Dogtown
The Sport of Skateboarding, Skateboards were around long before Dogtown.
@RobertJuzstone they made it more popular
@ I think I just said that. :)
Good movie
Really good pair of movies (the documentary and the cinematic version).
This flick is everything great about the early 90s, condensed into a movie.
"Ain't it wild!" What a film.. That moment Swayze glances at Keanu as he has to walk away from his dead brother.. is just perfection.
Yeah the Red Hot Chili Peps are in quite a few films. They're in The Chase as well.
And Back to The Future.
@@lazyatthedisco yep!
Patrick's Roadhouse was a real restaruant in Santa Monica, opened in 1973. It was a pretty kitch place and known for continually celebrating St. Patrick's Day. They closed in 2024, having struggled quite a bit during the pandemic.
The skydiving scene was filmed at Lake Powell in Utah/Arizona....as a resident myself I am more blown away by how much water there was in the lake back then. If they did this scene today, these dudes would be landing in some deepa** canyons and maybe not deep enough water!
I watched a video made at lake Powell, where a guy pulled a boat out that had been underwater 30 years. When it went down drastically, there were plenty of old boats that showed back up. But in this case The water actually pushed the air out of the engine, and it still ran. They restored it, found the old owner who sank it, and gave them a ride.
Mrs Movies: "Not his beautiful face" 🤣
Every time my 11-year-old daughter walks by me when I'm watching this channel, she immediately breaks out the "coming in hot", a la Mr. Movies. 😅
I saw this when it originally came out in theaters. I was 20. I loved every minute of Point Break and it is still one of my favorites. I took a pass on the remake; there will never be any topping Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze in the original. I also love the director, Kathryn Bigelow. Her first movie was Near Dark from 1987, a vampire movie. It is a classic.
The remake was absolute trash. Probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen
I think that was the dye pack exploding in the bills, most likely...
Point Break is actually where a wave breaks as it hits a point of land jutting out from the coastline, hence the name.
The Ex-Presidents was the best movie bank robbing gang! Take that The Town 😂
F The Town. Overrated movie.
26:24 “He’s never gonna dance again.”
That’s okay. Guilty feet have got no rhythm. 😂
Although this is the basic premise for the original 'Fast And The Furious', both that and this film are closely related to the 1987 movie 'No Man's Land' with Charlie Sheen.
The one thing that stands out is the Killer Soundtrack...It's a shame they don't make movies anymore where the Music and Soundtrack drives the story...
You mean like Baby Driver?
@@YouMeTheMoviesbaby driver was crap. More like Casino
I saw this in the theater with my dad when I was 15, it was one of his favorites.....I liked it too
The little hand say's it's time to rock and roll
Such a fun good time of a movie. Established Keanu as an action Star and Patrick Swayze showed he’s more than just a good guy. Saw it in the theaters and loved it then, and I still love it. The remake couldn’t touch it.
This movie contains one of the best end credits songs. 😃
RATT!
look at how different gary busy looks here, this is just 4 years after lethal weapon, a year after lethal weapon he crashed his harley, got 150 stitches IN HIS HEAD, huge talent..but it slowly started to change him
Yes. The one surfer dude in the fight on the beach is Anthony Kiedis. Good eye!
Added later: Skydiving is truly a once in a lifetime experience. The adrenaline rush is like nothing I've ever felt! Typical free fall is around 60 seconds, from around 13-15000 feet. Then (if you do a tandem jump), the jumpmaster pulls the cord, and you go from hurricane force winds rushing past you to absolute silence. Gentle winds, clouds around, birds circling under your feet. Fucking amazing!
Another surfer named Warchild played by Vincent klyn best known as Fender Tremolo in Cyborg.
Anthony Kiedis the child rapist. He admitted to having sex with a 14 yr old in his autobiography. Knowing her age. He should be in jail.
19:40 😂 "go baieack tu tha vaALley maaaaeen" so stereotypical... yet perfect 😂
Nobody puts Johnny Utah in the corner 🤣🤣🤣
I used to watch this movie constantly when I was a kid 👍💯
"Utah! Gimme two!"
“Bodhi, I am an F.B.I. agent!”
HAHAHA I KNOW AIN'T IT WILD?
I can hear this 😂
“Kaans....they’re just kaans.”
@@Psilocybin77Patice O'Neil brought me here
One of the best films ever! Surfs up dude, what a cast, " well that would be a waist of time" true 90s. big luv from England RIP PS Keanu reeves straight after bill and ted Bogus dude lol. class
I like how Swayze managed to be an equally good romantic lead ('Ghost', 'Dirty Dancing' etc.) and a BROmantic lead (this, 'Road House') 🙂
22:22 Bingo !!!
That's Anthony Kiedis (lead singer)
from Red Hot Chili Peppers.
They literally looked it up 2 seconds later.
I remember the first time watching the music video to RHCP’s Give it Away and I was like “Hey it’s Warchild or whoever that guy was from Point Break.”
Yes. The child rapist Anthony Kiedis. Pos.
It's the whole band!
@@chernobyl68
Flea, yeah, but I think it's just him and Kiedis. Am I wrong?
One of the most impressive shots in the movie is during the foot chase. After Johnny hurts his knee and is on the ground, it cuts to Regan running and jumping onto the fence. Pay attention to just how high Swayze jumps and where his foot plants. His athleticism and coordination was off the charts.
Be excellent to each other .... and PARTY ON DUDES 😎 🏄
I grew up in Hawaii in the 90's and this might be one of my most watched movies, simply because everyone loved it and it was always an easy pick if people were getting together and wanted to watch something. (And yes, friends who surfed would show up at random hours and declare that we're going surfing.)
I actually lived in the same town as Laird Hamilton for a while, who invented tow-in surfing (with a couple other guys) a year after this was released (apparently he's also in the sequel, but I never cared to watch it). Bodhi would have known that the massive waves at the end (yes, that's Cannon Beach) would have been impossible to catch just paddling in, and that it was likely going to be a one-way ticket even if Utah hadn't shown up.
Can't believe Anthony Kiedis' one line ("that would be a waste of time") got cut out. If the meatball sandwich scene didn't make the edit I was ready to close the window (not really).
You’re right about those bullets coming back down. On a New Year’s Eve one year, my baby cousin was in the bathtub when somebody shot a gun into the air and the bullet came down through the roof, grazing his head. An inch in the wrong direction could have killed him.
Keanu and Swayze were also in the movie “Youngblood” together.
One of the best chase scenes in film ❤
Right up there with Bourne and Blades of Glory 😜
That's also Tank Girl!
The surfing aspect is unique approach, i love to surf
Keanu and Patrick Swayze were in another movie together 5 years before this called "Youngblood". It was a hockey movie starring Rob Lowe. Keanu was still very new and his part was very small. Lowe, Swayze, and Cinthia Gibb were the stars of the movie. Pretty good flick actually.
They didn't shoot the money during the opening bank robbery. The robbers were able to identify which stack of bills contained the security dye pack. They tossed it in the air and it detonated as you can see the pink dye in the air and on one of the windows.
"I am not a crook!!!"
✌🏽✌🏽
"I am not a convicted fel.." sorry, wrong President 😅.
If you haven't seen Gary Busey in "The Buddy Holly Story" you should really watch it. Really great Biopic.
Have to admit, skydiving is an awe inspiring experience. Especially the first time ride up, ride down with the view, and euphoria you get when you’re safe on the ground. Truly an existential awakening. But as far as being able to talk/hear others around you in free fall, like in this movie, it’s impossible.
P.S. A typical skydive fall is between 5-7 minutes.
Parachuting into water is very dangerous, there was a tragedy in 1967 when a pilot made a mistake and gave 18 skydivers the go ahead to jump, he'd got their coordinates wrong though because of cloud and they landed in Lake Erie, 16 of them drowned, you basically have a few seconds to escape the chute and get out of your gear before you get dragged under, their gear and clothing is just way too heavy to swim in.
I can’t help but laugh when I think about the fact that the guy that plays Roach was on that episode of Friends where he pretty much harasses Phoebe on a dinner date. “It might interest you to know that I’ve got a PHD.” Phoebe: -Really? Yeah.. A pretty HUGE.. *Phoebe runs away*
Fast and Furious 1 took the idea of this movie, the story is the same, but in different environments.
Paul Walker is Keanu and Vin Diesel is Patrick Swayze.
This is one of the most perfect films ever made. Movies by design, are made to completely divorce you from reality. This movie does that better than any other action film I can think of.
The filming location depicting Bells Beach Australia was in fact Cannon Beach Oregon....good call.
To me this is a prequel to John Wick. Johnny Utah is disillusioned with the FBI and becomes a hired gun.
to me this is the prequel for the replacements. Jonny Utah was a NCAA FB player. he injured his knee then change his name to Shane Falco.
This was shortly before Busey's motorcycle accident, which is why he's much more stable than his later appearances.
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
What a treat to watch this masterpiece for the first time
They remade this movie in 2001. It was called 'The Fast And The Furious'. Same story beats and everything
Need For Speed also copied both. It keeps the car racing stuff, but omits the bromance between the lead actors, and undercover FBI agent angle
5:36 No. That was the dye pack.
If I remember correctly, that group of surfers who started the fight was the whole Red Hot Chili Peppers band.
You said the magic word Mr Movies...
STAKEOUT - classic 80s thriller comedy with Emilio Estevez and a brilliant Ricard Dreyfuss. REALLY funny (the day and night shift play pranks on each other).
And a very hot Madeleine Stowe!
@@JoergWeida "315 lbs... she could be the house ! Oh I hate my job !" - "I think she went on a diet !"
One of my favorites with two of my favorites. 😍Beauty& the Cowboy 🤠
In theory this is based on the book, Tapping the Source, by Kem Nunn. I say "in theory" because the only similarity is that people surf in both.
The book is a great book, and is one of the best books about surfer culture ever written. I recomend it strongly to anyone.
Johnny shooting his gun in the air will forever more inspire English police constables in the village of Sandford.
19:29 yes it is RHCP
Good call on it looking like a WA or OR beach. They filmed it at Indian beach and Cannon beach.
I doubt this is a prequel to speed. Keanu's character was immediately fired after this movie. He was sent to infiltrate a gang of bank robbers, and ended up robbing a bank with them and losing them all. Then he flew all the way to Australia to arrest the leader, and came back empty handed. And that was just his first case! By the time Speed was made, Johnny Utah was on traffic control.
Skate boarding is hard. I did it back in the 80’s
There's a movie called Cutaway, which is basically a carbon copy of this but with skydiving instead. Would be fun to see a comparison.
YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ❤
👏 i 👏 have 👏 seen 👏this 👏 movie 👏 so many times!
Well, I don't expect dead American presidents running through my house.Period.😂
Wasn't dead at that time.
If the ex Presidents left samples of buttered sausage, this movie would've been over in 5 minutes.
Director Kathryn Bigelow is in the top action directors. All her movies are worth a watch.
As the first and only female director that I know of to direct this type of thing, I really got to give much respect to Kathryn Bigelow. She did an amazing job with this:)
I absolutely love this movie. I have seen it a million times, but never even thought twice about him approaching Tyler before today.
Why did he pick her? And holy crap, why did he become super-stalker and use her trauma to get close like a serial killer?
This movie was loosely based on a real team of bank robbers who did it to get money to build a large treehouse with electricity and running water. Just an interesting little fact.
43:17 - 43:30 This guy better have a *four leaf clover* with him for luck.
Ha! I love seeing people's reaction to Patrick's Roadhouse, but that used to be an actual place that was a diner/bar on the Pacific Coast Highway across the street from the beach, in an area where there isn't necessarily a lot of places like it, so it was kind of like a local landmark, that had been there since the 70s, and I think shut down since the beginning of the pandemic. That being said, whomever wrote that line, probably did it on purpose knowing damn well what people would think.
And which Point Break alumni (aside from Swayze) is also in Roadhouse?
@MrLorenzovanmatterho I think you may have me on this one. I don't know.
@@richiecabral3602 Julie Michaels, the girl in the shower who plays the villain's girlfriend in Roadhouse.
There are two films I love that have foods that I would do anything to try ; 1 - Big Kahuna Burger (Pulp Fiction) and 2 - meatball sandwich (two of them) (Point Break)
27:35 Tom Sizemore wasn't actually working undercover. He just wanted to get order his drugs in bulk from their supplier.
With a name like Angelo Papas, how convincing is Gary Busey at playing a Greek guy?
LARGO was short for its founder LAwRence GOrdon, famous for producing action classics such as Die Hard, Predator, and 48 Hrs. He produced many of Walter Hill’s films throughout the 70s-80s. He even has a credit for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights.
"Utah, get me two!"
You should watch Tank Girl, Lori Petty starring role. (Margot Robbie might produce its reboot)
UTAH, GET ME ✌️
I’m your huckleberry.
Literally my fantasy football name and my name on socials.
Much as I love Point Break 53:36 is the worst Australian accent ever done in a movie, I'm an Aussie.
This is a prequel to Fast and Furious. Little Dominic Toredo saw this and said it's about family..
REQUEST "NOBODY RIDES FOR FREE - RATT MUSIC VIDEO"
Great song.👍For those who don't know it: this song starts at 54:01 and played during the end credits. (Ratt is one of the best bands of the 80s US hard rock/glam metal IMO.)
LA Guns’ “Over the Edge” is also still a banger.
There used to be a play in LA called Point Break Live and they choose someone in the audience to be Johnny Utah
48:50- actually it's physically impossible for two people to jump like that, with one holding on. Even if with both hands, or 2 pair of hands. The jerk at the chute opening is so strong, no person can hold on. You need a special gear with metal cord for this trick.
Hey that's that kid from don't tell mom the babysitters dead! In the surf shop!
uncanny how much he looks like Kristen Stewart
AAD (Automatic Activation Device)
deploys your chute at 1,000 ft. (or whatever it's set at) in case someone passes out.
Most of Ohioans live in a city....Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo, Akron, etc..
John C. McGinley's tantrums are the best in the industry!
The press kind of treated "Point Break" like it was a joke because of the premise (bank robbing surfers). Keanu Reeves does a lot of physical activity in this but interestingly, it was when "Speed" came out three years later that he got called a new action star.
