I agree that there is some luck involved in winning the UCL, but that's exactly why it's harder to win... You can buy the league, look at the Chelsea or Man City... (Man City took longer, but eventually they won it), it's way harder to buy success in the UCL, look how long it took Chelsea to win it and they were underdogs already at that time and PSG and City never won it...

As a Dutchman I can say Claude is dead right. Arsenal would walk the Dutch League, we're poor because all our talents leave at a young age. I think even the first 3 or 4 teams outside the Premier League top 6 would win the Dutch league.

Yes winning the UCL has an element of surprise and fortune, and yes winning the PL is a true mark of greatness. One is a marathon whilst one is a chess game with s sprint at the end. I would have to argue that winning the UCL still has a certain edge because of its competitors and the elite platform it possesses. Real Madrid are without no doubt the real pinnacle of the football world, for them to win 4 of the last 5 UCLs is no 'luck', it's no coincidence that they have claimed such a throne with one of the best 2 players in the world in Ronaldo. Especially as Real Madrid have suffered domestically in La Liga; they pulled up their socks in the sprint - the knockout football in the UCL. So I would say the UCL as an Arsenal fan because of that edge and you never forget winning a UCL, unfortunately I don't have that feeling as a Gunner yet.
The team Trropz mentioned as being great from the J league is in last place. Big teams there are Urawa reds (not this season though), Kawasaki Frontale, and Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Maybe give a shoutout to Vissel Kobe too now that they have Podolski and Iniesta.
