- Since March I have been trying to put myself out there online and try to create videos as create videos as an outlet. I want to be able to build a community who have similar interests like beauty, fashion and random life stuff. I’ve had a love hate relationship with social media. But being on here, on TH-cam feels different. I’ve gone years of not being active online. But now it’s made me want to change that. Although I am no expert and my takes aren’t as conventional or as aesthetically pleasing at others. I wanted to reflect on what I have learned (and will continue to learn and improve) after posting for six months on TH-cam this is advice I would give to myself six months ago or anyone in a similar position. These channel update videos are reminders on where I’m at on my process and where I started. I’ll look back on these videos and see how bad they are and that’s okay. Isn’t that life is? Growth.
1. Create content that you enjoy, you have knowledge about or have a passion for.
2. Learn to deal with or decrease potential procrastination and or burnout.
3. Get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable at the beginning of starting something new and talking on video.
4. Find what works best for you when it comes to how you film and if having a specific niche or not.
5. Have some sort of a system or schedule or staying consistent but also putting out quality content within your own compacity.
6. Get Feedback From Others, See What Is Working and what isn’t, check your analytics.
7. Utilize all the features to help get your content seen.
8. Try to improve one aspect of your content each time that you create, whether that’s your filming, editing or upload style.
9. For the second guessers or perfectionists… Everything that is uploaded is an opportunity to learn if it does well or even if it fails. Basically trust the process.
10. Give yourself a certain a point of time and a certain amount of videos to decide whether you want to continue before you begin to invest or give up.
Bonus:
Use what you have if that an old ring light, natural light, your phone lens, old camera before dropping money.
Keep intros short and vital information, a hook, or something entraining in the beginning to keep people wanting to watch the entire video.
Anytime you have a new idea I make sure to write down or add it to my notes app. It helps organize my thoughts so I don’t forget in the future.
There’s never a perfect time to start and you’ll never be prepared enough, there will always be something that comes up. Don’t let your fear of being seen get in your way of create content online or social media get in of you giving it a try. I waited years and I regret that so please just start, it’s all about small steps! But most importantly everyone is different, so do what is best FOR YOU. This is just my experience, let me know if you can relate.
Thank you again for watching my six month update of posting onto TH-cam! If you enjoyed what I’ve learned and what I hope to improve on my channel, my first TH-cam video and my three month update as well:

heyyy, i just came across your channel now, and i love how articulate you are in the way you speak :)), i also happened to struggle with something somewhat similiar to you, struggling to publish and post art of mine because i was too scared it wasnt interesting enough or wasnt perfect enough, for years, worrying whether i would attract an audience and a bunch more what ifs, this also applies to other parts of. my life, not trying enough, too scared of not being perfect, but these points that you have very well established very profoundly has definitely made me realise that whatever work i put out there doesnt have to be perfect, i wont immediately attract a wide audience by the time of 2 or 3 posts, its something that takes time, effort, and updating the framework you use when creating, learning from mistakes and experience, something much more valuable then trying to be perfect on the first shot, and that the audienc will find its way in its own due course, ill definitely be taking my first few steps, and this video was a very avid reminder of what i can accomlish when i just start. continue to create and be you
Hii there!! Wow, you’re too kind, seriously thank you so much! I wholeheartedly agree that perfectionism can get in the way of actually trying new things whether that’s making a video or anything else in life. It’s definitely a struggle that doesn’t go away immediately, but it can get better with improvement. I am realizing that actual effort is better than potential perfection that may never happen. Especially when it comes to putting yourself out there online haha. But I’m happy to hear that this video has found you some insight and can help you along your own journey into what you will accomplish! And the effort you just put into commenting on my video shows that any effort you do in the future will come into place! Thank you again! xx
I'm new to your channel ❤
Hey! I appreciate it thank you and welcome!!
To what extent should someone become a TH-camr for the money?
Hii! Everyone starts a TH-cam channel for many different reasons. I love just creating content at this moment for fun but if it turns into something down the line then great! But money is a popular and valid reason for wanting to get paid for the time that is put in on here. Treat it like a job by putting time and effort in and it can pay off. But there are many way to make an income with a channel so it just depends. Some niches/audience retention can be a factor. No expert here just my opinion haha.
Don't be so focused on being a youtuber. In other words, don't focus on what's on the other side of the camera when you're filming - ignore that completely. try and find the reason why you're filming. Film just 'cause for practice. I'd like to share with a secret to my personal success: Journal - but don't "diary". it's about coming up with ideas you think are interesting, but never publish your journals. I'll sub - hope you develop as a creator.
Hello. Those are a lot of interesting points. I’ll have to keep in mind. I like to list ideas. It’s not too serious. I just love creating. But thank you for your insight, I’ll have to keep that in mind for the future!
thank you for your transparency and useful tips! i appreciate you 😊🫶🏽
Hey! I’m happy that my tips were helpful for you. You got this. And thank you so much I appreciate it!! xx
