Growing My Hair To My Waist AGAIN After A Short Bob
My 6 Month Hair Growth Update (what has helped me)
I cut my hair February 13th, I filming this video August 13th. I will refer you to a previous video on why and what happened. My hair has grown 3 inches in the last 6 months.
Finding and learning what hair products types what helps clean, condition, protects, “grows” the hair.
Knowing what hair and scalp type is. My scalp is medium to low density. The amount of hair strands on my scalp. My hair strands are mostly fine. My hair pattern slightly wavy but straight as of this recording. My hair strands are high porosity as the bottom from sun exposure, heat, or any left over color/bleach which I don’t believe I have anymore. The top half is low porosity since its new hair growth and no damage whatsoever. My hair growth is above average. Grow half an inch a month vs quarter inch as the average. Knowing what hair cut works best for me. All one length is the way to go. Layers made it look worse on me and thin. I will NEVER do that again, intentionally or unintentionally if I can help it.
Hair timeline:
(Overall Having Consistency A Routine that works well for you and being overall and most importantly be PATIENT)
Preventative steps(damage/over shedding):
1. I cut off existing damage, one big cut. (That could be a trim depending on the state of the hair.)
2. Decreased hair brushing or over redoing my hair the more you touch the hair the more it could break only in am/pm
3. Hair wash schedule (stopped over and under washing) Sunday, Tuesday, Friday. May look different everyone. This is just what works for me. I tracked all the hair coming out in the shower.
4. Intentionally sectioning my hair when I’m using products or brushing/styling or washing my hair
5. Loose hairstyles with claw clips, satin scrunchies
6. Reduced heat styling besides blowdrying unless “special occasions”
7. Stopped dying/bleaching my hair
8. Sleeping hair routine wrap hair
9. How I safely dry my hair after washing, using a cotton t-shirt and slowing put in up and leave it for a few minutes. Using wide tooth comb starting for the bottom.
10. Protecting my hair in summer/swimming Protecting my hair from wind using hat
Treatment steps (products for keeping the healthy hair intact):
Hair types, scalp types
1. Started using enough products
2. Daily use of hair serum/oil on the ends of my hair
3. Using weekly hair masks/deep conditioning treatments letting it sit in my hair long enough. Shampoo twice sometimes three times if I have oil/a lot of products in my hair. I use a calirlfing shampoo at least once a week.
4. NOT skipping leave in conditioner and heat protectant
5. Learning dimethicone/ sulphates are NOT bad and citric acid or bonding products has helped my hair (not an expert but it has) I look for ingredients in products.
Hair Growth Steps:
(Genetics and other hair help can be completely different for everyone. I recommend if that is the case to talk with a doctor or dermatologist to access hair growth)
1. After the big cut I didn’t trim (over trimming) my hair until I start to see or feel my hair getting thin or visible split ends. Not trimming my hair and it all being one length has helped track the health and growth of my hair. Knowing what hair cut works best for me.
2. Scalp products “caffeine, rosemary” alternating between two products the ordinary and dove, mielle.
3. Massaging my scalp everyday
4. My diet and hydration helped with new growth
5. My sleeping habits, daily walks.
(Bonus things I haven’t tried but want to… red light therapy, derma rolling, monoxidill.) I don’t know enough about it and I haven’t used personally to know.)
Hair transformation will change during these stages: 4 stages of the typical hair cycle
Anagen phase the growth phase: 2-8 years
Catagen phase the transition phase: 2-4 weeks
Telegen phase the resting phase: 2-4 months
Exegen phase the shedding phase
I am hoping to do a continuation update to this video in 6 months after its has been a full year of hair growth.

Just come across your vids but Your hair looks super nice this length! But I think you should still continue to grow it out longer. I’m growing out a Bob too (big regret a year ago). Do you ever slick it back in a bun? I do, but I use a hair mask when I do it which I find super helpful. Any other help/tips or how best to wear your hair up with short hair up with short hair would be great! Subbed x
I’m on this journey with you 🙌 my hair is about the same length as yours and I never grew it to waist length but I would love to have long healthy hair 💖
Hey there! That’s awesome to hear. It takes time, it took me about two years to get it long like that from shoulder length. But you definitely can grow your hair longer and healthier. Mine is still a work in progress haha. I wish you well on your hair journey, let me know how it goes!!
@ thank you so much 🫶
Thank you for this super in depth video! I just chopped off my damaged hair after bleaching it a while back. Really excited to see some hair growth and get it long
Hello! You’re so welcome and I appreciate it! I know I didn’t get to cover everything plus it’s just from my personal experience but I didn’t want to over complicate it haha. And I do hope you’re able to see some new hair growth in your future as well. Good things take time xx
Haven’t watched the video yet, but my hair is the same length as yours, but in far worse condition, i would also love to have long healthy hair :)
Aw hi!! My hair has been so damaged before this so it’s improved. You’ll see in some of the photos that I had a chemical cut due to the bleach from being blonde. So I totally get the struggle! It can be really frustrating. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that. And I have no idea what the state of your hair is but I’m sure if you give it time and proper care you’ll have long healthy hair! Trust the process haha xx
@ oh you are so sweet and kind, thank you gor your encouragement! I also have chemical damage, but i will reduce heat and care for it more in order to see growth, good luck on your journey dear :) xx
Oh no you’re too kind but thank you again I appreciate it! Chemical haircuts are awful because there’s really nothing that can be done besides cutting off the existing damage. I should say heat isn’t not completely terrible, it’s still doable if the hair is protected in that process, but good idea on minimizing it. I am doing the same haha. But I hope everything goes well with your hair too!!
@@rachelautumn so hard to let go of length, but better to cut it off and allow it to be healthy or else i’ll risk too much breakage. Thank you for your advice, i will keep you updated :) xx
I completely agree, it’s better to have a fresh start to really see results with hair. But yes please let me know how it goes!!!
I want to grow my hair long again..
Hello! Honestly same! I get so impatient haha. It’s a such process having to wait for it grow long again, but it will be worth it if that’s what you want!!
My hair was very long and salon ruined it, now I want my long hair back
Hey, I’m so sorry to hear that. That’s so sad.. Especially when it happens at a salon where you think you can trust having your hair done and have it be destroyed. It’s happened to me too. Bleach and other things will always cause damage but usually it’s less when you go to a professional but it’s definitely hit or miss with who it is unfortunately. I hope you can get back to where you hair was soon!
Your hair looks lovely the length it is right now! Do not dye it again and have to cut it again haha. Would look gorgeous on you waist length if you stick with it! I’m currently trying to grow my hair out too from a bob length, do you still wear sleek buns? If so, would love to see a tutorial? What products you use etc x
I too want to grow my hair till waist length, I started taking good care of my hair
Hi!! I completely agree, it’s so important to take good care of the hair you have for it to grow as healthy possible.
Don't be so focused on being a youtuber. In other words, don't focus on what's on the other side of the camera when you're filming - ignore that completely. try and find the reason why you're filming. Film just 'cause for practice. I'd like to share with a secret to my personal success: Journal - but don't "diary". it's about coming up with ideas you think are interesting, but never publish your journals. I'll sub - hope you develop as a creator.
Hello. Those are a lot of interesting points. I’ll have to keep in mind. I like to list ideas. It’s not too serious. I just love creating. But thank you for your insight, I’ll have to keep that in mind for the future!
Im glad you let go all of those super big jogs.Great job!!
I appreciative it, it took some time but happy I got it done. Thank you again!! xx
The black belt is a great example of something that is useful if you know how to use it properly. I’ll give you some tips 1st use it on bodycon dresses or on top of short tops to create a dress look for example if you have a blouse and a skirt and want to connect them. Another option is wear it like a band below your bra line and tuck your shirt to make it shorter.
Those are great ideas for how to use belt. It can definitely help break up an outfit. I’ll have to keep that in mind for a future time when I need that. Thank you so much!
thank you for your transparency and useful tips! i appreciate you 😊🫶🏽
Hey! I’m happy that my tips were helpful for you. You got this. And thank you so much I appreciate it!! xx
To what extent should someone become a TH-camr for the money?
Hii! Everyone starts a TH-cam channel for many different reasons. I love just creating content at this moment for fun but if it turns into something down the line then great! But money is a popular and valid reason for wanting to get paid for the time that is put in on here. Treat it like a job by putting time and effort in and it can pay off. But there are many way to make an income with a channel so it just depends. Some niches/audience retention can be a factor. No expert here just my opinion haha.
Oooh cute
it definitely needs to be perfected but aw thank you so much!!
This takes alot of courage, and I am impressed, i think in this case it is content saturation, that these type of videos are very common. But, change of subject will help. There is a successful creator who did this same thing went along with small results then change and exploded (Jesse James West), he even had a subscribe drive making the content based on getting subscribets like a fund drive. So you just keep applying then seek inspiration. Also you need the whole marketing and hashtag, thing.
Hii! I’m not sure if you meant to comment on my newest video about my 6 months here on TH-cam because this makeup video is several months old haha. But I can see why that can be true when it comes to having certain types of content or niches becoming overly saturated. I do plan to narrow down once I find what I find to do well on here. But I do appreciate your suggestions and insight when it comes to what might work better and what doesn’t! I will have to keep that in mind and check out the ideas you’ve mentioned for the future. Thanks!!
heyyy, i just came across your channel now, and i love how articulate you are in the way you speak :)), i also happened to struggle with something somewhat similiar to you, struggling to publish and post art of mine because i was too scared it wasnt interesting enough or wasnt perfect enough, for years, worrying whether i would attract an audience and a bunch more what ifs, this also applies to other parts of. my life, not trying enough, too scared of not being perfect, but these points that you have very well established very profoundly has definitely made me realise that whatever work i put out there doesnt have to be perfect, i wont immediately attract a wide audience by the time of 2 or 3 posts, its something that takes time, effort, and updating the framework you use when creating, learning from mistakes and experience, something much more valuable then trying to be perfect on the first shot, and that the audienc will find its way in its own due course, ill definitely be taking my first few steps, and this video was a very avid reminder of what i can accomlish when i just start. continue to create and be you <333with the way you think, you will definitely do great thingsss, u just earned urself a subscriber :))
Hii there!! Wow, you’re too kind, seriously thank you so much! I wholeheartedly agree that perfectionism can get in the way of actually trying new things whether that’s making a video or anything else in life. It’s definitely a struggle that doesn’t go away immediately, but it can get better with improvement. I am realizing that actual effort is better than potential perfection that may never happen. Especially when it comes to putting yourself out there online haha. But I’m happy to hear that this video has found you some insight and can help you along your own journey into what you will accomplish! And the effort you just put into commenting on my video shows that any effort you do in the future will come into place! Thank you again! xx
I'm new to your channel ❤
Hey! I appreciate it thank you and welcome!!
What’s that lipstick!!

Hello! I’m definitely trying watch as many horror movies in this week so I will definitely have to check your list out. But thank you so much!
@@rachelautumn right on! I appreciate it! You've probably seen them all, lol. But you're very welcome! It was fun to watch 🤘
Hello Rachel super horror fan..... Happy Halloween!🤳🌚🧙🎃👻🎃 Blessings and happy thoughts!Add Black Christmas 1974 and The Spiral Staircase 1940s one and the Innocents 1961 and The Haunting 1963🧙🌚🧙👻🎃👻🧟
Hi there! Horror has always been my favorite genre. And it’s must to watch what I can this time of year is a must. I save Black Christmas for winter time but definitely! But thank you for sharing, those are great suggestions and classics! If I get around to it I’ll have to rewatch those for sure.
??
Check out the full video, thanks for watching !!
I'm torn on this topic. I think buying fakes is morally wrong from an artistic perspective, but at the same time, the sky-high prices are equally morally questionable. After much deliberation, I chose luxrul to buy bags... Perhaps the best luxury goods are things that have nothing to do with money and material things.
Interesting, I’ll have to keep that in mind in the future!
Looks good! I've got a tiny (real) white pumpkin and BBW "marshmallow fireside" candle which smells so good.
Hello! Thank you so much. The candle you have honestly sounds so good! I’ll have to check there too.
Cutie alert! 🚨
Thank you x
Nice work. I hate cleaning but love the end result.
Hello. I’m definitely a procrastinator when it comes to cleaning, so I totally get it. Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for doing the hard work for us. I'm pretty basic- iced lattes and iced matcha lattes. Hope you're doing well. Your hair's getting so long!
Hey there! Those are some classic drink choices though, you can’t go wrong there haha. I usually just drink iced coffees or cold brews. It’s when I venture out of that it can be hit or miss for sure. But thank you so much, you’re too kind!
Thanks for another great video! I just finished that Rachel Hawkins book and now I'm reading Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier. My birthday is today and I always feel like it's the last unofficial day of summer. When it gets cold I hope to be brave and spend more time outdoors because I'm usually such a wuss.
Hii! I hope you have an amazing birthday! I’ve been trying to keep up on my reading but I don’t think I’ve read that one before. And I completely understand what you mean. I’m going to try to get outside more in later coming months too! It’s so difficult though haha.
Love the Marc Jacobs! I just got a new to me Coach backpack in the mail.
Hello! Thank you so much, it’s definitely a favorite of mine haha. But that’s awesome, I bet the Coach backpack will be so nice!
Happy belated birthday! I'm really enjoying your videos!
Hi there! Wow seriously thank you so much. I’m so happy you’re enjoying them!!
That intro was so cool and cute
Hello! You’re too kind seriously thank you so much!
Is your purse stiff? I had gotten a coach purse, and i had no idea they were so stiff! But i wonder if it depends on the sizes
Hey there! I did thrift this coach tote bag but it still had the tags and protective sleeves on it. So it was technically brand new, unfortunately it wasn’t stored properly so it did get a couple dents in it. I do find that the newer the purse the more stiffer it is. I’ve noticed that the more I use it the less it has become stiff. This is my first time having this exact one. I’m sure that the size of the bag might be differ in that way as well as the material can be a factor in that. That’s just my personal experience but I hope that helps!
Love the first Coach bag, so cute!
Thank you so much!! I do too, I need to use it more haha
The 18-20 are boys sizes.
Hello! Interesting information thanks! And that honestly makes sense! If you’re referring the adidas track pants that I thrifted. I found it in the women’s section and just assumed. I must have misread the size since women’s use similar metrics for sizes haha.
@@rachelautumnyou could try the wide belt with the denim dress.
I don’t think I have a belt that would go well with the denim dress unfortunately. But that’s such a good idea, thank you for the suggestion. It would definitely help make it look more fitted and break up the outfit! I’ll have to keep that in mind. x
Beautiful bag. Fits a great amount 🖤
Hi there! It really is! I love this Coach tote bag, I haven’t had any issues with it. It’s very versatile too!
God bless this woman! Her HIDUPZ bag is amazing
Interesting, good to know thanks!
Hi there! I'm a newbie - I'm a 51 y/o, mother of a 20 y/o, married x 25 years who works as a medical stenographer - oh and did I mention I'M A PURSE-A-HOLIC!! Seriously, I just can't stop myself - I need intervention, so I'm telling myself, perhaps me finding this video will help me to declutter, lol. I live in a remote town in North Eastern Canada in a place called Happy Valley-Goose Bay, in the province of Labrador. We have ultimately nowhere to physically shop here - no joke, no mall, not even a Walmart, so I purchase all my goodies online, but I am pleased to say that most of my purses have been purchased through resellers that I've found on TH-cam - maybe that's why I have bought so many b/c I tell you - this is a dog-eat-dog business and if you're not quick in sending off an email stating you want a certain bag, then you lose - they move fast like hot cakes. And most of my greatest finds are Coach, MK, Sak, Vera Bradley, Patricia Nash, B. Mikowski, Brighton, and many more. One of these days I'm going to sit down and really take my time to figure out which ones work for me and the ones I don't think I will use, then I in turn will sell to someone and share the love. The most I've spent on a bag is I think $70 or $80, but mostly it's $50 or less, I just can't imagine spending hundreds of dollars on just 1 purse - but no shade to those who do or who can afford that, but I'm just your regular joe holding down a middle class salary. Anyways I won't keep you any longer. I hope you have a happy and blessed day where ever you are. Sending you big xo's from Labrador, Canada.
Hi there! I completely understand what you mean haha. I love watching videos that either helps motivate me or inspire such as cleaning or decluttering. I held onto to so many handbags over the years. With a remote location like yours I can see why it is difficult to shop for things like that in person. And online shopping can be tough too when prices are usually higher. It’s a lot of patience trying to find something that is worth buying but also affordable. That’s such a good idea! Unfortunately I’m really looking for anything specifically at the moment but I appreciate it!There’s a lot of secondhand selling platforms might work for you. Thank you so much for the information though!
Good Wednesday morning. Really enjoyed your WIMB video. So realistic. New subscriber from Chicago. TFS
Good morning! I’m happy you enjoyed what’s in my bag. I know it varies from person to person and what they keep with them. I’m sure I’m forgetting things I wanted mention since it’s always changing haha. Thank you so much for subscribing means so much!

Well done! I enjoy watching declutters and organization of makeup and closets. ❤
Hello! Yay, I’m happy you enjoyed the makeup declutter. I love watching similar videos as well. It puts me in the mindset to start cleaning or organizing! Thank you so much!
You’re so pretty! 😍
Hi there! You’re seriously too kind! Thank you so much x
It doesn't matter where they are made. It depends on the craftsmen and quality inspection. My family and I have purchased D U P B A G Y bags over the past three years and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
Hello! I’m not looking for a new handbag at the moment. But when I do I’ll have to keep that in mind next time. Thanks for the info though!
why would you vacuum the floor BEFORE cleaning the shelves lol where do you think the remaining dust goes
@@LittleRockQueen14 Top of the morning to you! I’m not an expert if you didn’t watch the beginning of my video! Some clips are out of order. Thanks for reminder!
Do you like to donate your used clothes to us
Hello! Yes, I do believe I mentioned it in the video. But anything I don’t keep I will donate somewhere nearby me if it’s in the condition to donate! Or, if I know someone that I can give away certain clothes that would get better use out of them than I would. Thank you for asking!
Thanks for reply..I live in Sri Lanka..Many people in my country only have four or five clothes.so that's why I asked for donation.
u got this!!!
Aw I appreciate the encouragement! Thank you so much! x

Check out behind the scenes of this video and my thoughts on why it took so long to upload this latest closet clean out video below! Three Months On TH-cam th-cam.com/video/N_wtKFeANsM/w-d-xo.html
I spend so much money on coffee each year so seeing this video was useful for me! 😂 nice job on this video Rachel!
Hi! I’m honestly the same way with coffee! I’ve been trying to decrease how much coffee I get out. It’s difficult though haha. But I really do like this as an alternative or option for making it myself.
@@rachelautumn I take caffeine pills! I don’t have to buy coffee and I get 400mg of caffeine a day I take 2 pills! I did it for 3 months and I saved like $600 not going out and buying coffee! 😂
@@mrwii5741 Oh wow that’s so interesting, I never thought of that option!
@@rachelautumn I take 2 everyday I feel good for the entire day! 😊 I take 2 pills every morning when wake up so I don’t even have to travel and get coffee! Very convenient!
That honestly sounds really convenient and a time saver. I just like the taste of coffee, it doesn’t have to be caffeinated so I’m in that predicament. But that’s awesome you found a better alternative for yourself!
Nice job on this video Rachel! You look really pretty in that black shirt later on in the video! You look really beautiful in those denim overalls at 17:00! Keep up the goodwork with your videos! 😊
Hello! I appreciate it so much, thank you! It’s was definitely a process going through all the clothes. Some work on me and some don’t haha
@@rachelautumn the overalls definitely work your the most beautiful in them! ☺️your pretty! 😊
I love an empty box haha. I dont know what I am keeping them for either. Its hard to see yourself in outfits that you wouldnt usually wear. You did a great job at decluttering. I could do with doing this too x
Hi! It’s so funny, I think that keeping random boxes is just subconscious at this point. But I never get around to reusing the ones I keep. And I agree, trying different clothes or styles is a work in progress. I always resort to my usual style or comfort zone. I’ve been procrastinating going through everything in my closet. But thank you so much, you’re too kind! x
