As an Aussie who lived where schoolies is held, you’re called a Toolie when you are her age at the event. It’s a deeply stigmatised and associated with victimising children. Alison Hammond) and she seems to be getting the deserved backlash for this interview, mainly for her not really pushing back on many of the creator's points. I believe (though don't hold me to it) that she's deleted many of the clips from the interview now, but a proper apology/response to people's concerns would really be necessary for me to continue watching her content. EDIT: Apologies, just got to the bit where you mentioned the backlash. I agree it was deserved. Part of the appeal of her interviews with adult creators and the like is that there's a degree of curiosity about how these industries work, but she didn't at all push back in the way that she should have here, it's very disappointing.

When I was in high school, I was in a religious conservative family. I kept ending friendships with my female friends because I would start feeling awkward around them. I would feel and act the same way I did around a boy I was crushing on, and since I didn't understand why I ran away from them. Australian here, I just want to make a clarification, which actually makes the situation worse. "Schoolies" is not Freshers week (or O-Week as we call it - as in Orientation Week). Few of the students at Schoolies have had their 18th birthday. These are kids who finished their Year 12 exams and had their graduation ceremonies a week or two prior to attending Schoolies. Some have not applied to uni, and those who have, will not have been accepted yet. They haven't even got their Stage 2 (A2 Level) results yet. She should have charges laid against her.

As an Aussie who lived where schoolies is held, you’re called a Toolie when you are her age at the event. It’s a deeply stigmatised and associated with victimising children. They’re are not meant to be there and EVERYONE including these school leavers hate them. Also only a few years ago schoolies were usually 17 not 18 because the age of graduation was changed. These kids finished high school weeks ago!!!

I'm somewhat of a regular viewer of Grace's (wouldn't say a fan, just tune in if she interviews someone i like ie. Alison Hammond) and she seems to be getting the deserved backlash for this interview, mainly for her not really pushing back on many of the creator's points. I believe (though don't hold me to it) that she's deleted many of the clips from the interview now, but a proper apology/response to people's concerns would really be necessary for me to continue watching her content.
EDIT: Apologies, just got to the bit where you mentioned the backlash. I agree it was deserved. Part of the appeal of her interviews with adult creators and the like is that there's a degree of curiosity about how these industries work, but she didn't at all push back in the way that she should have here, it's very disappointing.
Controversial opinion, but I think it's important that she doesn't judge anyone, so that everyone feels safe to go on the show and be as honest as possible, and THEN get exposed. If you are interviewing anyone, it's important to give the interviewee a safe space. Otherwise controversial characters won't go on her show. The public will do their thing, which is important and valid and deserved, but the interview process should be neutral. This isn't Dr. Phil.
Edit: I also think the interviewer puts on a role. She has a horrified look on her face and her arms are crossed, I don't think she MEANS "of course", it's more like "oh, of course you would think/do that, sure, go on, give me some more viral content, this is gold"

When I was in high school, I was in a religious conservative family. I kept ending friendships with my female friends because I would start feeling awkward around them. I would feel and act the same way I did around a boy I was crushing on, and since I didn't understand why I ran away from them. This was despite loving their feminine energy and thinking they were perfect. After reaching a point where I realized I was Bi, I was able to have friendships with women that were long-lasting because I was able to understand that feeling and move past it. Crushing is normal but once you let yourself acknowledge you find them attractive but you don't want to act on that attraction, I find it just goes away - which is what I did with male friends growing up.

as someone from the Gold Coast, where schoolies is hosted every year, fake IDs are HUGE here. So many 16-17 year olds have them to get into clubs etc. Also, the majority of school-leavers in this state are actually 17, when I was in high school about 80% were 17 when they graduated.

"Schoolies" is not Freshers week (or O-Week as we call it - as in Orientation Week). Few of the students at Schoolies have had their 18th birthday. These are kids who finished their Year 12 exams and had their graduation ceremonies a week or two prior to attending Schoolies. Some have not applied to uni, and those who have, will not have been accepted yet. They haven't even got their Stage 2 (A2 Level) results yet. She should have charges laid against her.
If this scenario would be reversed, a 27 year old guy who lies about his age, making sexual content with 18 year old girls. Oh boy, this would be a different story.

Lets just say it as it is, 18 year olds are still teenagers. The only thing that separates them from a 17 year old, is 1 year and the law. This also goes for a 19yo. So many of us are expected to already know the world at those ages when we're barely 20, and haven't experienced life in the slightest. The law doesn't suddenly change that and make your frontal lobe speed up the aging process.
