Alamo is great about kicking people out for noise
I'd have a guillotine outside and heads on spikes!
I wish more cinemas would do this!
GREAT way to celebrate the day, get content out, but still maintain solidarity with striking workers! 💜
Thank you!
What a lovely idea - reviewing the cinema. That one with the Shining carpet looks fantastic. Much nicer than the cinema I remember growing up with which didn't even have stereo audio, let alone comfy seats - but it did have nasty seventies carpeting like that. I think I'm glad about the automatic gratuity on the table service though - Not a fan of US tipping culture, and that's a fair way to help get rid of it. No-one should feel obligated to tip twice, and this way everyone gets treated fairly.
Tipping culture is truly getting out of hand here. I don't mind the automatic gratuity, just not the double tipping. Companies just need to pay their employees livable wages like in other countries.
Ahhhhhh, the Arundel Mills movie theater. I used to go there all the time when I lived in Baltimore. It was almost literally down the street from a friend's house.
I loved visiting Baltimore! I would honestly consider moving there.
I live near Leeds in Yorkshire, U.K., and my favourite cinemas are my local, The Ilkley Cinema which has two tiny theatres, possibly 100 seats in each, and no seats, just comfy settees with a side table so you can take in a bottle of your chosen Vino Collapso. You can order food too like your local one, including pizza delivered to your seat. The other is in Leeds itself, the nationally renowned Hyde Park Picture House, which has just reopened after a million pound plus refit (but which has hopefully kept the more ‘vintage’ features - not had chance to visit yet!).
I so agree about people using their phones during the film. It should get you thrown out, but in the U.K. is only likely to get you severely tutted at!
Those cinemas sound great! I have an old smaller one near me with that vintage feel.
As an autistic person, I’ve always been anxious every time I went to the theater. The one exception was when I went to an Alamo Drafthouse a few years ago to see the 50th anniversary remaster of The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine with my dad. IMO it’s by far the best way to watch a movie. Sure it’s quite a bit pricier than your average Cinemark or Regal Theater, but it’s worth it for the experience.
For sure! It's a much more calm experience. I get distracted very easily. So when people have their phones out or are talking, I can't focus on the movie. If I go to an average cinema, it's usually super late at night when it's not too busy.
An inspired, oblique plan!
I do eagerly await your review of "Blue Beetle" though. I get the feeling they've given him a Kamala Khan kind of feel, where it's less about him as an individual, and more about him in his family. That's a strength of both characters in the comics.
Speaking of, the actor who plays Kamala, Iman Vellani, is writing the Ms Marvel comic these days. She knows her stuff!
... if you're looking for something to do, I'd enjoy your take on "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". It's a funny movie, but mostly I think you'd also have things to say about the cinematography. It was a movie made on a shoestring budget, but man, they made the most out of that shoestring.
I won't be officially reviewing Blue Beetle, but what you said is spot on.
I love that Iman Vellani is a true fan.
It's terrible that I still haven't seen that movie.
@@ReelMisfits I know! I'm in tears every single day because you haven't seen it. EVERY SINGLE DAY.
number of movies you could watch in one day in 2000s, 8;
number of movies you could watch in one day in 2023, 1...
the old days when the movies were 1h30-40 long...
such a smart idea to change cinema for the national cinema day !
Netflix had a category for 90min movies. I enjoy the occasional 3 hour film, but 90min is perfect.
Hello reel misfits great videos 💯💯👍👍 keep it up love it 🇨🇦🇯🇴 and what aher movies do you see
Thank you!
I keep my movie ticket stubs, too!!! I don't have nearly as many as you, but yeah - no to receipts and yes to stubs!! ^_^
I accidentally threw out my Alamo Drafthouse ticket because I thought it was just another receipt. :(
Auburn hills Michigan Amc in Great lakes crossing mall is the closest to me but they charge so much more then emagine in Novi or mjr in waterfordwhich are farther away while having much better seats and better food while still charging about half the price of the auburn hills Michigan amc which is much closer to me but never impresses me. To the point the last several years I'd rather wait til the movies make it to dvds/blu-ray to watch in the comfort of my own home unless my wife or nephew are begging to see something the day it its the theater. Or if the local blood cancer charity has a benefit going on in Novi then ill go to that to support them after they helped my family so much 28 years ago the first time my mother had cancer.
Amcs are very expensive! I don't usually go there. Since Covid, I haven't been going to the cinema as much as I used to. I'll wait for streaming sometimes.
I'm sorry to hear about your mother, but I'm glad that charity was so supportive.
Talking about Movies. On TH-cam do you ever watch any Hastings Mystery Theater Movies. Movies today spend a fortune on Special Effects and little on the Script. The Channel I just mentioned are all Old B/W Movies and the Script means everything. Great Movies.
I haven't but I'll check it out! We might see a resurgence of films like that while all the big productions are shut down.
@@ReelMisfits That would be Great.
They famously kicked Madonna out of the Alamo for being on her phone.
Nice!
Good grief, you Americans ķnow how to do cinemas right! The ones here in the UK are like what you had in the 90s. Solidarity with the strikers!
Haha we do have that going for us. 100% solidarity!
