I think people in the games industry need protection too. Also online content creators in general. There a lot of overlap in terms of skills with the WGA and SAG/AFTRA. I get that the reason those unions have been effective in the past is because of the centralisation of the industry in Hollywood, but since pay and residuals relating to streaming is part of the dispute, the whole of streaming and online needs collective bargaining and a better, structured system for remuneration, IP rights etcetera, I think.
This was a great video. Conventions have certainly changed during the strikes. But, the best part about it is that we can still celebrate the fandoms we enjoy and meet some of the best creative people in the world when we start conversations with them. The vendors/artists are all incredible. I hope the strikes get resolved soon so we can ask those questions of celebrities. But, we can still have fun in the meantime.
I think the Heads of all TV and Movie Studios should be sacked and Actors and Writers take over their Jobs. Let's be honest, they couldn't do a worse Job.
There are some actors talking about starting their own production companies run by creatives (and some already have). I work in the marketing world and the business side truly doesn’t understand the work that goes into the creative side. Creatives are constantly underpaid and undervalued. This needs to change!!
