    I just discovered your channel and excuse me for bombing you with questions. You seem very knowledgable! So glad I found your videos!
    - Is it important to have a perch in front of the metal bowls with food? With square bars, we figured they'd be able to access it from the side.
    - We've got a drinking spot, but it seems only one of the two realizes it's there and the other doesn't quite use it. Will the other eventually learn it from the first, or should we continue to allow him to drink from the bowl we put in the cage (with the idea for them to bathe in, they never have though)? Perhaps it's better to let them have the two alternatives?
    - Do birds enjoy bright colors better than natural browns/greens? Would it be better to add bright colors?
    - Would you say Cockatiels prefer climbing/playing over flying? We're keeping a big chunk of our 3 cubic meter cage open for them to fly, but perhaps they prefer us to fill it with toys to climb?
    I learned so much from this video! I didn't realize we should have one bowl per bird, gonna take care of that straight away!

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much for watching 😊
      We find they are more comfortable with the option of perching in front of the bowls but sometimes they will sit on the bowls to eat!
      - Have their water bowl in a really easy to access place! Cockatiels don't drink as often as other species though! Cockatiels won't necessarily bathe in a water dish as well - some like being sprayed and won't be that often! It won't cause them any harm if they drink from water they have bathed in too!
      - We like to have a mix of colours and natural as they have excellent eyesight!
      They enjoy both climbing and flying so opportunities for both would be great!

    Hey Sophie,
    I noticed the bucket toy under the with the flower shaped holes, the one in the left basket at 13:20.
    There have been reports of that toy from scarletts having staples in the lining / in the seal of the bucket where it is glued together to make the cylinder of the outer bucket.
    Yours may not have them (they might not all have them) but I strongly urge you check the lining of it on the inside as I wouldn't want any of your birds getting hold of a staple.
    Keep up the great videos!

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention- I had no idea that there were reports of this - I’ve ripped it open and there is one staple so it’s gone straight in the bin. That is shocking that any parrot toy would have staples in.
      I’ll make sure I advise people to avoid this toy in future.

    Hey Sophie, another great video as always. Just had a couple of questions. Firstly, where do you buy your Planet Pleasures toys? I have been really struggling to get hold of some. Couldn’t find any on Scarlett’s or Northern Parrots. Also, does Easichick ever send out sample bags? I would love to try it, but I’m a bit daunted by the large bag sizes. It’s a bit of a risk as I’m not sure if I’m going to like it or not.

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chloe, there's a supply issue with Planet Pleasures toys at the moment but there are some similar ones on Scarlett's under the shredding toys category I think!
      I am not sure about sample bags but it would be worth asking them to see f they offer them!

    Thank you for another excellent video! I want to add bedding to the bottom of the cage and had a look at easichick; someone commented that it might be too coarse for little parrots' feet. Is that true? Is unbleached shredded paper a good alternative, or is it dusty?

    • @BirdNerdSophie

      Easichick is perfectly safe to use with parrots - one one legged Louis especially loves to go down there and explore! You can also use shredded paper if you wanted to.

    Great video and helping us rearrange our cage. Our 7 mo old cockatiel sleeps 12 hours a night on a corner platform perch. Is this ok for his feet or should we replace it with a natural cylindrical one? Secondly, what do you think about swinging perches ?

    • @BirdNerdSophie

    I know I’m very late to this video and I’m very sorry but I do have a concern about the bedding you put at the bottom of there cage I recommend to take that out because you can’t really see their poop so you don’t know if there healthy or not healthy droppings. So I recommend taking that out just to make sure they’re nice and healthy little cockatiels!
    Edit: Disclaimer⚠️ (I am NOT a professional I’m just simply telling my concern!)

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do get to see their poops because I interact with my birds all day long and they don’t spend all day in the cage. If a bird is sick, they won’t just do one weird poop, so when they are out with you, you can see their poops. I’ve been using substrate for years- maybe give it a try yourself!

    Years ago, my cockateil ingested the rope cord of her toy and strangled to death. It was a very tramautising event for my other bird as well as for me, I came home and she was dead on the floor of the cage. Since then, I have never put any toy with a rope cord or something they can pull off and ingest, by accident.. I see some things in the video I would never put inside my birds cage. Just letting you know.

    • @BirdNerdSophie
      @BirdNerdSophie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t got any rope toys in the cage. The things that look like rope are made of sisal which I explained in the video. Sisal is digestible as it is a plant, and breaks easily rather than trapping birds like cotton rope does. I am home all the time, so I know how my birds interact with these toys. Hope that explains things!
