Glad to hear. What vehicle do you have? When I put it back in I had issues only to realize I didn't put the electrical connector tight. 2 minutes later it was a major improvement.
You nailed it. The IAC in the Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 can be a bear to remove and reinstall. Tight fit. I kept the TPS in place that was a mistake. Take it out too and replace it with the IAC. Last year replaced the IAC and this week the TPS had to be replaced. If you are replacing one why not replace both at same time. Use throttle cleaner spray clean and wipe down the throttle too. Rough idle can be due to a number of issues. Before pulling apart the airbox and throwing parts at the engine check your battery. Autozone checks battery capacity on site in minutes for free.
Mine was a bad lodter that caused the rocker arm to come off on Cylinder 8. I did a video on that in my Ram Playlist. Once I replaced the lifters, it was still loose, so I put 2 washers under it. It May be a bad valve seat but with 245k miles on the truck, I figured what the heck.
just bought an old dodge. swore never again. my brother had a yard full of them. i have a preferance for chev or ford of these years myself. first thing i learned, these do not have a MAF sensor. thing didnt want to stay running, idled badly. kept dying. that is why i am here. thinking this is the problem. thanks bud! keep up the awesome viddies.
@@SeanDIY Hi again yes Sir I do own a 04 RAM 1500, I bought a new Idle Air Control and I'll be replacing it soon, thanks for your feed back take care. 😏👍
Sensor above is throttle position sensor ...usually well in various vehicles I've worked on the throttle position sensor (TPS) is attached next to the (AIC) air idle control valve Always both attached to the throttle body 😁
@@JayPa-qk9vj I'm assuming you let it dry out completely before installing again? Also mine would start but die if I wasn't hitting the gas. I realized I didn't put the sensor back in place thighs enough. So the computer didn't know when to open the air control valve. As soon as I snapped the sensor in tight it worked fine. Worth a try?
I did let it dry in the hot sun for awhile first but I took a closer look at it and its way to hard for me to move the inner part by hand so I believe it's stuck so it won't work no lower I got a new one today still no luck with it so it's got to be a different problem then just that valve
I think this is my problem. Had my fuel pump changed, thermostat stuck open changed. My neighbor (a great mechanic) changed the crank sensor that the computer was telling him it was that because my truck would just stall. He ended up cleaning inside the carburetor area with paper towels. Lots of gunk because I think it was caused by the air intake hose fell off. Taking in fresh air not filtered. Started working fine again. The other night it started putt putting a little after idling in traffic. Caused me to scream, wtf now? Lol! I think it's this. Air control valve. Sounds just like it. Also, what lead me to this, I was looking on why my rpm was stuck on 1 and when I stepped on the gas driving I noticed my battery indicator went up and lowered when idling. Suggestions? Could it be the air control valve?
Well, if air was getting in unfiltered that could be really bad for the engine because dirt could be getting in with the air. I would try this and also test the electrical connections on the iac valve and the connector going to it. I can tell you that when I was done cleaning it I forgot to plug it back in and it would stall right away. Assuming it drove well, it may not be that issue, but worth taking a look. I would also look at the spark plugs and also get Techron for the fuel in case it's clogged injectors. I wouldn't keep throwing $ at it until you are pretty confident you got the issue.
@@SeanDIY thanks for the info. Just to give you a heads up on what type of truck I have, it's a 2010 Ram 2500 5.7 hemi. In such mint condition when I bought it that I thought it was a 2018 looking at it. So, I would also like to add that I had a new fuel pump installed. Gas gauge was broken. They put another one it but when my gas gauge is at a 1/4 tank, the gauge will drop to E but a few minutes later it will eventually go up. This has happened several times and I need to bring it back in. My spark plugs were checked. He said they still look good but suggested changing them in 6 months for a peace of mind since I'm at 124,000 miles
Hey are you able to show where the breather hoses connect? I disconnected mine and dont know where they connect. Theres 2 on back end of the engine and 1 bottom near passanger
I wish I could but I sold the vehicle. You cN probably find a schematic. I'd also check to see if the hoses fit in one orientation more than the other.
Have this problem too i just got a tune up because my 2005 jeep grand Cherokee would stall between 40-60mph the tune up fixed thatt but the hard idling and stalling came back! And service engine light still is there Im like really so maybe this is what i need 🤦🏾🥺 it’s never enough with this jeep but i must say it has held me down i had it since 2020
I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 3.7L engine but mine doesn't have the idle control valve on the side where you are pointing to. Is this a different year or engine size?
I clean the troattle body just with a wet napkin an cleaner just to make it look decent an not cause problem with it, well i bolted back on , turn on the motor rpm are an between 1500 an 1800 don’t know what to do
Did you check that it moves back and forth freely? It's possible it's stuck more open than it's supposed to be..Did you also give the engine time to regate when you pit it back in? It could take the computer a bit to figure it out. If the latter doesn't work, inspect it, clean it again and replace it if its.damaged or not working.
Hi there! I watched you GizmoWatch Band replacement video from 2 years ago. One of the prongs (on the actual watch face) on my sons Gizmo Watch snapped off. Now I can’t even put a band on, on one side, so he can’t even wear it. Do you have any ideas of what I could do or if there’s a type of band that could hug the watch so he could wear it? Thanks.
Thank you for watching this video as well. I hope you found it informative. I answered your comment on the other video. Thank you for coming back and watching another one of my videos.
Would this faulty or dirty piece cause my car to stall when turning the AC on? My car is also idling very rough and feels like it might stall when stopped
It could. Check out my latest video on cleaning out your intake as well. th-cam.com/video/cxdUyQoflKY/w-d-xo.html It could be a combination of those things and maybe even a few others like dirty injectors or an air filter that needs to be replaced. Here is a list of what I would check. . th-cam.com/video/YN4u_rBltlg/w-d-xo.html
My battery is currently dying every time I go to turn it on. I recently replaced it and it still dies. Could this be the cause for that? My heat goes out every time I am idling. Are both these issues somehow connected?
I'm not positive, but if I remember correctly that may be a possibility. I can tell you if the electronic plug isn't connected you can't even get the car to stay running. This controls the air at idle, so if it's starved for air, it may just shut down under brake load. It's worth giving it a cleaning and see what happens.
Did this help get it flush to the throttle body? I feel there is still like a 8th inch gap when i shove it back in.. then i just screw it in ( i feel this isnt a good approach lol)
Thank you for the video. I was catching heck trying to get my truck to idle. Followed step by y and now she’s running fine.

Very clear video- although very vague on the spray you are using. I assume its brake clean?
I would not use brake cleaner as it could damage the diaphragm. There is a specific cleaner for the idle.air control valve.
Thanks for the help with this how to video

If your battery keeps dying, I'd check the alternator. That maybe the issue at idle too if it's not producing enough power.
I really doubt it !!!... THE idol control value issue is a whole different issue

Yes it can or not even start
what make is this?
This is from a 2006 Ram 1500 4.7L. Some newer cars don't have an IAC, you have to check your make and model to see if it has one.
A little Vaseline on the gasket (o ring) will help to get the part back in.
Thanks for the tip. I've heard the same, but I'd rather use an O ring lube.
Did this help get it flush to the throttle body? I feel there is still like a 8th inch gap when i shove it back in.. then i just screw it in ( i feel this isnt a good approach lol)
If you have it lined up properly and hand tighten the bolt, then torque it down, you should be fine.
The top valve is your tps
Thank you.
My idle control valve is leaking air by the bolt
Is it a bad gasket on it? Maybe just buy a new one, they cost around $20 or so.
I take those o rings off before I clean it off
That's a great idea
One tiny torks screw on idol IDC valve I believe ,
I think there may have been two, but definitely one.
