I realize you're off the trail now, but found your post-thru-hike gear review video, and well, had to go back and start at #1: The One Where It All Began. I just binge watched your first 7 videos, it's 1:52AM, I have a conference call in a short six hours, and it looks like I'm in it for the long haul! ... Just wanted to say 'thank you' for sharing your journey, tell you that your attitude toward your thru-hike is amazing and your smile simply contagious. Oh and that part back there on Max Patch ... yes, THAT!
The paper trees are American Beech. You can eat the fruit in season, when ripe. Be careful they have a two part shell. An outer shell and an inner shell that is hard to get off. When the are ripe they are good.
yeah you need a hiking buddy. LOL 59 years old now. you remind of my youngest daughter. she would be a good hiking buddy. I did the pct 16 years ago mostly solo with no trail name. hate trail names for me. did three sections of the AT last summer, and the Arizona trail southbound in October 2021. No fricken water and saw 1 other thruhiker the whole time. I am good at being alone on the trail but that was ridiculous. Planning the Colorado trail in July but little concerned with altitude sickness potential? may do the AT from Georgia to Harpersferry instead? still deciding. your thoughts?
I'm really enjoying your videos. You have the perfect balance of talking and showing the trail and scenery. I feel so bad for you that there aren't many people out there. I see more and more people getting back on the trail so my guess is that you'll start seeing more hikers out there soon.
This is my 7th video I have watched without liking or commenting. But, I really like your video's. I especially like your quite ways. It is November now and I will try to figure out if you made it. I have hiked all the trail you have been on so far. The Bald Mt. Shelter is one of my favorites. Thanks.
The paper trees are beech …. when they get bigger they have smooth gray bark that people carve their initials in and it stays for years and years. You're doing great love your video style!!! Corner
That hike down into Uncle Johnny's sounds and looks so close, but you're right, it takes forever to get there. It's like downhill false summits. A real pisser.
Awww, I hope you find your tramily soon! I don't know which is worse, too many or too few people. I plan to head out for the trail in a week or two. I haven't decided if I'm gonna start where I left off at Damascus or start a flip flop from McAfee Knob or Harper's Ferry.
You’re doing a great job! Keep going! You’ve inspired me to think about starting in Damascus at the end of the month! Also, hope you find your trail family.
Hitchhiking in a pandemic - thats like a double whammy of risk! 🤣 🤣 Glad it worked out. Pal's is an East Tennessee staple - my daughter would drink nothing but their sweet tea if she could get away with it. Looking forward to seeing that snowy Roan Mountain video!
Yep I agree God created us as social beings. During this quarantine time my daughter lives across town and works as an ICU covid nurse and I haven't been able to see her or give her a hug in a couple of months and it's killing me. Hang in there. More and more thru hikers are getting back on the trail to resume their hikes so the social aspect will return some. You know what they say. "The trail provides"!
I think you should mention the date on each of your videos. It would make it easier for us to follow. Other than that, I think they’re great. I like the music. It enhances your videos well.
Thanks for another great video! I know that dealing with the loneliness on trail can be tough, but hang in there! As others have commented, eventually more people will be out on trail. In the meantime, please don't lose sight of the goal of making it to Katahdin! Also, "Dixie" from Homemade Wanderlust put together a wonderful video with tips for thru hikers that you may find helpful. th-cam.com/video/1f24QIRtG4A/w-d-xo.html

You must have hiking fever! I've definitely been down the video wormhole too!
So glad could get a message in. You are doing great!
Hello from Malaysia. Am enjoying watching your AT hike videos. I was stuck at home in lockdown most of last year, sigh...

FYI you’re doing great and you’re videos are interesting and well done. You come across as a very likable person.
Thank you :)

Awesome video update 👍🌲Thank you for sharing this with us 👣.
Section hiking is how I plan to begin my hike. I wish I could take 6 months to do a thru hike.
