@@mikerogu5089 Yes he had lost pace with the knee injury in 2000 but he was still very quick during his first two seasons at United. I think his speed really dropped when he injured his Achilles' tendon in 2004.
Imagine how many more goals he would have scored if he had stayed longer!, RUUUUUUUUD!!!

He was a legend but I think towards the end his injury slowed him down we were quicker with Ronaldo and rooney

I remember Ruud signing his Autograph and then THANKING me imagine being thanked by a True Legend of MUFC such a humble man and not like certain player's who hold our club to ransom yet NEVER put in a shift like Ruud did we had some great Strikers at United but Ruud was my No1 of all time.

Great video lads. Ruud for me was the best centre forward that we’ve ever had. I will never forget one of his goals he scored against Arsenal at Highbury when he ran down the left wing from half way line and put it in the back of net. Never been one for having players names on the back of my shirt but he was an exception. Remember having his name printed which was about 3 miles long and saying HOW MUCH? Is that the price or the time? 🤣🤣

Would Haaland remind you of him? Those types of player are proper centre forwards and very rare in the game today. Class to watch, hungry and direct. Can't beat that.

Best penalty taker I’ve seen. Side netting and if the keeper went the right way still couldn’t save it
I swear Ruud was the only player I ever saw who was like two stikers by himself. Occupied both centre backs. Strong fella could take a bad pass (including wacked right at his face) hold off the defender, get the ball out to the wing, get into the box and finish. Could run with and off the ball too. Underrated because Henry was at Arsenal doing more build up play and was scoring and assisting combined more than anyone else in league history. 45 goals in his first season. Ruud was immence he was so good he ended the careers of Cole, Yorke and Sheringham at Old Trafford. Litterally Solskjaer survived and that was it.
Fergie wanted him and was willing to wait for him and boy was he well worth waiting for. What a top top striker Ruud was for us. Loved him! Just wish he`d been kept on for another few seasons and we had one as good as him now. A Cavani 5/10 yrs younger would do nicely. I have to be honest Tony, my best memories of Ruud was in his first 2 seasons... but the final 2 seasons really left a sour taste, it felt the same with Lukaku in Ole's first season... The club was moving one way and he was on the opposite. Like Lukaku short stint... I knew Ruud will continue to score goals but there wasn't good balance in the team... everyone was on the field to support him and that wasn't very pleasant.
Ruud was one of our best strikers ever, his record back then was crazy, he was so much better then lukaku even on his worst days
@@wassk1501 time heals... every United fan pretty much got annoyed at Ruud in his final season. It was so sad seeing Becks or Ronny left let alone doing well at other clubs... but nobody cared when Ruud went... it was about time and we won the league with better balance.
Dont get me wrong, I still rate him highly, higher than Cavani or Chicharito in the box... Which means he was the best but people overhyped him to the point of being overrated.

A bit underappreciated in my opinion.. maybe because he only scored one goal outside the box in Manchester ? But if you look at his highlight reel he is also creating goals and like u said he had moved to pass guys. In the teams he played he just didn't need to score outside the box..

I would agree with Webby only if we had flankers like David Beckham delivering the crosses. This United team looks like its being modeled after the 2006-2008 team, interchanging front three. So unfortunately, Ruud will not enjoy it.
Nistelrooy scored in all competitions all over Europe ..shearer only really scored in the premiership..if hed of stayed rooney wouldnt be the record scorer .
