    In just 2 Notes John Williams had created the most famous and recognizable movie theme song of All-Time. The soundtrack to JAWS is an absolutely epic masterpiece...

    • @MiScusi69
      @MiScusi69 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      But he copied it from Dvorak's 9th symphony, LOL

    • @williamholke3325
      @williamholke3325 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      @@MiScusi69lol so all of a sudden a minor second motif makes it copying? Dvorak uses that motif to create something much more melodic and grand in nature. Williams uses the minor second motif as a driving pulse to create a much more eerie and frightening theme. He did not copy Dvorak

    • @MiScusi69
      @MiScusi69 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@williamholke3325 it's not just a minor second, it's a repeated semitone in the low register; but you are right, it isn't really a copy and one cannot call it plagiarism, I just wanted to make OP understand that John Williams did not "create" the theme, it's just a very obvious motif (which Williams orchestrated 100 times worse and more repetitively than Dvorak, and Dvorak isn't even a great orchestrator).
      But the final purpose of my comment was to make people understand that John Williams should *not* be hailed as much (if not more!) as the actual great composers who have lots of creativity, and that he is frequently a plagiarist (just think of the main theme of Star Wars, completely copied from Korngold's _King's Row_ )

    • @williamholke3325
      @williamholke3325 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@MiScusi69 if you're going to bring up King's Row, only the first five notes are the same, so if you are going say that one composer owns the rights to five notes in a specific order, I'd say that's pretty crazy. Star Wars and King's Row are completely different minus the opening. John Williams does not plagiarize. He may borrow some brief motifs or ideas here and there, but he does not steal a complete phrase note for note, which would be plagiarism

      Bro those two notes just because they’re low doesn’t mean they’re malevolent 😂 what are you smoking, if anything the FREQUENCY of the notes matters far more, which is why the Elite made sure the Hz was just right in order for it not to be melodic but chaotic. And it’s not usually recognized consciously. These two jaw notes tho aren’t malevolent in any way.

      I’m sure it could be done digitally, but I don’t know enough to say for sure or how.

    • @Riceball01
      @Riceball01 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jonbar140 Depends on what you mean by digitally. If you mean that it can't be done by using a digital camera, I'm certain that it could since a digital camera mimics a film camera in every aspect except that it doesn't use film. This is a simple trick to pull off, it's (I believe) called a dolly zoom and what it entails is moving the camera on a rail (the dolly0 towards or away from the the subject while simultaneously zooming in or out. You could do this using the camera on your phone while walking backwards or getting pulled on skateboard or a furniture dolly., it just wouldn't be as smoot as with a proper camera with a lens that you can operate the zoom with more than just 2 fingers on the screen, but the principle would be the exact same.

      Limitations are good for spicing up a movie. George Lucas got more control over his movies as he was making the prequel and that might be why they are so much worse than the original trilogy.
      Clerks was recorded in Black and white to hide the fact that it was all recorded at night.
      Marlon Brando had gain weight so the director shot him in ways to hide it creating a iconic look in apocalypse now.

    Here's why John Williams is great. Better than all the modern composers: He understands the power of simplicity & the magic of a remembering the music after you've seen the movie. Guys like Michael Giacchino may make technically more impressive music, but I forget the music the minute I exit the theater. Within 2 notes, I know the Jaws music, even 20 years after I've seen the movie.

    Williams is to film scores what Tarantino is to films… almost every major piece can be directly traced to a pre-existing idea by classical composers(In this case “The Rite of Spring”), but he takes it to new realms with his sensibilities and maps it out across the story.
    He is STILL the damn best… the absolute sweeping rapture of Spielberg & Williams is unmatched.
