How can a magnificent rare COMEDIC GENIUS like Barry have left us? Never ever will there be another. A gift from Australia to the world. We love you Barry. RIP.
@@tiffytattoo2450 No, I'm not confused, unfortunately for you. I was just commenting on some people's taste in humor, which I find crass in every way. Looks like you have taken that personally. And that's good!👍

You are so right. Michael Parkinson, Terry Wogan, Steve Wright. The masters of interviewing who listened and understood it wasn’t about them. All gone sadly.
Michael Aspel is a true professional. He's such a gentleman ....and has a great sense of humour. He knew that giving Humpries free rein would make great television - and so just let him loose 😆
I love how his ploy on every interview was to take over the show and then thank everyone for coming. He was as aussie as Vegemite. Miss your talent, mate.
I was in my teens when Barry Humphries rose to stardom in Australia and I was hooked. I followed his career and attended some of his Australian performances thereafter. The greatest Australian comic of that era.
Gos, I really miss Dame Edna…We sure could do with her in this miserable world…Thank you Barry Humphrey’s….Thank you so very much for all the laughter……You are sadly missed….
Michael Aspel was such a dashing looking man. Even now, at age 91 and living with lymphoma, he's amazing. I'm sure many talk show hosts still look up to him.
God bless Barry. He was SO AHEAD of his time with this character. And only he could pull it off with his quick wit and charm. His timing for jokes was impeccable and he barely was caught off guard. And if he was he knew exactly how to take it on. He was a well traveled and VERY learned man as well. Their will never be another. RIP Barry.
And to think the Melbourne Comedy Festival organisers want to ‘cancel’ Barry because he expressed his own opinion honestly . He had so much more talent than all of them put together. Who do they think they are? Thanks for the laughs Barry!
Barry will always be loved and remembered by his millions of fans around the world for many years to come and hold a special place in history as one of the greatest comedians of all time. He was wonderful and spread so much laughter and happiness to so many and still does and will be remembered with love always, long after his critics from Melb. Com Fest are dead and gone. I saw every show from 1975 until 2019 and they were alway a riot ! Hilarious! Pure genious! A rare diamond. ❤❤❤
David Essex has always had such a beautiful face and has always seemed like a good old-fashioned English Gentleman....Still is in 2024 at the age of nearly 80 I should think in fact!
Barry’s creation Dame Edna has to be the funniest ever. Her acid tongue still has me laughing today and is timeless. Watching it today still makes me laugh 😂😂😂😂
His wit and speed of thought is incredible. How he keeps the comedy flowing for so long is pure class. Just a brilliant entertainer, the like of who will never be seen again.
I couldn't stand Barry Humpries! "and yet" I have to say that Dame Edna was so iconic and legendary. There are so few who could have pulled off such a unique and beloved character.
The thing is, this isn't really a drag act because Edna is an exaggerated version of a real woman. She's one of the women Barry observed while growing up in suburban Melbourne. She isn't effeminate.
My mother surprised my brothers & I with tickets back in 1979, we had front row seats, she was brilliant, laughed so hard I can still recall with clarity.
Miss Barry so much. Person I loved most in Australia. He was the funniest and cleverest performer. What a quick wit, and so inclusive of everyone round him especially in interview panels. What a legend!!!
How can a magnificent rare COMEDIC GENIUS like Barry have left us? Never ever will there be another. A gift from Australia to the world. We love you Barry. RIP.
Totally hilarious
Perfectly well said !!! There will never be one like him.
Why is everyone talking about Barry Humphries? Sure he was a great manager but Dame Edna was the the real comedic genius!
Michael Aspel darlings
I used to see him around my neighborhood.
They’ll never be another. Absolutely wonderful Barry Humphries, who gave laughter and happiness to millions
Clare Rayner was such a good sport here bless her x
Dame Edna has left the building- Thanks for all those laughs
One of best comics to ever grace the earth.... Barry's wit is razor sharp.... brilliant
Indeed. Very well said.
I miss the greatest comic talent that was Dame Edna
With Dame Edna, I always loved how everybody bought into the act. Barry Humpries was a comedy genious.
If people 'bought into the act', it's not their fault. What did you expect them to do? Lift HIS skirts, tear HIS tights, to check?
@@MJ-hl1kk Get over yourself, people who didn't want to be around Edna simply chose not to. You can too.

Dame Edna was hilarious. Loved the interaction with Clare Rayner she was great.
Saw a Dame Edna show in London in the 90s. Quite possibly the funniest show I've ever seen.
RIP Barry Humphries and thank you for all you gave us ❤
Yes I used to look forward to it on Saturday evenings. He had stellar guests, like Tom Jones and Lauren Bacall for eg.
I saw the Dame in San Francisco.
When people could take a joke and weren't offended by everything...love Barry
Right?! Conservative Boomer types are so offended by everyone else’s mere existence, they really should just get over it.
oh i don't think so. people were hurt back then since we're all human. claire clearly was. it's just that people had to pretend to not be crying inside to make others happy. i prefer now.
THOSE were THE DAYS!
HEY
David was offended. Look at his face.
When interviewers asked a question and then kept quiet and let their guests ramble. How I wish they would do that now.
Except Graham Norton. Love him.
The Brit interviewers usually had better manners than Anerican hosts.
Tell Fiona Bruce that!!!😅
You are so right. Michael Parkinson, Terry Wogan, Steve Wright. The masters of interviewing who listened and understood it wasn’t about them. All gone sadly.
What a true point !
We NEED Dame Edna TODAY!
For sure!!
Desperately !
Martin Short is recently doing a character named Jimminy Glick . He's sort of a male Dame Edna.
No one stands a chance when Dame Edna's on.
Was this universe ever big enough to contain her? lovely to find interviews like this, those laughs just keep on comin!
I absolutely love it when she completely takes over the show at the end and thanks everyone as her guests, including the host! haha!
Yeah, you would also do that, I'm sure, seeing that you're such an admirer of GROSS.
@@MJ-hl1kkWhat do you mean by that? What are you saying is gross?

Love Dame Edna and Clare Rayner is a brilliant sport and what a lovely talking voice she has. X
Clare Rayner played the stooge to Edna brilliantly! Who knew she had such a great sense of humour.
Thank you, my thoughts exactly.
She was very good on Radio 4's Any Questions as well.
She understood the assignment 😘 as an Agony Aunt, she must've met some characters over the years. She was great back in the day 🤩
She did. Lovely woman and David was so beautiful and polite. Lovely man.
She was WONDERFUL! What a fantastic lady! Thanks Claire x
As an aussie, I love Dame Edna but truth is, I'm here to gawk at David Essex. I had such a crush on him back in the day. 😍

So lovely to see David Essex there too :) such a gentleman, standing up to greet her, and not sitting down till she did :)
What a gift to the world Dame Edna was. Thank you forever, ol' Barry! ❤❤❤❤❤
So true !
Absolutely 👍🙏❤️
Probably the funniest, and easily the most quick-witted entertainer, that I ever saw live. Barry Humphries was a comic genius.
Great times when people weren't offended over everything
Definitely can’t get comedy like that anymore-hilarious! 😂😂😂
Love that Clare Rayner is up,for a laugh

Dame Edna is so quick, she's slightly had a pop at them before they realise 😂. I think David Essex was confused about it all 😂
David Essex looking beautifully bewildered!
Overwhelmed and nervous. Fixed smile and terrified to make a noise
I love how his ploy on every interview was to take over the show and then thank everyone for coming. He was as aussie as Vegemite. Miss your talent, mate.
'as Vegemite' --- But much tastier!
It was lovely to see David and Micheal remain standing, whilst waiting for the ladies to sit down.
We’ve all lost Barry now … but my God … he lives on and continues to make us HOWL ❤🏴
RIP dear Dame! Thank you for all the lovely laughs you given the world and me!!!!
Dame Edna was brilliantly funny! Thanks for sharing!
CREAKING chairs what genius purchased them ?
No one will ever come close to her. 💗💗💗
When we were allowed to have free comedy❤

I am amazed at people who see Dame Edna and don't recognize who or what she is. So amusing. The best ever.
David had such an angelic face.
Really funny comedians like Dame Edna and Little Britain would never be allowed in this boring political correct time.
Love Little Britten. And the Fast Show. Suit you sir!!
Yes. The soul has gone out of comedy these days.
Couldn’t have a talent like Dame Edna today-someone would get ‘offended’ , be ‘traumatised’ need therapy, and have him banned
Quite right. And our loss
She’d be cancelled within one interview sadly
