- Dame Edna Everage's funniest chat show moments, featuring the likes of Tom Jones, Judi Dench, Helen Mirren, Lauren Bacall, Richard Gere, Joan Rivers, Gloria Swanson, Elton John, U2, Joan Collins, Jane Seymour, Will Young, Billie Jean King, Jonathan Ross, Michael Parkinson, Des O'Connor, Lenny Henry, Simon Pegg, Martin Sheen, Sharon Osborne, Piers Morgan and more.
Dame Edna had the two keys to being a comedic genius: razor sharp wit and perfect timing.
I think Ronnie Barker had those two qualities too.
And the 3rd key, hilariously funny
And let's add brilliant use of facial expressions...
So true!
@geoffjoseph8251 What the f is a 3rd key you weirdo?
Dame Edna was one of a kind. Though many have tried, None have had her class, grace and shear delight. I MISS the great Dame Edna!❤❤❤
Absolutely brilliant. He took pain and turned it into something just wonderful. God rest his soul.
Dame edna
.
So it's a man, right? I just wasn't certain but felt it was a cross dresser...comedy ahead its time.
@@Emy53 Barry was doing this in the fifties
@@zapkvrwondering if Mrs Slocombe character was a copy of Dame Edna since AYBS came out in early 70s
Edna was in the grand British tradition of guys dressing up as women! She was the absolute queen of this art form.
There was only 1 Dame Edna. She was the best of the best. I hope in Heaven she is making them all happy campers.
What brilliance he had...... 21 gun salute to you John Barry Humphries.... You did Australia well......RIP
He was the only man dressed as a woman that I could stand. What's more he was very very funny. Rest in peace Barry. God bless you.
We will never see anything like her again. Outstandingly brilliant
🤞
No!
Oh my god! Dame Edna sharing the set with Gloria Swanson! And I love Lauren Bacall's hearty, unfiltered enjoyment of Edna's unfiltered observations of Richard Gere ( a good sport)
A a
Yes with Gloria Swanston! Goodness me! Gloria was FINALLY outdone!!! The look on her face is priceless.
I can't make up my mind if Richard was in on the joke from the outset. Lauren laughed non-stop but poor Richard looked amused/bemused in equal measure.
@@patriciacathcart9233 I was left with the impression that Richard Gere didn't get the humour, wasn't trying to, and was doing his best to appear polite (and only juuuusssst succeeding).
@@patriciacathcart9233he was hammered. I don’t think he liked it.
How on Earth,'she' manages to keep a straight face while everyone else is collapsing with laughter... I'll never understand how she manages to do that and just carry on,quite amazing really and thank goodness we can look back at all these wonderful clips on TH-cam when we're having a bad day!!
Absolutely love her sharp wit, expressive facial expressions and flamboyant personality...she was a natural anti-depressant. !!!
Dame Edna, what a superstar, will be greatly missed ❤️❤️
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face...
A comedic genius and great story teller , who held everybody in the palm of his hand . Even Robin Williams !
Well, debatable: th-cam.com/video/lSdt1B_4Giw/w-d-xo.html
Yes! I fully get why Robin did.
What a great compilation showing the absolute genius of Edna and Barry. Just brilliant.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face...
What a lovely compilation, possum. I smiled, chuckled and glowed for the entire half hour. There will never be a megastar anywhere like her.
Are you in England or America, like me? I wonder about the different experiences of Dame Edna from here to across the pond. I suspect that she, her take on life and culture hits us both the same.
@@ce311 I suspect Edna was a lot more transgressive for Americans than Australians or the English. It took Americans a lot longer to understand Edna. I watched an Edna tv special in the 80s with a group of Americans who didn't understand her at all.
He even came out strongly in support of biological reality. He was a Terf ❤️
Megastar?! She was a self-proclaimed gigastar by the end, possum, thank you very much! 😀
I don’t think Dame Edna’s humor went well with Americans. I’m trying to think now what the American sense of humor is, but it’s not Edna’s. I’m in America and I love her but I’m not typical by any means.
Thank you for this magnificent compilation of Dame Edna's unparalleled humor! I still can't get over Barry Humphries' death.
Yep, I know how you feel.
Never again we will have the brilliance of Barry, thank you so very much .
Of course, there will be.
The chat show guest to end all chat show guests. An absolute legend. RIP Dame Edna 😂
😊
The love of my life. You have been called my love
I hadn't known Barry had passed until I just saw your comment. My life is sadder for his passing, but immeasurably happier for knowing of him.
Every chat show with Dame Edna becomes a Dame Edna chat show.
A lot of laughter left with him. He will be so missed!
The most talented entertainer of all time...........
What a wonderful Dame Edna montage! Rest peacefully, our Edna!
“Judy and Sharon, what funeral have you just been to?” 😂😂😂
21 mins in second (or maybe third) section with Lenny Henry when he starts to raise his profile and the Kunta Kinte come back from Dame Edna turning Henry's own trick against him and re-establishing "herself" on top: just brilliant.
Quite the contrast: Lenny Henry, one of the worst comedians, and Barry Humphreys, one of the best.
Something that upsets me more than I thought it would - I’ll never get to see Dame Edna, Sir Les or Barry Humphries in person. Definitely an opportunity missed.
Saw the Broadway performance in NYC -- had no idea what I was seeing. By myself. Sat next to a woman in her 70s. She was alone. I was alone. We both laughed hysterically until our faces hurt and tears rolled down our cheeks. We had a beautiful night at the theater then, at the said, said our goodbyes, agreeing that this was exactly what we needed in our lives and went our separate ways. I will NEVER forget it.
@@beaellie9766 That's a really nice story.
Saw her once in the 1970's - both hilarious and terrifying. Terrifying that she might pick on me, and I'm sure everybody felt the same about themselves...a next level comic genius...
Saw her in late 1970s in Hobart, Tasmania. So much more cheeky and outrageous than television. Les Patterson was equally wild. Sandy Stone was an amazing performance, "I'm glad I'm not alive anymore", you could hear a pin drop,. Many parts of Sandy were relevant to Australia and still are.
Hopefully dame Edna is the greet and meet in heaven so you'll definitely get to see her😅
What I love most about being Aussie is our self deprecating humour , and Dame Edna does it so well, taking the Mickey or piss is what we do best, not taking ourselves so serious
Even when you know exactly what she's going to say it's still hilarious.
That's the bit I don't agree with
This 'act' ran for over 60 years.
I found it tiresome and repetitive when I knew what was going to happen next
All those celebrities and she outshines them all .
A genius. She'll always be an icon to us mere mortals. 😂❤❤❤❤
Outstanding thank you..a very talented man with a biting humour...RIP fella you were amazing 😍
I am aching with laughter and I'm only halfway through!😂😂
"He toyed with the priesthood", just peerless.
Peerless is the perfect word for Barry/Dame Edna.
A great compilation, with an eclectic mix of clips, thanks for uploading. RIP Barry Humphries.
So good.......the world has lost one of its greats. Rest in peace dame Edna ❤
Legend. Priceless, We miss you already Edna .
R.I.P To barry / Michael...am still crying with laughter...god bless you all..
RIP Parky, up there interviewing the best 🙏
we lost 2 of the funniest people ever in months Dame Edna and Lily Savage RIP to both of them
Why thank you from the bottom of my heart , this compilation is,PERFECTION ❤❤😂😂😂😂😂 seriously Perfection
Thanks for putting this all together. I am gonna come back to this many times. Such amazing character. So much fun and genius wit.
Easily one of greatest and funniest characters of all time. Dame Edna is up there with Tommy Cooper and Bob Monkhouse for laughing before they even opened their mouths.
Love Dame Edna tearing into Piers Morgan who is still a wanna be IMHO.
You never know how much talent they have till their gone ❤
We knew long time ago.
We always knew. Rip Barry 😢
U sure about that? The guy was a legend.
More like not fully appreciated - you just thought she was going to be around for ever.
LOVE HER! HYSTERICAL!!
She was a consumate professional. Every appearance was a bravura performance in the fullest sense of the word.
Probably my favourite laugh when I feel like it. Guarantee, insanity plus. Thanks u-tube, for these amazing memories. Thanks 🙏 Bazza.
So great. Dame Edna, genius. Look for her interview with kd lang...one of Edna's greatest lines.
Kd lang was so so funny. Such a lovely woman
Truly one of the greats
Love The Dame. I'd love to see Richard Gere's lil bits! Hilarious!
0h Barry Humphries was such a genius. I came across him when I was a teen through his astonishing book 'Bizarre', then followed his characters Sandy Stone and more. Dame Edna was of course his crowning glory, simply the best. He actually reminds me of my Dad, how he could hold focus through his rambling stories while we wondered in what direction the punchline was going to land. RIP, both of you Oz legends
What a great compilation thank you so much!!
I have never seen anyone get away with saying whatever they want to someone and get big laughs from them. If anyone else said these things offence would be taken. Absolute genius delivery and timing. Pee Wee Herman and Dame Edna are two of my biggest influences in my life. You want to learn how to make people around you comfortable and like you, watch Dame Edna. There is nothing more exposed for a human than crying or laughing uncontrollably and to make a whole room do that is impressive.
Hilarious! Lauren Bacall look GREAT!
He gave me the thumbs up. Nuff sed 😂😂😂😂
A COMEDIC ONE-OF-A-KIND BRILLIANT GENIUS WITH AN EVERPRESENT WIT.....JUST FABULOUS..... I CANT STOP LAUGHING ..DAME EDNA WILL BE TRULY MISSED..
Everyone I spot giving me Dame Edna vibe I sigh remembering fondly our comedy genius glamorous darling Dame Edna
sending love, honesty is a gift you give to yourself and others, It fosters trust respect and deeper connections, have you seen this gem live?
Barry, as a avid fan of yours ,I think you were a pure genius 😂, there’s just nobody to compare with you 😂
God bless barrie/Edna. Effortlessly hilarious, an icon !
My favorite moment: when Dame Edna said to k.d.lang, "I don't believe in mincing words, I like to tell it like it is. k. d., when did you...and I ask this in all honesty...when did you first....know that you ... were...a Canadian?"
I wish Barry could see all these wonderful comments since he passed away. But he knew he was loved .
Richard Gere had no idea how to take Dame Edna 😂
Brilliant compilation. Thanks so much for putting it together. Awesome work!
Richard Ghia copped it it’s well worth watching that one. She really hammered him.
fantastic compilation! watched all of it, wished there was more!
I grew up on Dame Edna and I had no idea whom Barry Humphries was nor he had played Dame Edna. Never occurred to me that they were the same person.
Barry Humphries was a true comic genius.
What a genius he was ❤ ❤❤
She is always AMAZING!
Barry Humphries character creation Dame Edna Everage is a true comic genius.
She makes for an absolutely funny chat show guest. Her acid tongue is hysterical 😂😂😂😂. Other guests just don’t have a chance.
RIP Barry Humphries, we miss you.
Imagine a conversation between Dame Edna and Joan Rivers
- she's drooling in comercially vialible quantities! 😂😂😂
"Unfortunately I only have restaurant German"
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face...
I could watch this genius for ever...
Please never ever censor such fantastic and utterly harmless delicious humor ,absolutely brilliant. If she doesn't make you smile you must be dead.Know one can touch her . 😂😢..
Loved him. The ‘thumbs up’ quote when he met Ruth Langston & Eamonn Holmes was part of the funniest interviews ever. RIP Barry.
I've laughed so hard watching Edna that I truly thought I was going to die laughing!
Priceless. Great compilation - thank you.
I saw here in San Francisco in the late 80’s after watching her shows on tv excellent evening
They don’t make them like Dame Edna anymore…….mores the pity …Sadly missed…. Fabulous entertainment…I really needed to laugh today ..Also no longer have Michael Parkinson anymore….Lost talent……and it is just what we need today 2023…..
Here in 2024 😹
...a total delight!
Literally dieing with laughter!!! omg I was crying! So funny!!!
I love Barry he is the funniest person to come out of Australia.....on another topic, that's why people get add blockers. If you lot (being polite here) at TH-cam put adds at the beginning and end of the offering we wouldn't be so inclined to get an add blocker app. It makes one so angry to have what he or she is watching cut right in the middle to watch a crappy add about a crappy product.
Edna Dame an eternal legend 💓
Brilliant!
Mrs. Merton - Debbie Magee
Clive Anderson - The Bee Gees
Miriam Margoyles - Graham Norton😀
😂 thanks for this! I use “what a stupid noise” all the time!
RIP Sir Michael Parterson.
Parkinson, sorry.
Thank you for the laughs Barry! Rip
30 min flew by .. could watch clips of Edna chatting all night.. what a star she got away with murder. How quick was her wit .... You best take notes Judi .. Class.
The one that just didn’t get her was little Dicky.😂😂
Bloody genius!
Totally funny - start to end !!!
Miss him / her / him
The first time I saw Humphries in a theatre the audience was HEAVING. I remember after the show people almost falling out of the theatre on to the street, still laughing and exhausted from having laughed so much. It was seismic.
How he kept a straight face for most of the things he said, is a bigger mystery than God
Genius
Helen Mirren and Tom Jones were very revealing of themselves when in the company of Dame Edna.
Hilarious clips!
Yes....and Edna is watching them reveal themselves with glee ...
@@lv7118 , nothing would get past Barry Humphries . Rest in peace .
What do you mean?
Dame Edna always outshone all the other guests no matter how famous they were
Barry Humphries the greatest satirist of all time
“He said i was still keep capable of breast feeding” 😂 the best!!
Wonderful ,funny person… i hope ppl like Batty i will see in heaven❤
Genius and hilarious.
HUGE FUN and ENOY THE ACCENT AND EXCHANGE OF LINGO AND MEN DRESSING AS WOMEN!
And you missed the joke completely.
I remember her from the film Ms Doubtfire!
