    Would love to see Hasbro Pulse take their cue and makes a screen accurate trap to go with the Spengler wand and Proton Pack.

      It's a no brainer considering how much backing the proton pack got and how well it sells next year. I expect an announcement by this Christmas

    As a huge Ghost-Head I’m completely blown away by this! The level of detail is absolutely amazing and the functionality is so fantastic that I don’t even know what to say! I’ve seen many different ghost traps built by fans who are serious cosplayers but I’ve never seen a trap look exactly like the props used in the films that has all of the working bells and whistles! You have gone above and beyond what any Ghostbusters fan would ever want out of a working ghost trap! I might even bite the bullet and buy a high end 3D printer just so I can download the files needed in order to build my very own ghost trap! The 6 year old in me who saw Ghostbusters in theaters is crying out for me to make one of these for my collection! Thank you so much for sharing this video and I look forward to seeing the in-depth explanatory video on the mechanics of these ghost traps! Again, excellent job!👏🏻

    Unbelievable job. I cant even imagine the effort and skill needed to start with nothing, but a 3-D printer and the internet, and end up with a virtually movie perfect, working "ghost trap".

    With the wheels on the Trap and the cable connecting it to the foot pedal this kind of reminded me my first RC Car which was tethered - Argh.
    Going forward with that thought I came up with the idea of repurposing a 1/16 Scale RC Tank Model into a modernized and remote controllable Trap.
    The tracked chassis allows you to have it go over somewhat rough terrain and the turret, combined with a pitch function, could act as a sentry turret pointed into the general direction of the target =)

    For the Electronics components, they are relay easy to find, i.e. the resistor is a standard type witch is widely used. Maybe ask an Electronic engineer they know where u can find such stuff.

    • @TecKonstantin
      @TecKonstantin 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TecKonstantint I forgot to add the Links: These Power Resistors are quite common used in electronics, they are also used in Aerospace and all different kind of Equipment, i used them my self in some designs. I have some Links for you where u can find such Resistors, maybe you have to us a different kind but as far i can see the RCD 600 series Seems to fit quit good but u can look it up in the technical drawings. They are not cheap but that is normal for those aluminium resistors.

      Probably you can buy them from other distributors.

    just a minor tweak suggestion for your portable spectral containment trap...just before the trap closes, the smoke generated needs to be "inhaled" slightly via a small vacuum ... probably more for esthetics than anything since the effect would in most cases be too subtle to notice unless actually present while in use but it would be nice...

  • @phant0
    @phant0 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I can't help but to think that it would have been a lot easier and more reliable to make the foot pedal control the trap by having a simple bladder-type air pump under the pedal sending compressed air through the hose to a piston operated switch in the trap. The air hose would have been actually used for what it was built for.

    • @mtxrules
      @mtxrules 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      still would have had to have way to turn on the electronics in the trap. that's why he decided to run the wire through the hose.

    • @nemo128
      @nemo128 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. seems like it would be a lot simpler than running wire through the hose.
      +mtxrules there are switches that are actually designed to be activated by small changes in air pressure. They are often used to ensure a high degree of insulation/separation between an electrical device and the person operating it....Something you might want in an actual ghost trap.

    Looks great! quite fantastic!
    ...but I really expected a blast of air when the trap opened? More Kinetics? I deeply expected a couple of cheezy paper streamers of the appropriate colours to come shooting up. :-) Then reverse the fans to suck the streamers back in just before the trap closes for ultimate style. That would really show off the smoke system too, by making the whole surrounding air part of the effect. If you have internal space issues, (it's clearly cramped in there.) maybe try an Electro-ducted fan. (EDF. Tiny jet engine RC system that you can drive with an ESC from the Arduino. They move amazing amounts of air for their size on a couple of volts, if you have the amps to drive them. :-)
    Beautiful work!

    Just a thought, use a pneumatic micro switch. The bellows under the foot pedal could displace air through the hose to activate the micro switch, which would be in the trap unit. That would be easier than converting the air fittings.

    • @rich1051414
      @rich1051414 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Scott M (Scotty2307) Not reliable, but it is just a show piece. By pnematic micro switch, i assume you mean a piston allowed to hit a microswitch? HOWEVER, if they did go that route, they could of taken advantage of the negative pressure to suck back up the smoke.

    • @scotty2307
      @scotty2307 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Richard Smith Hello Richard. Thanks for the reply, but that is not quite what I am talking about. These air operated switches, micro, or larger, have been used in many industries, for decades, and are proven reliable. They come in many styles, and some can be wired normally open, or normally closed, depending on the users requirements. Here is one of many I found at Granger Supply; search 1AGP7 on Google, and the Granger link will be the first one. There are less expensive ones at sites like Aliexpress.

    Since the Foster connectors are meant to carry air, couldn't you have made the whole thing pneumatically activated?
    I'm thinking, put a bellows in the pedal, put some kind of diaphragm in the trap. The diaphragm would activate a small momentary switch like a PC reset button, that would activate the electronics in the trap.
    Also, does the ghost cartridge come out?

    Just wondering, was Air Pressure (switch/sensor in trap) not an option for some reason? no wires or wireless system required to communicate between foot switch unit and trap unit.

    • @Sebbl3
      @Sebbl3 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Steven Allen I'd think using air pressure is much more difficult than using two wires and a switch.

    • @stevenallen512
      @stevenallen512 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. Using air pressure you just put the switch in the trap instead of the foot pedal. It's a different switch triggered by air of course.

    • @stevenallen512
      @stevenallen512 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every jacuzzi tub has such a switch so you don't get electrocuted. The button uses air pressure to throw the switch remotely

    • @aritakalo8011
      @aritakalo8011 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Steven Allen I'm not sure, but they might be doing or planning for more than just a simple switch. For that 2 wire data link like I2C allows for more flexibility.

    • @nemo128
      @nemo128 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ari Takalo Looking at the in-depth video it's just a simple switch.
      +Sebbl3 The hose itself is already air-tight; the only place where you need to worry about it leaking out is the peddle side.
      Air-pressure switches are often used to ensure a high degree of insulation/separation between an electrical device and the person operating it....Something you might want in an actual ghost trap.
