▶Lyrics:
You remind me of the babe
What babe? babe with the power
What power? power of voodoo
Who do? you do
Do what? remind me of the babe
I saw my baby, crying hard as babe could cry
What could I do
My baby's love had gone
And left my baby blue
Nobody knew
What kind of magic spell to use
Slime and snails
Or puppy dogs' tails
Thunder or lightning
Then baby said
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
Put that baby spell on me
Jump magic, jump (jump magic, jump)
Jump magic, jump (jump magic, jump)
Put that magic jump on me
Slap that baby, make him free
I saw my baby, trying hard as babe could try
What could I do
My baby's fun had gone
And left my baby blue
Nobody knew
What kind of magic spell to use
Slime and snails
Or puppy dog's tails
Thunder or lightning
Then baby said
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
Put that baby spell on me
Jump magic, jump (jump magic, jump)
Jump magic, jump (jump magic, jump)
Put that magic jump on me
Slap that baby, make him free
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
Jump magic, jump (jump magic, jump)
Jump magic, jump (jump magic, jump)
Put that baby spell on me (ooh)
You remind me of the babe
What babe? the babe with the power
What power? power of voodoo
Who do? you do
Do what? remind me of the babe
Dance magic, dance, ooh ooh ooh
Dance magic, dance magic, ooh ooh ooh
Dance magic
What kind of magic spell to use
Slime and snails
Or puppy dog tails
Thunder or lightning
Something frightening
Dance magic, dance
Dance magic, dance
Put that baby spell on me
Jump magic, jump
Jump magic, jump
Put that magic jump on me
Slap that baby make him free
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)
Dance magic, dance (dance magic, dance)

When I was little, I watched this like daily. And my brother and I would sing back and forth "You remind me of the babe!" "What babe?" "Babe with the power!" And so on, I loved it.

That’s kind of sweet lol
I watched this alot too, when I was younger
I like to imagine that this is a normal occurrence at the castle. They're all portrayed as the bad guys but really they just like to hang out and have regular music nights.
Honestly, who is the real 'bad guy' of the story, the person who selfishly wishes away a child then tries to get them back, or the one who takes the child from the selfish person then tries to keep them from taking the child back?
true
@@jeremylemings Well, it's mostly teaching her a lesson not to take things for granted (as said several times in the beginning of the adventure). Plus, how was she supposed to know that actual living goblins would come in and abduct her baby brother? XD

Nothing makes me sadder than seeing people who are now dead having fun in their younger years. He looks like he’s having a blast. I’m sure he has no regrets but it still gets me in my feelings.
That's why you gotta have all the fun while you're alive. So you can go knowing you had enjoyed your moment. If you're not having fun right now, get on it my friend!
I never thought of it that way-
David Bowie as the Goblin King is like Robin Williams as the Genie in Aladdin. NO ONE can improve their performance. I am personally glad that Labyrinth has, thus far, been spared a remake because NO ONE can recapture David Bowie's performance as Jareth. This is one of my favorite movies.
He was out of his head on coke at the time. There's even a reference to it in this song. Watch his finger and nose from 2:24 - 2:29. The editors even threw in a sniff/snort sound effect, lol.

in a way the Goblin King (Jareth) was never really evil, he just wanted to do something for Sarah and he never wanted to hurt the baby, he just wanted another Goblin in his ranks

This one: *Dance magic dance*
For this scene, the film crew just followed David Bowie on a typical day in his life. He didn't even know he was on camera.

I think that when the kid grew up, he was either terrified of Jim Hensen puppet-things, or obsessed with them.
He made his own movie using puppets.

Two of my favourite lines from Labyrinth: 1. “smells bad” in the bog of eternal stench lol and 2. “Well then… come on which way do you want to go… up or down” helping hands scene lol. Loved this movie… as did my children nearly a decade + later 💕
This movie is absolutely a little price of my soul. Anytime I am having a hard time in life I almost always refer to it.The dark times in life are when you are in the oubliet and so on...and sometimes you must just say to whatever or whomever it is " you have no power over me".
Still have a massive crush on David Bowie specifically as the Goblin King 😂😂
Yesss
Hell to the yea
Yaaaas. He looks scrumptious in this movie. Back in highschool I had a teacher that loved David Bowie so we watched this movie in class. Whenever Jareth was on screen she either sighed and gave him googily eyes or say how hot he was. It was hilarious lol

David Bowie as Jarroth is one of the greatest casting hits in movie history ... give the casting director a raise and a beer
Or a drink
It was gonna be Michael Jackson but he said the role was too weird for him
@@AustinAOkay sheesh... thanks god that´s never happened
Hmmm Jackson kidnapping a kid is a little too on the nose
Henson's daughter was the one who insisted on Bowie
Has anyone ever realised that Jareth wanted to send Sarah to the beginning because he knows she won't give up and she will keep coming back so he gets to see her even more? and because he sends her back, he resets time again so she will stay longer! and this then fits in with the ending where he talks about how generous he has been and he wants her to love him!!!
I actually never realized that
thank you
When Sarah was telling the child the story at the beginning, she said the goblin king was in love with the girl. So it makes sense
It also fits in with the idea that Jareth is a massive paedophile
Really? she didn't know that the game and time restarted if she went back to the beginning
David Bowie is regarded as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Bowie was acclaimed by critics and musicians, particularly for his innovative work
20 years old listening to this reminds me of when things were so simple. Gives me goosebumps. Thanks mom. ⚘
Bowie was amazingly patient with the kid, actually. During scenes when the baby was supposed to be quiet, he used a puppet that was off screen when the kid was on his lap, which always calmed him down Even named the damn thing, forgot what he called it. Kid was otherwise very (understandably) fussy on set. But Bowie was the exact opposite of what you'd think a celebrity would be around a kid. Generally was very easy to work with.
Whatever issues Bowie had? He was essentially a great guy. Henson loved him.
That reminds me of how Richard O'Brien (creator of 'Rocky Horror Picture Show') was on the set of 'Dark City'. A pair of young twins played a creepy child antagonist in the film and got excited to see Richard as one of their fellow villains in the movie because they like RHPS, so he would sing songs from the movie for them between scenes to keep them amused!
Kind of makes sense given he was a father, maybe learned the patience thru that 🤣🖤
@@izarian42 "Let's do the Time Warp again" really fitted the theme of Dark City though!
@TroySpace Good point, it really does! Reminds me of when O'Brien was in that kind of corny D&D movie (not the recent one, the one from years ago) and he basically just played as himself when he hosted 'The Crystal Maze'.
@@izarian42 oh wait, he was Xilus? Thought for a moment he was the warrior with blue lipstick (too buff). Yeah, that makes sense LOL!

I sing variations of the chorus for my 8 month boy and loves it. He stops crying as I jump him around in the air. I just put thr song on for him and he can't stop baby dancing, on all fours thrusting forward and back 😄

Regina: oh shut up.
I know how that would be handled in the animal kingdom.
"Show me two things that have the same vibes but you cant explain why"🤷♀️
@@CharliiRose09 Yet it is easily explained? They're both tyrants who surround themselves in yes-men of lower intellect than themselves. When Jareth makes a joke and laughs, he expects everyone around him to laugh too, when Regina fishes for compliments, she expects all of the people around her to immediately serve her them. The trouble is, while their lackeys are willing, their perception is lacking - either because the tyrant is so mercurial it's difficult to know what the tyrant wants from them at any given time, or because they're goblins and therefore stupid - so the expected response ends up needing to be prompted more directly.

As soon as I watched this, I felt something alive in me. I felt like a kid again. Nothing to worry about, no bills, no adult responsibilities..... even though it was a couple of minutes that I felt like this, it was really nice and yes, you damn right I sang to this, lol!
I remember the first time I watched this movie in the 90’s on the Disney channel (or was it Nickelodeon?) sitting on the floor at the foot of my parents bed, the TV set up high on the armoire, with my little blue table tray I would use to eat snacks like fruit rollups, Caprisuns, and gushers... I recall getting a relatively unnerving vibe from seeing Bowie/The Goblin King for the first time... Largely because My 5 - 6 year old self wasn’t accustomed to seeing an androgynous male on screen... But the oddities of the movie and the mystical 80’s aesthetic really stuck with me throughout the years. Just watched it again recently, and although the acting and writing was a bit sub par from what I remember, the overall vibe is still there and it took me back to those days of being care-free, just sitting in my parents bedroom, absorbing all of the nicktoons and Disney specials I could before bedtime, everything was so fresh and new for me back then. If they make a remake of this, I'll watch it but it will never be as good as the original David Bowie.
Also I'm surprised at how many people have responding to this, thanks! :)
Then I wish tim Burton would direct it! :) but the original was amazing !
How about remake in a modern version like Coraline was to Wizard of Oz. That would be really scary if it’s like claymation.
How about Hugh Jackman? He's good looking.
He can act.
He can sing.
He can dance.
It was the same for footloose
I wouldn't
I'll be pissed
