- The Original 1984 Footloose dance, followed up by the adaptation of it to 2011 styles of dancing.

The 80's vibe is so more natural, fun, and organic. Never realised that the difference was this big
Well-stated!! This seems so manufactured by a generation that is used to Instagramming everything.
I think it is because both legal and social restrictions were quite high in 80's. So overcoming of a restriction resulted in heightened mood compared to 2022's...
Was there really this glitter overlay in the original? Seems odd now
Effortless - the original
The actors in the 2011 version were trying to put on a performance, but in 1984 they were genuinely having fun dancing together and you can see the difference in how this translates on screen and into our hearts. Nothing beats the original and I swear I wish I could UNSEE the remake.
This comment makes me glad I haven’t seen the remake
I agree the original had better dancing.
I love remakes unlike most people but I have to agree with you. The 84' version was a bunch of unknowns making a teen movie that the had no idea would go on to become iconic. Their dance scene was like a bunch of people showing off their moves at prom or at a wedding, doing the Soul Train line type thing. The new version was like a flash mob or choreographed dance at a wedding. Still fun and interesting to watch but lacking spontaneous joy
The remake was great but yeah i can understand the original usually beats the new versions.
Nah, the original have better soundtrack and that's all, the dance in the original is goofy asf 😂😂😂
The 80's get to be by far the best decade in human history
from that time to now only decadence....
Before cell and internet
Facts so happy I was born in the 80's so many memories like this movie when it came out in 1984 😊
60's is superior 😌 but 80's had the best music
I love both. Best music
80s teen here. it was the greatest era of all time hands down! movies, music, everything was the best in the 80s!
I was born in 82 🤟
Totally great decade to be a teenager. Class of '89 here
@@gracecase998 Class of 2001 here but I remember this movie. 😁

In my opinion the 80s had the best films and the best music. You'll never find rhythm like this anywhere else in time. 🎵
Virginia Clark agreed
I totally agree u can only find a good song once in awhile if that now but then they had amazing musical and movies and it just seems so awesome and there dancing was more better then then it is no
Virginia Clark so true about the 80s best movies and music
I totally agree
Well, there was also the 60's and 70's. Some incredible music from there. But I agree that after the 80's there is little to get excited about. Some good songs and some really good movies but most of it is formulaic crap.
The fact that I can literally see myself joining that 80's dancing , it's so natural and just pure fun 😭
Well said!

2011 dance bettwr
In the 80’s people danced just because they loved the music. Everybody could dance & you didn’t need lessons or special talent to join in.
Nothing beats the original footloose dance!
Omg I'm so glad I've not seen the 2011 version. Nothing will beat Kevin Bacon's version of Footloose.
😂😂😂 Totally agree
When the quarantine is over, we're all gonna cut loose, footloose.
Hell yah we will

We danced a lot in the 80's. The music was great!
Me too!!
Yes we did dance alot in the 80's 😊 man I miss the 80's so much fun
went to see this movie with my senior class in high school in 1984! the 80's rock.
Just a few of the reasons why the 84 'version wins hands down:
1) the charisma of Kevin Bacon and all the main actors;
2) they look like normal people and not models / dancers;
3) the actors showed a real mutual involvement;
4) that piece of music is pure fucking gold ...
I liked the 11 version too.
Plus the movie was shot in a small town in Utah where music and dancing were illegal at the time.
My 2 sisters was listening to the 90's version when I was young. The first version is the best. This song is coming out of nowhere. I 'am proud to be born in the 90's
Ah! Where did they get all that energy from? Mean the real people at those times!
@@Sam_me_dit What`s 90`s have to do with this?
The 80's had everything....... i mean footloose, the breakfast club and dirty dancing plus amazing music; i am so jealous of my mother right now
And greas

Keep the jealousy & pass it on! If enough feel the same we can make it happen again!!
:-D
80s wins hands down. Just looks so natural and fun, not forced ❤❤❤
1984 feels like pure spontaneous joy. 2011 feels like a dance number in a musical.
You can that say that with a lot of 80s movies. By the middle 90s movies became to polished
Exactly
Even now, nearly 40 years later, this movie still makes me want to get up an dance! a True American Classic.
Yeah, 38 years at this point. While I'm a 2 left feet kinda guy, I can at least tap 'em whenever I hear the music. BTW, is it me or is the 2011 version kinda blurry? Even at 720 setting. Weird.
Hows the hip😎

Can you say he'll yeah?!!!
how about this: born to be alive
THUMBS UP IF YOU LOVED 1984 BETTER!!!
Yes
Way, Way WAY up!!!!
+Juanita Franklin No comparison and did make my comment above. This 2011 version sucked in my estimation and as I said, leave the Classics alone and find another story line to bring it into this era and don't mess with what worked the first time. Not in favor of remaking classics.
+Melanie Philip if they really cared about the classics the redos would be even more epic^
thumbs up to that the Ren in the 2011 version is cute
So grateful I can see it again! Im 65 & enjoyed so much in cinema in 1984...! And yes : Puré Fun ✌️❤❤
Another blue print of 80’s dance moves that defied the last decade.🎉🎉
The original invites everyone to dance no matter your skill level. It’s an actual party with kids being themselves. The remake is an audition for Americas best dancer and if you don’t have the moves hit the sideline and just clap. Kenny Loggins footloose is amazing.
snore
For a bunch of kids who grew up in a town where dancing was outlawed and forbidden, they had some sick moves.
ikr like when did they learn all that? but is is so cool
I don't know if it's in the remake, but the kids already knew how to dance when it was outlawed. They would sneak to the next town to be able to go dancing, so they never really stopped
Those dancers were from LA.
@@ljohnson4881 Louisiana? Crazy. Lol.
SICK is only in your mind.
1984 .......what a time to be young and alive!!!!!!!!!
nothing beats the original. The 80's were a vibe.
People who say "were a vibe" will never have a meaningful relationship

Brilliant and the message is very simple …. The world would be a better place if people just DANCE 🕺
Some classics just cannot be remade. 1984 just wins on ALL levels.
I will vote for the 80's version. It's so natural. Everybody could dance and have fun. In the 2011 version, the specific movements and numbers of leading choreographies are attainable only by professional dancers.
Right? But that's pretty much just because the dancing in the 80s version was more a social dancing. Also, I'm sure there weren't as many studios back then to teach stuff like that, especially street dancing.
@@atmos3155 thats not the point,,,this was a highschool dance,,,at a real high school dance you ain't gonna have dozen fucking people out of no where doing the exact same dancing and doing all these flips in shit. 2011 version was pretty trash.
yeah because the remake is a shitty soulless modern hollywood movie that needed to meet racial quotas and appear in vines/youtube videos.
They weren't making a movie. They were trying to create a brand
dont you understand? they had to have acrobatic flips and break dancing because they had to represent "minority dancing". It had to be in your face the entire time or you might not have seen they were trying.
They think having dudes doing street dance moves would make this movie popular with Black audiences so they could make more money.
and before someone says "the original had flips and break dancing"
Lol no. The OG movie had wacked out white kids pretending to break dance and doing weird flips. It's meant to be goofy because theyre so turnt up.
the remake has a bunch of professional dancers doing Chris Brown moves.
Me Gusta Más la Versión De Los 80.❤
This is what you call people who have real talent with the legs. Yehhh!
I like the 80s version never gonna get tired of watching the older version of footloose
I was a theatre owner and attended a private screening of Footloose 1984 before released to the public and the ending was a slow dance, everyone hated the slow dance ending so Paramount reshot the ending as the fast dance version we know and love today
que bom que eles mudaram ❤
Nothing will ever beat the 80’s version, that was the best time for music, movies, and to be a teenager. And yep, my kids know every song from the 80’s. No remakes in my house.

Its sucks to live in your house
80's version will ALWAYS top
yes because it gives nostalgia otherwise it is very obvious that new version is more fast and much better.. also this new lead dancer is more talented dancer than kevin bacon
M Muneeb most fast and more edited, its not talent of dancers
M Muneeb
You are missing the point, I lived this pal, you are not listening to the lyrics, "everybody could footloose", and that's why this movie was so big, because it was true, we all could do it just like in the movie. What you see in the remake, you gotta be a professional dancer to do that shit, regular people like you couldn't make those moves even in your sleep.
M Muneeb Kevin Bacon was a very natural dancer, very fluent and real along with all the other dancers in the 80's version, none of it look rehearsed unlike in the movie. Although I did like some of the things they did in the new version it could never be what the 80's version is. Don't even get me started on Blake Shelton's version of Footloose because ugh, that was just not right. Although I do enjoy some of Blake's music it's hard to top Kenny Loggins.

The timing in each of the 'final' dances is brilliant in both versions but I cant get away for the 1984 version. It was so ahaad of its time which is evidenced by the fact that it was 'imitated' in 2011. Copying or imitating is the highest form of praise or flattery. This song & dance will never age for me.
Such a great movie to fall in with growing up. Rock on
I wish I was around in the 80s. They knew how to have real fun without being on phones and computers all day. Everything was so minimal but still amazing. I'd choose the 80s over now a day things 100%
I take it from one who was alive in the 80s...it was fun! I remember great music and a lot of innocent fun.
Who wishes that Kevin, John Travolta, Patrick Swayze all had a dance off in the 80s
Omg that would be like the best thing ever!!😎😎

I still get pumped when Chris Penn comes in and goes ham. It's so obvious he had been waiting the entire movie for that scene! 😅
the 1984 Version is better in my opinion, they seem more having fun instead of just literally doing flips for others enjoyment.
