That was time well spent. Gives the trim a nice finished look and it keeps water and dirt out from behind the trim. The last thing you need is rot or rust behind the trim piece. Looking forward to when you and Ravengirl can get together and do a magnet fishing video. I do enjoy those. Until then you and your family stay safe.

Thanks for that John. Spot on mate. Glad I've done it now. Yes, we haven't seen Ravengirl for weeks now, well, tell a lie we did speak to her on video link. Thanks for your support of our channels, it's very much appreciated. 👍

That's terrible. Water can cause so much damage. It actually worries me quite a lot, especially living in our Motorhome. I hope you get things sorted without too much expense. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Mick.

@@ManyFunAdventures Thank you for your reply, I did with the same sealant as used about 10 days ago. It is showing signs off drying now. Cheers Mick

Do you apply Sikaflex 522 right on the old one or you replaced before?
    Thanks

I did remove a bit of the old sealant before I started. Of course I wasn't going to start taking off the fairing for what is a really simple job.

Yep! That's another one done. lol. This is the (only) good side to being on lock down, I get to do all those things that I probably wouldn't of otherwise done cause I'd be too busy exploring! So that's one positive. 😉👍

I was in exactly the same position as you Brian and doing the same things, watching vids on TH-cam preparing myself as much as possible before finally taking the plunge. If you want it that bad, you WILL do it!
Wish you all the best with this. 😉👍

Mine is fitted with some type of clip in beading wasn’t yours buddy ? I’ve not seen it before but all the videos on TH-cam show this the silka sealant so I’m confused with mine and don’t want it leaking to the plywood under I’ve seen bits of damp the reason I’m looking into sealing
So when you buy a motorhome brand new does this beading I’ve got come on it
Others maybe rip it out and seal and skirts and trim with silka
    Any help much appreciated
    Great video

I will be perfectly honest with you, I'm not really that clued up with other Motorhomes or indeed how our own is put together. All I know is that there is a gap which I don't like to see, and with others reporting on Elddis Motorhomes allowing water to get into the floor because of it, I knew the way to go would be to Sikaflex it. Bit of a tip though. If you do the same as me, don't put as much on as what I did here. I ended up scraping a load off later as it showed up the dirt pretty bad. Looked great when you first do it! 😂
By the way, we didn't buy our Motorhome brand new. Bought it in late 2019 and it's a 2016 model. 😉

    • @ManyFunAdventures

On this occasion it was a warm dry day, but I have since used the same product in dry but cooler days and it's been perfectly fine. Obviously never use it on the exterior in the wet. We have a new video coming up where I show that I have used it again on the outside within the last couple of weeks in this winter period. All good.

Not sure what exact product was used here, but I know some sikaflex needs atmospheric moisture to cure

A question on storage if I may. As with many coach built motorhomes and even more so with PVC’s there is a limited amount of outside storage, unlike A class with garages. How do you cope storing larger items such as chairs, outside tables, bbq’s etc., any tips and suggestions for me pease?

Nice job, did you have to remove and silicone or other old sealant? Did you clean the area prior to applying the sikaflex?

    • @ManyFunAdventures
      @ManyFunAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey thanks. There was no sealant there to begin with! I think what there is there is not within reach. Yes, off camera I cleaned down along where I placed the new sealant. It has not budged at all since I made this video, and aside from getting dirty (which Jan cleaned off the other day) it's done the job! Although I haven't done the back of the van yet cause I ran out! lol.
