Did hear the songs of freedom. Where the Dunmer elite traffic argonian children... Vivec, opera, Almalexia, Sotha Sil. Monsters keep us dependent on the Tribunal, send our hatchlings to shit wars. Then do horrific things to hatchlings and the Ministry of Truth doesn't cover it. They get away with it... as we sit here, eating beetle puffs and fungus omelet, wasting time in a hermeus morra realm. You may say, "well why don't you go save the world leave me alone in my endless archive with my losers adult friends who also waste away" I am doing something, I moved to gold coast, joined dark brotherhood, im an alchemist and im using the skills to make defence potions. I improved my body with better diet, REAL diet, not the dunmer or khajiit crap. My body looks like a Hist statue, I am becoming a lizzard worth Reckoning... vs a fat mer child who limited on resources, cant do 10 push-ups, no weapons, cant make potions, cant fix shit. Useless ... first ones to surrender to dunmers. Who would you marry? Who would you pick to nest your eggs and provide safety? Think of the future, who will you be?
My wife and I started playing ESO together around the end of High Isle release, your channel was critical in keeping us noobs in the game. The learning cliff was brutal, especially for my wife coming from Skyrim and no MMO experience. We've really been enjoying the stories and attempting to 100% each zone before moving on to the next. We've completed the Pacts zones, now we're more than half way through the Covenants, the Dominion feels like it's months away before we finally start taking on the core gameplay zones. We both want to thank you for all that you do in covering ESO! We actually were a little concerned after HTM and Skinnycheeks covered the U41 patch notes and didn't see anything from you. Sorry to see that you've been subjected to idiots and haters. You have two loyal fans who are cheering for you though! 💖

Hilarious way of framing this - I laughed so hard and I’m with you! Some people lash out because of their own problems with game addiction. Not everyone is playing unhealthily though! Many ESO players do have jobs and families that they maintain just fine while enjoying the game. I mean, that’s why we have prime time for raiding. It’s when we’ve gotten off work yo! (or finished whatever else keeps us occupied during the normal day like caretaking etc.) And, get this…a lot of us have hobbies outside of ESO too. I work as a dev in fintech for example and have time to also do personal projects just fine WHILE PLAYING ESO. It’s a fun game despite its problems. Just let people enjoy it.
Agree with you 100% on this I generally disagree with the whole "video games are ruining lives" narrative. I'm aware that some people can, unfortunately, build unhealthy relationships or addictions to gaming, but I also think it's entirely reasonable and attainable to be able to spend a lot of time in ESO and have a great time while still tending to your own personal affairs, be it a job, relationships, or other hobbies!

I love ESO and the Elders Scroll franchise. I played for years strictly PvE, but over the past year, joined a few cool ass guilds, have been running trials, dungeons, and even Cyrodiil. It's opened up a game I know well in a completely different way. Chilling with some good peeps online has been nice too. I still maintain a full-time job, life, relationships, etc. I think for those with gaming addiction, they are zealous converts to the red pill bs. Hopefully they find balance in their lives. Meanwhile, I'll be working on my build and whoring myself for transmutes! Thanks for all your great content!
I like ESO and I like your channel. I’m also married, have a kid, a great career, fix all my own shit, and have other hobbies. I just like to run with my guildies for a bit after putting my son to bed 🤷♂️ Buddie’s only play is pretending he’s Zeus in TH-cam comments 😂
i recieved a vision from god and was sent into the past. I quit the game 120 years ago, but he told me to return, and save the rest of you. you must stop what you're doing immedeatly and run away from your computer. uninstall ESO (wizard game online) it will destroy your bodies and minds you are becoming slaves. when I quit the game all those years ago, i immedeatly became ripped and grew to 8ft tall. this is what ZOS (Zevil Ocompany Sidk) does not want you to know about. you must not refresh eso+ the next time.
I just wish there was at least 1 person that'll talk in game. I've never seen such an anti-social playerbase before, I've had maybe 3 people talk to me in game in the last 2 months of just going up to talk to everybody. But they'll be quick to cry & moan in youtube/twitter comments, like... huh?
I rarely leave comments but this video is worth it. Laughs and smiles the whole way through. Taking something negative and turning it positive is a rare ability, good on ya.
I usually play for several months and stop. its def my go to mmo. It has become harder and harder for new players to play which is my biggest issue. Its a fun game for the most part. I do think as long as its been a game they could've added one handed magic weapons... but I digress your a great content creator and have helped me specifically with selling. ( I still dream of the day you get a rematch with Deltia .)
Honestly I think skill rotations need to be added in the tutorial section because I notice a lot of newbies just swinging their weapons around and using abilities occasionally. My first couple of months were rough 😭
A friend and I finally decided to properly get into ESO recently and it honestly seems like the game is on the up and up, although I only have 180 hours played atm

It's been a while that I've seen quite a few downright toxic comments about ESO apparently being a shit game, or, quite often, a "dEaD gAMe", and, to be frank, there are also some TH-camrs who feel compelled to make extended version of these comments in video form. Imagine the comment sections on those videos, the black pill there is real. There are also those content creators who hype up the tiniest slivers of speculation on what the next big feature might be then tout their view as Gospel truth. Of course that people will be disappointed in the end. Remember last year? The hype machine of the "spell crafting" feature exploded badly when it was revealed that the big feature of the year was a new class. But then it's also the community that seems to not really know what they want. Again, with the Necrom example, I remember reading comments about people "not wanting a new class" when at the same time there really were comments about how it's been ages since we've had a new class. Whenever ZOS does something, someone is sulking. It really gives you the impression that the ESOTube is filled to the brim with doomers and depressed people an inch away from the hanging rope when in reality I do not remember witnessing such gloomy player atmosphere in game. Anyway, thank you for making these wonderful videos and keep up the good fight Arty !
Former player here and going on 2 years now as a mogul! Threw my hands in the air after update 35 and haven't played any games seriously since. Recently found my latest obsession, our lord and savior BG3. I check in on your videos every now and then to see how things are doing and to get a good laugh from the well made videos. Please don't ever stop. ✌️

theres "fans" like that in every fandom i think. And not just video games either. It's a little sad seeing so much negativity in the world. But I think it has to do with the object in question losing that initial shine, so they lose interest over time and confuse their changing interests to that particular thing "becoming bad"
I only rarely comment on videos, though I often want to. For me, I've only somewhat recently left ESO, and I still haven't PROPERLY left (I've unsubscribed, but it's still installed on my PC). It's like a toxic relationship - the game keeps abusing my trust and asking for more money, makes me unhappy, tries to pull me back in with FOMO, etc. The community I once loved is a shadow of what it once was. The urge to vent is part of my effort to distance myself from the game, and convince myself not to relapse into what I know is an unhappy relationship. It's a process.
This sentiment of "I hate the game and people need to know about it" is pretty common. These people STILL play the game, even if they say they don't. One such example would be Diablo 4, there's a full on meme/phenomenon of "D4 bad" yet people still play and buy stuff. It's fairly puzzling, but mostly it's the sunken time fallacy and FOMO.
I agree I don’t understand why these people who hate ESO so much can’t just leave it. Like they love to hate it and are avid anti- fans. There are some people who I follow on twitch and twitter who used to do awesome constructive critic on ESO but as of lately seem to have become anti fans. Like yes ESO is far from perfect but a lot of people still enjoy to play it. Something that these people can’t fathom or accept. It’s annoying.
These people left the game, but having put time and effort into it they desperately need it to die so that they can validate their exit and say they told so. And the longer it takes, the more they question their decision of leaving, their inability to just not care about the game and their initial time and effort put into it.
Probably because the majority of the playerbase is full of toxic casuals who dont understand a lot of the problems with the game and endlessly spout cringeworthy positivity about every mediocre aspect of the game.
The 2 games I've bounced back and forth between for the past Idk how many years are ESO and The Division (1&2). You could quite literally swap these (non-gameplay specfic) comments between both games and wouldn't know the difference. I mean, why bother even typing "dead game" if you don't care? So funny to me.

Just my two cents but the reason I think ESO players vent to the ESO community is because you actually listen and respond, even if it is to make fun of them or to counter their arguments. The bigger problem is, in my opinion, the fact that ZOS clearly doesn't give two shits about the community or their opinions on anything as long as there is a steady stream of new players to milk to counter the old that get tired of the same old shit and leave. I've left and come back many times to ESO but I never play more than a month or so cause the content has basically been the same for the last few years. Not bad, not good, but definitely the 3.6 Roentgen of MMO's. Its a big beautiful sandbox that's just full of meh. Only reason pvp hasn't seen any love is because pvp players dont buy expansion packs, eso plus or new content like pve players do unless there is some new op mythic or whatever. Couple that with what feels like every fun playstyle, particularly tanking wise (see tormentor rework that destroys a unique and fun, but in no way meta, tanking playstyle) and it just feels like everything is being homogenised into this puddle of meh. But hey, the crown store gets updated regularly!

While I also jumped on the "fuck this game" train, it's clear that it's because I just really *really* want it to get better. With my circle of friends, we know that Elder Scrolls is our favorite videogame fantasy franchise. We also know that ESO will be our only source of Elder Scrolls content for a long time. But we're all kinda just sick of the same formula and plot formula and *especially* the plots for expansions where there's always a traitor. (High Isle plot is hot garbage) It sucks trying out another MMO like FF14 and then comparing the two since they both are MMOs that are also console compatible. I never dared try to raid/do trials in ESO whereas FF14 had an easily accessible dungeon/raid group finder. I went back to pug trials because I had more confidence to run higher end content but had to painfully recruit through Craglorn zone chat. (So much for accessibility) TL;DR I think most of the people who passionately hate ESO just wants it to be better and there is a lot of room to improve. I'd love to come back. I'd love to have the same obsession people still have with it.

Echo-chambers are tribal and these ignorant individuals cannot tolerate the thought that someone else is able to enjoy something that they cannot. So, they strike out. I do not dislike these people. I don't think the title should be "Why Are Elder Scrolls Online Players Like This", it should be "Why Are People Like This". This is not exclusive to anything. It's not even exclusive to the internet. I do have a really long answer to this that goes into politics and the way society is structured, but the short version is that people are unhappy/dissatisfied and sometimes you will be the recipient of how that manifests.
I played forever. I left just after the last chapter. It was pay to play, everything cost. In game cash and out of game cash. The chapters felt all the same just cosmeticlly buffet. I enjoyed it for long time. However there was a lot of hostility. The bots are ridiculous. I just stopped trying to deal with it all.
ESO is the type of game you want to see succeed, but every update makes you more angry so I can see why people are upset. But the execution or how they go about it is why we're left with the weird takes or insane posts. Overall I just think the devs need to take a seat down and really ... play their game. I feel like they don't play it is why their calls feel so off.
ESO to me is like an ex-wife. Every so often we still hook up to do some dungeon diving (if you know what I mean) but I always find myself going into my wallet for some reason and then we end up in a real life PVP match
I think the people who keep commenting hate on ESO is because they wanted to love the game, they wanted the devs to listen they wanted to be heard and have a game that works and improves as it ages… damn I might be one of those people… but oh well. Some normal comments are what you told in your video: Poeple are having bad day, want to blow up some steam, or just are done with the game and have too many emotions in them and they want to "warn" others. But I also don't understand people who are talking like that nonstop
its kinda funny how eso players are the complete opposite of bethesda fanboys that can never allow any critique of bethesda in any way shape or form...what i also find interesting is that the tone of the official eso forum is always very negative but the eso reddit is always very uplifting and positive (which is not really what reddit is usually known for)
I don't know, I've seen plenty of threads on the official ESO forums with legitimate concerns that get met with nothing but replies like "bait," "gotta be bait," "horker is baitin hard," "another troll." They don't even have a counter argument, they just dismiss OP outright and ignore the issues.
I just started playing eso today. and when looking up content people seem so negative about it. but as someone just starting and enjoying. it kinda sucks seeing how negative the community seems to be at least online. I haven’t met any player yet ^_^
ESO is an old game that most people have played and moved on from or heard about. You can take it as a dead MMO, or you can appreciate it for what it is; a game that came out a decade ago with a niche community of people that still enjoy and support it.
I'm willing to bet at least half of them are people who tried to follow cookie cutter builds and are upset because they can't solo a world boss because they don't have the skill to go with the build. That said, the comment about the devs, I do partially agree with in regards to Rich specifically. After he insulted PvP players live on his stream when asked about it being fixed, I don't think I'll ever see him as a "good guy". His response to the backlash to respec scrolls in crown store being pushed onto newer players only made it worse. Buuuuut I still love the game and I'm not going to whine about it or tell other people what they should or shouldn't play.
Entertaining video. To be honest, I loved ESO. I gladly paid for the annual ESO+ subscription and purchased every chapter's digital collectors edition. I was also always annoyed with the Crown store and especially drop rates with crates but not a deal breaker. Anyway, left the game after a couple years as it was just taking up too much time in my life and I was struggling to get into Trial groups and Vet HM content basically because I was mediocre at putting up numbers. Then the High Isle chapter was announced and I watched the reveal stream, as I watch most ESO streams still, even though I was not playing anymore. The mention of Oakensoul peaked my interest and so I jumped back in the ESO world. Busted my tail and got the ring and finally, I was able to put up respectable numbers with my magic templar. Joined a good guild and created a dedicated group and started doing all the dungeon challenges. Was making good progress and then, like 2 or 3 months later, I think it was Update 35, the nerf hammer dropped and Oakensoul was dead, at least for the way I was using it, along with the same nerf hammer to the Templar class. I felt like I was bait and switched. They dangled the carrot that fixed all my problems and just as I was making progress, they yanked it all away. So that was the final straw for me, as far as playing the game and spending $160+ a year on this game. I do still enjoy watching it though and I like the game itself, they just mess with it too much for my liking.
Heading to 40k+ hours. Yes it has it's problems but it's far from dead. Don't like it? Fuck off and play something else. No one is keeping you here. Great vid as per usual mate.

I also have never been able to wrap my head around the fact that some people just seem to only find fulfillment in life by showcasing how miserable and empty they are on the inside by investing so much time and effort into flaming and trolling people just because they are finding joy and fun in something and sharing it with others. Here are example of negative, game killing behavior. I remind everyone that this is a sub game, IMO, or not worth playing. 1) You are opening a chest, and a juvenile comes along, spraying you with magic trying to steal a chest you fought enemies to get. 2) You are killing a path through a delve or dungeon, and asinine players just run through and don't help and just behave predatory. 3) The dungeon tanks don't gather up mobs, are evidently fake tanks since they can not hold aggro, and yet picked a PUG instead of a guild group. 4) Nirncrux is idiotic and obtuse to get. Yes, I know the work-around involved with CWC to circumvent it, I am master crafter. 5) Crafting research is asinine long. 6) Housing is VERY fair, a positive. I will compare this to FFXIV, where entire Wards are owned by barons. Bravo. 7) PVP is completely neglected. 8) The number of people required for a guild trader should be 5 or less. The concept of inflating the market and guild corporations is unacceptable. The poison of the real world is why some of us come to gaming to escape. I have never seen bad behavior corrected in ESO. In FFXIV IF you are an a-hole in dungeon, text chat you will be ganked by Square Enix. The reason I came here was due to friends leaving for life, housing, and love of Elder Scrolls and Skyrim. Eastmarch, Western Skyrim, and Wrothgar are cool. Trying to be positive.

I haven't played ESO for years due to a variety of reasons, but how do people even come onto an ESO video and rant about governmental conspiracy theories while claiming to have the body of a greek god? Like... Was that an actual comment? BECAUSE HOLY SHITBALLS.
I never got into ESO specifically, but I loved the solo Elder Scroll games (which is why the algorithm is showing me this, I assume 😊), and I play a few other MMOs. This was hilarious, and tbh I have no idea why people keep engaging with content focused on stuff they hate. 😅 I have a theory that those people don't actually play and enjoy anything, they just live vicariously through TH-cam/Twitch, so they have plenty of time to spew nonsense.
I think people genuinely feed off of negativity, we all know it sells, but on TH-cam specifically in the gaming industry. People loved to tune in to see all of the streamers shit on Diablo 4. Diablo 4 negative headlines were so much more monetized for content creators than people who actually enjoyed the game. We saw the same thing with Sawman UK who would exclusively make videos bashing Rich Lambert completely monetizing negativity on ESO. Thank God he finally quit, cuz all he did was complain. I've been playing this game long enough to see the cycle rinse and repeat. A new patch comes out, people shit on the game they say it's dead or they say the devs are stupid, and then they continue playing. It's weird
I never understood the hate for this game. No gatekeeping, no stupid gear progression system, no p2w and a very friendly community(I'm in 2 guilds, an officer in 1 of them and just yesterday we all put gold on the table to help fresh cp160 players buy gear in order to start doing vet content). I'm playing since 2017, so you can say I've seen the best and worst changes *cough* the DOT buff patch *cough*. I haven't bought a single thing with real money. All the dlc's and extra char slots I bought from guild members with gold and for someone who hates with a passion the concept of "farming", I am a living proof that you can make enough gold in this game to afford everything. Yes the mount upgrade system is stupid as hell and sometimes I felt like smashing my keyboard when researching traits in the wrong god damn order and yes the npc mages, fighters and psijic guild progression is like puking on a pile of shit, but it's a small price to pay, compared to other mmo's. Is eso the best mmo? No(500+days in eso). Is the the worst? Hell no(3200h+ in Lost Ark before quitting). Edit: +sub. Was not aware of your channel until yt recommended this vid.
I always enjoy your content. Although I can be kind of negative on ESO especially since Greymoor Chapter, I keep ESO installed and log in daily. I have soft quit, meaning I just log in for my daily reward and log off many times in the past often for several months at a time, but despite all ESO is a comfortable place and hopping on and doing content after a break is like coming home. Keep up the good work and ignore the comment psychos.

I just wished that it was cross platform. I put so much time on the PS4 and when I made the move to pc I couldn't play my character anymore. So anything I had from the crown store and the long long long training for mount speed was essentially gone and I had to start over. I know I can just keep playing on PS4, but I was really looking to play it on PC instead. Oh well, I still enjoy watching vids about it though. Not to sheet on it, but to just see what's new and what's the controversy now. It's my reality tv drama lol
They’re totally leaving them in the wrong places then. The forums exist for player feedback. Plus, if you watched the video you would have seen how wild and totally not constructive the comments were. Those absolutely wouldn’t amount to anything regardless of where they were posted
@@Arttea I did watch the video. And a lot of it is venting yes but with the intentions of someone seeing it. You’re not allowed to actually express yourself or criticize freely on forums either. You get warned and banned and ignored. You really have to be careful what you say on forums. A lot of their exposure is dependent upon the TH-camrs making content and twitch streamers and they do actively watch the comment sections along with the forums. I’m sure it’s irritating to get comments on your videos like that but it’s not because anything you did or said.
@@PAPSN That is unfortunate to hear about the forums. I don't doubt that some totally fair criticism gets removed instead of acknowledged, which is really too bad. However, I have also seen a lot of peeps complain that they got silenced on the forums or the official twitch streams or whatever, and then when you see what they were actually saying, you can totally understand why they would have been blocked/removed etc. A lot of those comments are blatantly rude, unconstructive, or borderline harassing in nature. Those more outlandish remarks (which I was goofing on in this video) simply won't be able to amount to any kind of actual change. Screaming "THIS GAME IS DEAD FIX YOUR GAME!!!! ESO IS TRASH" is not something any developer will be able to look at and derive an actual semblance of criticism that can aid them in steering the game in a more favorable direction.
After 10 years of playing eso im actually starting to think quiting the game. The hate players have in wispering and espesislly those gangs of events like pvp events. Those events make me thinking to leave the game. Its just insane that players got reported so many times from so many players because of their poison in ic and they are stil here. They think they own the area. Chasing ppl out. Swap chars and kills just to make ppl leave. And they tell u that in wispering. They simply do not let you farming and play the game to have fun. For me this looks like no lifers. They probebly have nothing to do in real life since they play 18hours a day. This is 1 of them told me. He told me to leave. Because he wil stay 18hours, for me this is insane. What hapend to play for fun and speak nicly to eachother. This is dead to me in this game. I play ps5. And see the same trash player every single year and all the poison
It’s some sort of derangement. You can’t fix it for them, they please themselves by shitting on others. Or they are in too negative a mind space to save themselves by just walking away. I’ve been making a purposeful effort to avoid negative Nancies when it comes to things I enjoy. No reason to taint my own enjoyment. The derangement also spreads to content creators. I had to quit watching Nefas after he went on a little rant about ESO and said people don’t admit they play ESO because it’s so bad. I didn’t relate to that at all. It seemed like he was just playing as a job. I play because I enjoy it. And I choose to surround myself with other people enjoying it.

A lot of the toxic comments are said on reddit too. I got banned many years ago for telling people to practice weaving to get their dps up. People were saying it was « cheating » because it wasn’t meant to be in the game. One of the mods banned me for « admitting to cheating/hacking » because I always said it was a skill that needed to be practice.

My wife and I started playing ESO together around the end of High Isle release, your channel was critical in keeping us noobs in the game. The learning cliff was brutal, especially for my wife coming from Skyrim and no MMO experience. We've really been enjoying the stories and attempting to 100% each zone before moving on to the next. We've completed the Pacts zones, now we're more than half way through the Covenants, the Dominion feels like it's months away before we finally start taking on the core gameplay zones. We both want to thank you for all that you do in covering ESO! We actually were a little concerned after HTM and Skinnycheeks covered the U41 patch notes and didn't see anything from you. Hilarious way of framing this - I laughed so hard and I’m with you! Some people lash out because of their own problems with game addiction. Not everyone is playing unhealthily though! Many ESO players do have jobs and families that they maintain just fine while enjoying the game. I mean, that’s why we have prime time for raiding. It’s when we’ve gotten off work yo! (or finished whatever else keeps us occupied during the normal day like caretaking etc.) And, get this…a lot of us have hobbies outside of ESO too. I work as a dev in fintech for example and have time to also do personal projects just fine WHILE PLAYING ESO. It’s a fun game despite its problems. Just let people enjoy it.
Agree with you 100% on this I generally disagree with the whole "video games are ruining lives" narrative. I'm aware that some people can, unfortunately, build unhealthy relationships or addictions to gaming, but I also think it's entirely reasonable and attainable to be able to spend a lot of time in ESO and have a great time while still tending to your own personal affairs, be it a job, relationships, or other hobbies!

I love ESO and the Elders Scroll franchise. I played for years strictly PvE, but over the past year, joined a few cool ass guilds, have been running trials, dungeons, and even Cyrodiil. It's opened up a game I know well in a completely different way. Chilling with some good peeps online has been nice too. I still maintain a full-time job, life, relationships, etc. I think for those with gaming addiction, they are zealous converts to the red pill bs. Hopefully they find balance in their lives. Meanwhile, I'll be working on my build and whoring myself for transmutes! Thanks for all your great content!

I usually play for several months and stop. its def my go to mmo. It has become harder and harder for new players to play which is my biggest issue. Its a fun game for the most part. I do think as long as its been a game they could've added one handed magic weapons... but I digress your a great content creator and have helped me specifically with selling. It's been a while that I've seen quite a few downright toxic comments about ESO apparently being a shit game, or, quite often, a "dEaD gAMe", and, to be frank, there are also some TH-camrs who feel compelled to make extended version of these comments in video form. Imagine the comment sections on those videos, the black pill there is real. There are also those content creators who hype up the tiniest slivers of speculation on what the next big feature might be then tout their view as Gospel truth. Of course that people will be disappointed in the end. Remember last year? The hype machine of the "spell crafting" feature exploded badly when it was revealed that the big feature of the year was a new class.
But then it's also the community that seems to not really know what they want. Again, with the Necrom example, I remember reading comments about people "not wanting a new class" when at the same time there really were comments about how it's been ages since we've had a new class. Whenever ZOS does something, someone is sulking. It really gives you the impression that the ESOTube is filled to the brim with doomers and depressed people an inch away from the hanging rope when in reality I do not remember witnessing such gloomy player atmosphere in game.

I only rarely comment on videos, though I often want to. For me, I've only somewhat recently left ESO, and I still haven't PROPERLY left (I've unsubscribed, but it's still installed on my PC). It's like a toxic relationship - the game keeps abusing my trust and asking for more money, makes me unhappy, tries to pull me back in with FOMO, etc. The community I once loved is a shadow of what it once was. The urge to vent is part of my effort to distance myself from the game, and convince myself not to relapse into what I know is an unhappy relationship. It's a process.

This sentiment of "I hate the game and people need to know about it" is pretty common. These people STILL play the game, even if they say they don't. One such example would be Diablo 4, there's a full on meme/phenomenon of "D4 bad" yet people still play and buy stuff. It's fairly puzzling, but mostly it's the sunken time fallacy and FOMO.
I agree I don’t understand why these people who hate ESO so much can’t just leave it. Like they love to hate it and are avid anti- fans. There are some people who I follow on twitch and twitter who used to do awesome constructive critic on ESO but as of lately seem to have become anti fans. Like yes ESO is far from perfect but a lot of people still enjoy to play it. Something that these people can’t fathom or accept. It’s annoying.
These people left the game, but having put time and effort into it they desperately need it to die so that they can validate their exit and say they told so. And the longer it takes, the more they question their decision of leaving, their inability to just not care about the game and their initial time and effort put into it.
Probably because the majority of the playerbase is full of toxic casuals who dont understand a lot of the problems with the game and endlessly spout cringeworthy positivity about every mediocre aspect of the game.

Just my two cents but the reason I think ESO players vent to the ESO community is because you actually listen and respond, even if it is to make fun of them or to counter their arguments. The bigger problem is, in my opinion, the fact that ZOS clearly doesn't give two shits about the community or their opinions on anything as long as there is a steady stream of new players to milk to counter the old that get tired of the same old shit and leave.
I've left and come back many times to ESO but I never play more than a month or so cause the content has basically been the same for the last few years. Not bad, not good, but definitely the 3.6 Roentgen of MMO's. Its a big beautiful sandbox that's just full of meh. Only reason pvp hasn't seen any love is because pvp players dont buy expansion packs, eso plus or new content like pve players do unless there is some new op mythic or whatever. Couple that with what feels like every fun playstyle, particularly tanking wise (see tormentor rework that destroys a unique and fun, but in no way meta, tanking playstyle) and it just feels like everything is being homogenised into this puddle of meh.
But hey, the crown store gets updated regularly!

While I also jumped on the "fuck this game" train, it's clear that it's because I just really *really* want it to get better. With my circle of friends, we know that Elder Scrolls is our favorite videogame fantasy franchise. We also know that ESO will be our only source of Elder Scrolls content for a long time. But we're all kinda just sick of the same formula and plot formula and *especially* the plots for expansions where there's always a traitor. (High Isle plot is hot garbage) It sucks trying out another MMO like FF14 and then comparing the two since they both are MMOs that are also console compatible. I never dared try to raid/do trials in ESO whereas FF14 had an easily accessible dungeon/raid group finder. I went back to pug trials because I had more confidence to run higher end content but had to painfully recruit through Craglorn zone chat. (So much for accessibility)
TL;DR I think most of the people who passionately hate ESO just wants it to be better and there is a lot of room to improve. I'd love to come back. I'd love to have the same obsession people still have with it.

I don't think the title should be "Why Are Elder Scrolls Online Players Like This", it should be "Why Are People Like This". This is not exclusive to anything. It's not even exclusive to the internet. I do have a really long answer to this that goes into politics and the way society is structured, but the short version is that people are unhappy/dissatisfied and sometimes you will be the recipient of how that manifests.
I played forever. I left just after the last chapter. It was pay to play, everything cost. In game cash and out of game cash. The chapters felt all the same just cosmeticlly buffet. I enjoyed it for long time. However there was a lot of hostility. The bots are ridiculous. I just stopped trying to deal with it all.
ESO is the type of game you want to see succeed, but every update makes you more angry so I can see why people are upset. But the execution or how they go about it is why we're left with the weird takes or insane posts. Overall I just think the devs need to take a seat down and really ... play their game. I feel like they don't play it is why their calls feel so off.
ESO to me is like an ex-wife. Every so often we still hook up to do some dungeon diving (if you know what I mean) but I always find myself going into my wallet for some reason and then we end up in a real life PVP match

I don't know, I've seen plenty of threads on the official ESO forums with legitimate concerns that get met with nothing but replies like "bait," "gotta be bait," "horker is baitin hard," "another troll." They don't even have a counter argument, they just dismiss OP outright and ignore the issues.
I just started playing eso today. and when looking up content people seem so negative about it. but as someone just starting and enjoying. it kinda sucks seeing how negative the community seems to be at least online. I haven’t met any player yet ^_^
ESO is an old game that most people have played and moved on from or heard about. You can take it as a dead MMO, or you can appreciate it for what it is; a game that came out a decade ago with a niche community of people that still enjoy and support it.

I'm willing to bet at least half of them are people who tried to follow cookie cutter builds and are upset because they can't solo a world boss because they don't have the skill to go with the build. That said, the comment about the devs, I do partially agree with in regards to Rich specifically. After he insulted PvP players live on his stream when asked about it being fixed, I don't think I'll ever see him as a "good guy". His response to the backlash to respec scrolls in crown store being pushed onto newer players only made it worse. Buuuuut I still love the game and I'm not going to whine about it or tell other people what they should or shouldn't play.
Entertaining video. To be honest, I loved ESO. I gladly paid for the annual ESO+ subscription and purchased every chapter's digital collectors edition. I was also always annoyed with the Crown store and especially drop rates with crates but not a deal breaker. Anyway, left the game after a couple years as it was just taking up too much time in my life and I was struggling to get into Trial groups and Vet HM content basically because I was mediocre at putting up numbers.
Then the High Isle chapter was announced and I watched the reveal stream, as I watch most ESO streams still, even though I was not playing anymore. The mention of Oakensoul peaked my interest and so I jumped back in the ESO world. Busted my tail and got the ring and finally, I was able to put up respectable numbers with my magic templar. Joined a good guild and created a dedicated group and started doing all the dungeon challenges. Was making good progress and then, like 2 or 3 months later, I think it was Update 35, the nerf hammer dropped and Oakensoul was dead, at least for the way I was using it, along with the same nerf hammer to the Templar class.
I felt like I was bait and switched. They dangled the carrot that fixed all my problems and just as I was making progress, they yanked it all away. So that was the final straw for me, as far as playing the game and spending $160+ a year on this game. I do still enjoy watching it though and I like the game itself, they just mess with it too much for my liking.
Not sure why the devs don't take advantage of battle spirit as much as they could. Would have fixed the Oakensoul problem.
Heading to 40k+ hours. Yes it has it's problems but it's far from dead. Don't like it? Fuck off and play something else. No one is keeping you here. Great vid as per usual mate.

I try again and again to get into eso but the complete lack of direction is overwhelming.
Here are example of negative, game killing behavior. I remind everyone that this is a sub game, IMO, or not worth playing.
1) You are opening a chest, and a juvenile comes along, spraying you with magic trying to steal a chest you fought enemies to get.
2) You are killing a path through a delve or dungeon, and asinine players just run through and don't help and just behave predatory.
3) The dungeon tanks don't gather up mobs, are evidently fake tanks since they can not hold aggro, and yet picked a PUG instead of a guild group.
4) Nirncrux is idiotic and obtuse to get. Yes, I know the work-around involved with CWC to circumvent it, I am master crafter.
5) Crafting research is asinine long.
6) Housing is VERY fair, a positive. I will compare this to FFXIV, where entire Wards are owned by barons. Bravo.
7) PVP is completely neglected.
8) The number of people required for a guild trader should be 5 or less. The concept of inflating the market and guild corporations is unacceptable. The poison of the real world is why some of us come to gaming to escape.
I have never seen bad behavior corrected in ESO.

The reason I came here was due to friends leaving for life, housing, and love of Elder Scrolls and Skyrim. Eastmarch, Western Skyrim, and Wrothgar are cool.

I think as a content creator there are so many hate comments about things we enjoy and others dont. The way they telling us their opinion is often not the nicest way. I haven't played ESO for years due to a variety of reasons, but how do people even come onto an ESO video and rant about governmental conspiracy theories while claiming to have the body of a greek god? Like... Was that an actual comment? BECAUSE HOLY SHITBALLS.
I never got into ESO specifically, but I loved the solo Elder Scroll games (which is why the algorithm is showing me this, I assume 😊), and I play a few other MMOs.
This was hilarious, and tbh I have no idea why people keep engaging with content focused on stuff they hate. 😅 I have a theory that those people don't actually play and enjoy anything, they just live vicariously through TH-cam/Twitch, so they have plenty of time to spew nonsense.
I think people genuinely feed off of negativity, we all know it sells, but on TH-cam specifically in the gaming industry. People loved to tune in to see all of the streamers shit on Diablo 4. Diablo 4 negative headlines were so much more monetized for content creators than people who actually enjoyed the game. We saw the same thing with Sawman UK who would exclusively make videos bashing Rich Lambert completely monetizing negativity on ESO. Thank God he finally quit, cuz all he did was complain.
I've been playing this game long enough to see the cycle rinse and repeat. A new patch comes out, people shit on the game they say it's dead or they say the devs are stupid, and then they continue playing. It's weird
I never understood the hate for this game. No gatekeeping, no stupid gear progression system, no p2w and a very friendly community(I'm in 2 guilds, an officer in 1 of them and just yesterday we all put gold on the table to help fresh cp160 players buy gear in order to start doing vet content). I'm playing since 2017, so you can say I've seen the best and worst changes *cough* the DOT buff patch *cough*. I haven't bought a single thing with real money. All the dlc's and extra char slots I bought from guild members with gold and for someone who hates with a passion the concept of "farming", I am a living proof that you can make enough gold in this game to afford everything. Yes the mount upgrade system is stupid as hell and sometimes I felt like smashing my keyboard when researching traits in the wrong god damn order and yes the npc mages, fighters and psijic guild progression is like puking on a pile of shit, but it's a small price to pay, compared to other mmo's. Is eso the best mmo? No(500+days in eso). Is the the worst? Hell no(3200h+ in Lost Ark before quitting). Edit: +sub. Was not aware of your channel until yt recommended this vid.

Although I can be kind of negative on ESO especially since Greymoor Chapter, I keep ESO installed and log in daily. I have soft quit, meaning I just log in for my daily reward and log off many times in the past often for several months at a time, but despite all ESO is a comfortable place and hopping on and doing content after a break is like coming home.
Keep up the good work and ignore the comment psychos.

I just wished that it was cross platform. I put so much time on the PS4 and when I made the move to pc I couldn't play my character anymore. So anything I had from the crown store and the long long long training for mount speed was essentially gone and I had to start over. I know I can just keep playing on PS4, but I was really looking to play it on PC instead. Oh well, I still enjoy watching vids about it though. Not to sheet on it, but to just see what's new and what's the controversy now. It's my reality tv drama lol

They’re totally leaving them in the wrong places then. The forums exist for player feedback. Plus, if you watched the video you would have seen how wild and totally not constructive the comments were. Those absolutely wouldn’t amount to anything regardless of where they were posted
@@Arttea I did watch the video. And a lot of it is venting yes but with the intentions of someone seeing it. You’re not allowed to actually express yourself or criticize freely on forums either. You get warned and banned and ignored. You really have to be careful what you say on forums. A lot of their exposure is dependent upon the TH-camrs making content and twitch streamers and they do actively watch the comment sections along with the forums. I’m sure it’s irritating to get comments on your videos like that but it’s not because anything you did or said.
@@PAPSN That is unfortunate to hear about the forums. I don't doubt that some totally fair criticism gets removed instead of acknowledged, which is really too bad. However, I have also seen a lot of peeps complain that they got silenced on the forums or the official twitch streams or whatever, and then when you see what they were actually saying, you can totally understand why they would have been blocked/removed etc. A lot of those comments are blatantly rude, unconstructive, or borderline harassing in nature. Those more outlandish remarks (which I was goofing on in this video) simply won't be able to amount to any kind of actual change. Screaming "THIS GAME IS DEAD FIX YOUR GAME!!!! ESO IS TRASH" is not something any developer will be able to look at and derive an actual semblance of criticism that can aid them in steering the game in a more favorable direction.
After 10 years of playing eso im actually starting to think quiting the game. The hate players have in wispering and espesislly those gangs of events like pvp events. Those events make me thinking to leave the game. Its just insane that players got reported so many times from so many players because of their poison in ic and they are stil here. They think they own the area. Chasing ppl out. Swap chars and kills just to make ppl leave. And they tell u that in wispering. They simply do not let you farming and play the game to have fun. For me this looks like no lifers. They probebly have nothing to do in real life since they play 18hours a day. This is 1 of them told me. He told me to leave. Because he wil stay 18hours, for me this is insane. What hapend to play for fun and speak nicly to eachother. This is dead to me in this game. I play ps5. And see the same trash player every single year and all the poison

I’ve been making a purposeful effort to avoid negative Nancies when it comes to things I enjoy. No reason to taint my own enjoyment.
The derangement also spreads to content creators. I had to quit watching Nefas after he went on a little rant about ESO and said people don’t admit they play ESO because it’s so bad. I didn’t relate to that at all. It seemed like he was just playing as a job. I play because I enjoy it. And I choose to surround myself with other people enjoying it.

I'm a small channel and I honestly love these types of comments when I get them, i just agree then keep it pushing. Though it's really funny seeing some of the crazy ones, I welcome all comments even the unhinged ones. I'm just surprised to have people watch my tiny channel about random crap
The thing is these people are projecting. They're addicted and can't quit, so they want desperately for you and everyone else to quit so the game shuts down permanently and they no longer feel the call of their addiction. You know, rather than just uninstalling the game and finding a new hobby or something.
Those who write all these negative comments hate their lives. The only thing they can do is to make sure that people who are having fun cannot have fun. All they do is humiliate themselves. Most of the hate comes from bandwagon jumping sheep and incels that need something to hate to distract themselves from how pathetic they are. Like that one horker that wrote an entire fan fiction about how he raises animals and builds weapons. I guarantee you the closest thing he has to a weapon is his crusty fleshlight.
Great video. I left ESO like 5 years ago due to the constant cycle of nerfs every few months. Since checking it out again for the past month it's in a much better place. Don't let people get you down.
A lot of the toxic comments are said on reddit too. I got banned many years ago for telling people to practice weaving to get their dps up. People were saying it was « cheating » because it wasn’t meant to be in the game. One of the mods banned me for « admitting to cheating/hacking » because I always said it was a skill that needed to be practice.

If only it were just former players. There are a few content creators as well who left for absolutely lively games like New World (l o l) and somehow haven't been able to move on. Some people keep toxic relations with games even after they've been long gone.
