I don't think that the pre-rendered graphics in X5 look bad. I think they look very good! Heck, X4 has some pre-rendered stuff too, so why people hate them in X5? I mean, Donkey Kong Country also has very good pre-rendered graphics for goodness sake! LOL

Using weaknesses is even more boring, it stuns the bosses and makes them useless most of the time making it unfun to play.
