- Just a quick vid showing how easy it is to inspect the high pressure pump and lifter on these fsi engines.
In this instance I didn't think this was going to be our fault, but was wrong. Nice easy cheap fix
I would like to say thank you to anyone who watches my videos and sincerely hope they help you in some way.
Obviously if you dont want to take on this job yourself your friendly Diagnostic Specialist guy (thats me) is more than willing :)

Thank you so much for making this video! 😊 I'm going to check this cam follower on my Golf MK5 1,6 FSI since its hard to start sometimes. It seems like its very easy to do.
Another string to my 'education' bow. Thankyou once again chap
Thanks Chris,
Quick question. When you remove the two fuel pipes off the fuel pump, any advice on how?
Will there only be a tiny amount of fuel that will spill out that can be soaked up with a cloth?
Great video, going to check my fsi now
Btw would a failed lifter bucket cause excess fuel being used or smelt?
At the moment through a diagnostic test I have error code
Fuel pressure regulator ‘b performance, control circuit high
Salut ! Alors quelle conseille me donnez vous ?
GREAT! thanks again for this video ! I removed the fuel pump and the spring was all that was there!, no end on it! also there was just a gaping hole and no end what so ever on the follower , I am just keeping my fingers crossed that this will fix the car and not need the cam shaft done!,, I shall get a used fuel pump tomorrow and new follower , then change the oil!
many thanks for your straight to the point video, I would never have know this issue without it, thumbs up
Hi, just to add, I changed this part and the fuel pump but I am still getting the same codes and engine running lumpy, any idea what I can do next? eml is on again with same codes as before,, any ideas please?
@@alesypalsyso what was it
@@zukhrufhussain2271 I sold the car with the fault , I no idea in the end!
where is the piece that broke from the follower??
Hi I have a mk5 golf gttdi 2.0l 140bhp when engine is warm happens every now and then mainly at a consistent speed it will cut out crank but not start. No lights on dash. Iv changed crank shaft sensor, camshaft sensor, body throttle and egr which did throw a code up but cut out on me again today cranks wont start end up cranking that long with pauses in between so not cranking constant battery dies have to wait for some one to give me a jump with vigorous pedal pumping it will start and drive and not have the issue again till a week or 2. Thanks
Does this also need to be changed on a 1.6 FSI engine code BLF?
yes
Can a 2.0 cam follower fit a 1.6......
Hi. Where is the fuel rail pressure sensor in this engine?
Thank you.
good video very helpful!, I have just brought a mk5 1.6 fsi golf and the engine management light is on, did you have any codes on this fault as I have 2!
P2293 - 002 - mechanical malfunction, and also Camshaft positioner (bank 1 intake) p000A - 008 slow response intermittent,,
Is it possible this is the problem? it looks like one of the old owners has put a new fuel pump on it as its very shiny, car has done 105,000 miles, any advice most welcome! thanks and great video!
Whats the OEM number on the cam follower?
My parents had a mk5 with the 1.6FSI engine was so bad an over complex engine for what it is. Always had an engine or epc light and constantly going in limp mode. Every mot would have a carbon dioxide high at idle
Hi! can you help with P1031 Intake Mainfold runner control error. How can i fix this?
I have the same problem with my car 1.4 fsi. I also have a parasitic drain that kills the battery within a hour or so. Can this be linked?
Hi did you manage to find a fix for the battery drain?
Hi there I am getting a p2540 (fuel low pressure sensor rail) fault error on my vw golf mk5 1.4 fsi. I already have check and replace the sensor, but the problem still remains. I check the control module but it's not very hot and it looks in very good condition. Also the cam follower has a little damage on the black bottom. I Just replace that also but still nothing. The issue that my car has is when I am driving it on the city sometimes I have loose power on my gas. That problem I don't have it on the highway when I am going on an trip. Please I will appreciate it very much to help me with your answer and your knowledge on fsi motors. My motor engine is BLN. Thanks in advance for your help
By cutting out, you mean at starting the car, the clutch reacts like trying to start it without any rpm? Or very low rpm
I have a vw Touran 2004 1.6 fsi that has a build up of pressure or vacuum in the petrol tank ( hisses badly when I refuel) at about 30 mph I get stuttering / rough running, I get out of the car remove the fuel cap, get allot of hissing and gurgling in the tank, then carry on driving ok, I have to keep the tank over half full at all times, if anyone can help I would really appreciate it
Check your charcoal canister mate, in the front of the car on the left hand side
Good info on the name of the part 👍
Usefull
Did this engine have poor service history? I've got this engine on 145k and never had any fuel issues. Not checked the bucked but probably will now. cheers
I had a limp mode issue many times but mine was the actual high pressure pump changed it and the shaking and limp mode stopped...
can you get randomly misfires in your cilinders because of that (fuel)
part on top of the motor.
Yes as it cant supply enough to ignite
Speed Tweaks good to know. I replaced the coils and bougies and still misfire in cilinder 1. Motor is shocking and cannot run stationary. The only thing i didn’t replaced is the injector.
I've just found out my car high pressure fuel pump sensor is broken, as I didn't attach the engine cover properly and slammed the bonnet. It broke from the plastic base that's attached to the pump itself, where you attach the connector. I think, correct me if I'm wrong, it's the fuel regulator valve. Is there any way I could just change the valve only instead of the whole regulator?
I honestly couldn't say as it's not something I have come up against I'm afraid. Call Vw dealer and ask them to email you the part page which will show all the components you can buy individually
@@SpeedTweaks thank you very much for getting back to me. i ended up replacing the whole fuel regular. with the help of your video, it was a straight job. keep it up
No worries Chuck, glad it was of use. Will try add more stuff soon when back to work 👍🏻
Do you have a part number for the cam follower ?
I do it's at work, ask again Monday or I will forget
Hey mate do you mind getting the part number
It is 03C109309E
Hello
Thank you for the video
A question tho I tried to take the fuel pump of the car but when I tried to take the wire off it started spraying fuel
After that I quit doing it
Is it normal for fuel spray from the pipes?
Thank you
Anyone you tried mannol classic or liqui molygen oil n this engine?
Fantastic video thanks for sharing 👍👍👍👍
I just purchased the follower with the part number you provided but it looks totally different to the one that I’m replacing it with
Hi, I have the same problem but I can only find cam followers for a 2.0T. No where sells the part number you provided. Would that fit my 1.6fsi? The part looks the exact same...
Hi David, I just typed the part number into google and got over 1,800 results. Failing that call your local VW and give them your details and tell them you want the HPFP Cam Follower
Cheers ray
No worries Dave
Hi, I have this same issue for the same car, but it cuts out after an hour long journey in traffic. Once the car heats up. I have spoken to 4/5 mechanics and spent nearly £600. Yet no one is able to work out the fault. This video made a lot of sense. Ill be showing this to my mechanic. Hopefully i can get this sorted. Where are you based?
Based in sunny Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire check out www.speedtweaks.co.uk or www.rickmansworthtuning.com for contact stuff
Any news ? I have same issue and this follower was new
@@SpeedTweaks thnks
@@SpeedTweaks is it really sunny there ? as i shall be moving there real quick if it is 🙂
Hi Mohamed i have same issue with golf plus 1.6 fsi .
Did you find where the issue is?
3:52 "Old" "High mileage"
Looks out the window to his 2004 mk5 with 206.000Km (128.002Miles) on the clock and still going strong :D
200km is nothing in this engine .
I have 300km and it is still strong and without changing the cam.😂
same problem here, i know what to look for now, thanks
what about , Low Pressure Fuel Sensor (G410) P2540 -008- Implausible Signal - MIL ON
Did you fix the problem? i am dealing the same problem for a long time...
@braxma09 ive tried everything.. and changed the sensor and it goes back to the same error
@@Trancechronic The only think i have noticed is that when the engine light opens the short fuel trim become positive about 12%. That means a lean condition
Can anyone help us with that unsolved problem?
Hi mate. You have a number
