Hi CJ. Thanks for your fabulous channel. I tried the Feathertail -6 degree quilt last weekend in the mountains and can't believe how comfortable and warm it is. A great option for a side-sleeper.
Thanks for sharing this. I’ll be interested to see how the nemo goes in sub zero temps. I have a S2S ether light XT but it’s so bulky and takes up so much room in my pack. I’d love something smaller like the nemo, Looks like a great campsite there too :)
I'll be using the Nemo all winter, so I will be sure to have some feedback. The nemo mats do pack quite small, I'm assuming by your comment about bulk that you have the ether light XT extreme? If so that thing is massive. If you have the regular ether light XT I tend to find they don't offer much insulation despite the claimed R value. You would likely get a notable increase in insulation and gain some space back in your pack with a Nemo or even Thermarest mat.
@@campfirejesus sorry, yes I have the XT extreme and yeah jt sure is massive. Also the regular xt and you are right about the R value. Its cold. I look forward to your winter feedback. Happy hiking ;)
@@campfirejesus oh wow! Thats a decent temperature test too. Thanks so much for letting me know. Looks like I’ll be listing my xt extreme for sale 😂 I look forward to the video too :)
Great timing. Just starting my journey into lighter weight gear. So. Much. To. Learn 😂. Or rather, un- learn. More light weight gear reviews/debates please. Also, another beautiful location!
Looks good CFJ. The Nemo looks like it’s nice and wide also. My Therm-o-rest quilt has a similar attachment system which attaches away from the edge, which I think works well. I like the Neve straps through which you attach around the sleeping mat. Is the -6 the comfort rating or minimum?
Thanks mate. The comfort rating is -6c and the weight is 695g. My initial impressions of the Neve Gear quilt are very positive. The rectangular shape of the nemo is good, and it is a very comfortable pad. I'm curious to see how it holds up

I just tested this sleep system (in a different tent) on a 4 day trip with temps ranging between -5c to -10c and it performed very well

It's an awesome journey to be on Hamish, and un-learning is a great way of looking at it! 😆
