New subscriber - thanks to your great reaction to & appreciation of this epic performance by Angelina (which she also arranged) - at age 9. Even at this young age, the band members affectionately referred to her as "The Boss". Angelina Jordan from Norway is now 17 & has close to 200 covers along with some originals readily available on TH-cam. But - in order to better understand her musical roots, I highly recommend going back to all 4 of her Norway Got Talent performances (Gloomy Sunday, I'm A Fool To Want You, Bang Bang & Summertime) - at ages 7-8. Please be sure to select a video with English subtitles (while Angelina sings in English, the narrator & judges are speaking Norwegian). Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.
She’s a prodigy. Once in a generation talent. Worth going down the rabbit hole to watch her development each year beginning seriously at age 6, although there’s also video of her singing Whitney Houston when AJ was 18 months. A gift to the universe.
I love watching a reactor discover this performance for the first time. Angelina is a wonder to behold. I believe she is one of the most talented artists of her generation. I hope you continue to follow her progress. It will be a rewarding journey. I look forward to experiencing your journey along with you. Thanks.
Welcome to the table and the world of our Angel. Dive deep into the rabbit hole and there will be no end in site. Now at 17 years old and just released her debut single for her upcoming EP from Republic Records. With over 170 covers and now 6 originals, Angelina is about to take over the world with cover model looks and a voice like no other. Thanks for your reaction and enjoy the ride.
Well when a group of professional studio musicans feel honered of getting to play for a 9 yo litle girl you know that the girl realy is spesial. Angelina has been a star from the age of 8. No mather what song or genre you pick you never will find a bad performance.
Anguilla was 9 in this. She entered Norway's got talent at 7 and won. Her earliest song on utube was at 18 months old. I recommend watching her singing I who have nothing at age 6 then how great thou art for her.low range and one of her Whitney Houston or Freddie Mercury covers to high range. She's the youngest published author in Norway's history speaks Norwegian English Farsi Swedish and at least some Japanese. She's performed in Japan in Japanese. She does her own arrangements. Absolutely Beautiful at 17 now. Super model looks.
My thoughts on this performance. I love this performance so much. As they say AJ don't play. We get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will always be Iconic. Angelina has on her own from early on at 6 or 7 yrs old reintroduced what I believe will be a whole new Jazz Era and redefined by this young phenom and prodigy. That is astounding! And she is just 17 years old... That is unfathomable. She has already established her proficiency and incredible work ethic in this endeavor guided by an incredible family and professional support now surrounding her.
You just watched a Masterpiece! Destined to go down in Music History as the best performance by a 9 yr old, Period! Past, present & dare I say Future! I'd like to see anyone, young or old who can do a cover of this & with the justice it deserves as Angelina has done on every cover she does. ♥👣👸🏻
The best jazz instrumentalist would be honored to be able to play for Anglelina! Now that you’ve heard this one, and her latest, Love Don’t Let Me Go, I suggest you go back and hear her audition at Norway’s Got Talent, where she sings “Gloomy Sunday” at 7 years old. Angelina is the greatest female jazz singer, ever. And she’s still only 17!
Sir, Andy told you the most, THANKS ANDY!!!!, Angelina sings (more or less) since age 1,5. She practices her craft and art since age 3 to 4 for araound 36 hours weekly. At age 3 she had a bucket list of things to do, she did them!!! Sir, you and yours be safe and enjoy life. Elmar from Germany
She been a professional since 7, for 10 years she has been gifting the world with her voice, and her heart. She has been quite protected and she has the power to call the shots. Welcome to history being made, you made it just in time because Angelina is just getting started!
This performance is so overwhelmingly profound that I weep with joy every time! Your reaction is understandable! Subd for more flags love from England 😂
Angelina was near her 9th birthday when she created her arrangement for this 1956 Screamin Jay Hawkins classic, then took control of the studio and musicians to deliver a powerful, sassy performance. Please read the biography I compiled for Angelina. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on TH-cam. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on TH-cam went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a TH-cam video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. The album can be purchased on iTunes or Amazon. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT which would give Simon any control over her career. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on TH-cam. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On TH-cam, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. I now introduce her to as many people as I can, with the hope her music will do the same for others. We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always dreamt and believed she would be. I encourage others to use this biography to help educate others about the love, empathy, magic and beauty that is Angelina Jordan Astar and her unique music.
Thank you for the lengthy reply. It was emotional just reading it. I remember watching AGT champions but must have not really been paying attention at the time. Again thank you for taking the time.
Thank you for featuring discovering Angelina Jordan. I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on TH-cam, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below, (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella! Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.
And that...... is how the song was meant to be sung, including the original by "Screamin" Jay Hawkins. Highly encourage you to read the biography compiled by Andy Schnell, it will give you a very good sense of who Angelina is, and why she is so loved by her fans. Rest assured, she did not damage her voice here, in fact she never sang it in quite this way since. She has however steadily improved over the years. She is a force to be reckoned with, especially now as she is spreading her wings soon to embark on a world tour. This girl is truly something very special, not only as an extremely talented vocalist, but also as a humble, kind and caring human being. Looking forward to seeing more Angelina on your channel.
Wonderful reaction. Take the journey, Sir, Take the journey. This, at age 9, was after she auditioned for and won Norway's Got Talent at age 7/8 (NOT a kid show). "I Put A Spell On You" is Angelina Jordan's own arrangement base on the 1956 "Screaming" Jay Hawkins original. You are correct that Creedence Clearwater Revival did this song. On Friday, May 5, 2023, at age 17, Angelina Jordan has dropped her first single from the album of all originals expected in a few months this year. I heard your reaction to that. So, I have subscribed. You seem to bring some musical awareness to your reaction, and I like that. Her fans are called angels and have long been enthusiastic supporters and promoters. Everyone is wild with excitement over the new single, "Love Don't Let Me Go." I'll be looking for you again. BTW, an EP will drop in June, I believe. Grandma Ellen, out.
Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became the youngest ever vocalist to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy. She is now 17, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, although she has not experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records almost two years ago. She has not been widely promoted yet, as her family wanted to allow her a normal childhood. However, she graduates school this year, and her new album of originals should be released within the next few months, followed by a world tour, possibly this summer. Here is a link from ages 6 to 17 of over 100 Angelina chronological TH-cam performances with five originals. Here is a more comprehensive playlist of approximately 190 videos including tiktok and Instagram. Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even donated her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond. Angelina captures hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace. I trust this will cause you to embrace her as millions of others have, and that you will continue down the rabbit hole from which you will not want to escape. Peace and love. - Who is Angelina Jordan - Angelina is a Norwegian born child prodigy in music. She's a singer/ songwriter who's arranged over 180 covers and 5 originals, all since the age of 7. Angelina began singing at 18 months old. At 2, she began teaching herself how to sing, focusing primarily on the jazz masters of decades gone by. These are artists such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Etta James. She's also influenced by Amy Winehouse, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, and Adele, to name a few. She's also been said to be the girl of 1,000 voices. Yet even though we can hear the phrasing and style she puts in the songs, it's always Angelina that we hear. At 7 years old, she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent. She was the last to audition. The judges had no idea who she was or what she could do. They saw a diminutive mussy haired, barefooted girl with her teeth still growing in. For her audition, she performed "Gloomy Sunday" from Billie Holiday. On TV-2, they've reported over 14 million views of this performance. This does not take into account the many hundreds of reactors showing this audition to millions more. Needless to say, Angelina went on to win the 2014 season of NGT shortly after her 8th birthday. The family was bombarded with requests for performances, interviews, and record label offers. They turned down 90% of the requests, as they insisted that Angelina should enjoy a normal childhood. That didn't stop Angelina from performing at select engagements around the world, singing for Heads of State, and even Barack Obama. She's spent time and worked with musicians such as Quincy Jones and Alan Walker. She first appeared on American television, The View, at 8 years old. Angelina auditioned for America's Got Talent The Champions at 13 years old. She made it just up to the final selection of the final 5 when she dropped from the competition. Some attribute this to her refusal to sign with an AGT affiliated label, should she win. She knew very well what production hungry labels could do to her music. At 14, Angelina signed with Republic Records. Republic gave her complete artistic control as well as control over the performances she would make. She turned 17 on January 10, 2023, and will graduate from high school after the spring semester. From then on, she will embark on her full-time professional career. She's been working closely with Republic on her first album under their label. It's likely that it will drop shortly after her graduation.Comments are turned off on Angelina Jordan singing "Gloomy Sunday."- Who is Angelina Jordan - Angelina is a Norwegian born child prodigy in music. Welcome to the world of Angelina Jordan, your life will never be the same. Angelina has been performing publicly since the age of 7 when she won Norways got talent. She is now 17 with a new song just released friday. In the 10 years she has been singing she has amassed a library of more than 150 covers and original songs every one excellent. She arranged this song, you can see her making last minute changes to the arrangement in the beginning of the vid. Have fun exploring her rabbit hole.
This was a great reaction, sir! I subscribed to you on the other video "Love Don't Let Me Go." When you queried whether she had recorded anything since this one, I couldn't help but chuckle. She won Norway's Got Talent in 2014 at age 8, going on to do performances in Norway, Sweden, Germany, Japan, the USA, Brazil, etc. To date, she has recorded / released 6 originals ("What Is Life?," "Oslo," "Shield," "Million Miles," "7th Heaven," and "Love Don't Let Me Go," with more originals to come very soon with her new album through Republic Records. From the age of 6 to now, the covers she has produced are mind-blowing, approaching almost 200 titles and about 85 different artists of the past and present. She wrote and published a book at age NINE (!), telling the heartmelting true story of why she NEVER wears shoes while performing. This made her the youngest published author in Norway's history! She signed with Republic Records in the fall of 2020 at age 14. Born on January 10, 2006, she is now 17 years old, will graduate high school in a few weeks, release her album (or an EP of it), and begin a world tour. She and her family have resided in Los Angeles for a few years now. She is clearly a vocal prodigy and musical genius who has studied the jazz artists and other greats of the past literally (no joke!) since she was a toddler. There is even a short YT video of her attempting to sing Dolly Parton/Whitney Houston's song "I Will Always Love You," at 18 months of age in her crib! She and her family are close knit; they are highly supportive of her, but have never pushed her (in fact, have put the reins on the speed of her career over the years to give her a normal childhood and very well-grounded, value-based upbringing). She is an extremely loving, caring, kindhearted soul who wants to "bring love to mankind through her music"(her statement, not mine), an extraordinarily empathetic soul, as beautiful inside as she is outwardly.
You have witnessed early and present Angelina (I see you reacted to Love Don't Let Me Go). But wait, her first album will be released this summer. So get ready to add more incredible works to your playlist. This young woman is beyond compare. Those who have compared her to Adele (see her covers) and others often find her covers better than the originals. Enjoy the journey; her dedicated fans (the angels) will be with you all the way. Enjoy! Thoughts from another river city Iowan.
Great reaction. This is one of my all time favorites. I will frequently come back to these early beginning performances of Angelina, age six thru nine, for the pleasure of falling in love with her all over again. Here is a list from Rusty Shackleford's channel that covers, chronologically, years 6 thru 17. The first six, are Angelina at her youngest. They are, each and every one, absolutely stunning, and set the stage for anyone to lose themselves down this beautiful rabbit hole. Your next reaction covers her first release from her soon to be released Republic album, age 17 now. th-cam.com/play/PL2v8kgVeo4EbYDVnRwObjETfWpXbzbgIO.html
... AND also thanks a billion for supporting AJ by putting the link to her video in the description 😃 Stay well and healthy and have a good time reacting to the next 140++ videos of Angelina Jordan 😎 Best wishes from Berlin/Germany Andreas 😎
Welcome to a start to an incredible journey, if you decide to pursue it. There are an enormous amount of covers by her, along with a few originals. She is 17 now, and her Day View single release just happened to have been dropped 2 days ago. Keep them coming sir, looking forward to more AJ from you, and thanks!
I remember listening to the original version of this song by Screamin' Jay Hawkins when it came out in 1956. It's Screamin' Jay's photo on the candle Angelina's holding up in the beginning, her tribute to him. His version is WAY more theatrical (hence the fake bone in his nose), sort of an early version of "shock rock." The band practiced this song with Angelina in another location, following HER arrangement. They respectfully refer to her as "The Boss." And, yet, she has remained humble throughout her life. Oh, and she performs barefoot after meeting a homeless girl who had no shoes, weighing people on the street for an income. Angelina gave the girl her favorite boots and promised to perform barefoot until all children have shoes. Angelina was 6 years old when she did that. She's even given HUGE amounts of her earnings to charities! Simply Amazing!
A nice first reaction! Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. Now 17 years old, living in Los Angeles, and is signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records have agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. She has a new single coming out May 5th and a new album of original music which will be coming out this year. She recently returned back to Norway and performed at a number of sold out concerts in which fans from around the world came to see her. Many of the fans there said she sounded better live in person and was a once in a lifetime experience. Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a shoeless homeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to be a superstar, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. One of the reasons why we love her so much!
Nice reaction RCR. Stick with Angelina and watch your 631 Subs blow up. I'm there. Greatest performance ever. Barely 9 and does her own arrangements. The band calls her The Boss. You have almost 200 performances to choose from. You will find she takes iconic songs to the next level.
She has about 170 covers and now 6 original songs and if you react to them you would be saying or at least 90% of them same things, I cannot believe, I do not understand, this is not possible, it gives me goosebumps
Great reaction and welcome to the world of Angelina Jordan. It's a great place to be! Regarding the growl and your concern for her voice, the grittiness of this performance was a one off. Even when singing this song later, she toned down the growling. As you'll see, her voice has continued to develop and is now something to behold. As you can already see, AJ's fans will provide you a world of information about her. Enjoy the ride!
12:19am. Fun video... But, you ought to see her now .. her voice in perfect & fine, undamaged condition... Now home in a 17 yr old young lady.... Be warned... You're about to visit the AMAZING, world of genius, of a sound like no other... Welcome to the Magical World of Angelina Jordan... Artist EXTRAORDINAIRE!!
Excelente !! She is an Real Angel singing ! Please check her cover from the great Billie Holliday , Gloomy Sunday . Even more younger . Increible Reincarnation no doubt . Bravooo!!!
Your timing on discovery couldn’t have been better. Fortunately for you Angelina just relaxed her new single “Love Don’t Let Me Go” it’s her long awaited first single from her professional debut. She is an incredible singing talent and amazing human being. You should really take the journey and follow her career through the years starting from when she was 7 winning Norway’s Got Talent show until now, a 17 year old incredible talent
One of her first arrangements (she arranges all her songs since) and just shortly after she became Norway's Youngest Published Author....You wanna hear that in Japanese or Farsi? Mabe her native Norwegian?
Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with the same band at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. There are English subtitles as the spoken language is Norwegian: th-cam.com/video/SAkZDAXJA4E/w-d-xo.html
- The Barefoot Princess - (From her book, television and radio interviews, and podcasts made between 2014-2015. Includes excerpts from her diary made that day in 2012.) Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at 6 years old, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them. Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true, you have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.
Hi RiverCityReactor, even if you already got some comments with good information allow me sending you my "standard firsties comment" (SFC) - maybe you can find some for you new information in it ;-) So, here is my SFC: Welcome to the universe of Angelina Jordan and thanks a billion for this nice reaction to her - I'm sure to hear more reactions to her from you! ...because it is... ...too late! From now on you are assimilated in Angelina's entourage! Resistance is futile... Even if you won't believe it and if you are in denial about it: Only listen to one song sung by Angelina Jordan and you are hooked on listening her voice! Maybe you aren't aware of it yet... a legend says in rare cases there are humans who can resist.... but I can't believe it ;-) Every time it's a pleasure to watch people reacting to Angelina Jordan - especially when it is the first time - and I hope to see more of your reactions on Angelina Jordan... ;-) A little explanation: Her cover "I put a spell on you" b/w studio version at 9yo (th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html - btw. she made most of her cover arrangements by herself!) based on the original from Screemin' Jay Hawkins (from 1956) - Live: th-cam.com/video/7kGPhpvqtOc/w-d-xo.html or another version of it: th-cam.com/video/orNpH6iyokI/w-d-xo.html and here a version from 1990 in Tokyo - I feel, this is like the version Angelina has taken as the model, but I don't know it ( ;-) ): th-cam.com/video/Bb9ag8bch_U/w-d-xo.html or as Audio-Studio-Version: th-cam.com/video/82cdnAUvsw8/w-d-xo.html) that's real fun - if you watch this too and may be after this watch Angelinas cover again you will find out that Angelinas cover is a real tribute to Jay Hawkins :-D At the beginning you see her something writing on a sheet and a man reading it and smiles than.. in an interview this man, who was the "bandleader", said, this were some "wishes" from Angelina (she was every time very polite he said) for changes of her arrangement for the piano :))) The candle you can see at about 0:12 shows a portrait of J. Hawkins - I think her grandma bought it at a concert in Tokyo ;) At 0:26 you can see the bassist smiling - I can imagine that he smiles about the expectable reactions of the listeners in the moment, when Angelina starts to sing at 0:30 ;-) Btw. I read somewhere that her grandma was in person at a concert of SJH in Japan (as she, AJs mother and uncle lived there some years - AJs grandpa is Japanese) and there AJs grandma bought this candle as a souvenir ;) ...I hope this story isn't a HOAX :)) Maybe you wonder, what videos you should next react to ;-) ... Furthermore there is a big pile of over 170 videos on TH-cam with Angelina Jordans rehearsals, covers and originals... and each and every one is worth to listen and to react to - even the very early recordings when she was 6 yo! She is born January 10th 2006 in Oslo/Norge (English is her 3rd language ;-) ), sung her first notes of a Whitney Houston song with 18 months (link see down), started researching the internet for Jazz 3 yo, entered Norske Talenter (Norwegian Got Talent) 7 yo and won it 8 yo, was on AGT The Champions (recorded Oct. 2019, aired Jan. 2020) where she didn't won - some rumours say because she/her mother didn't sign the contract with the enterprise of Simon Cowell for to stay independent - meanwhile she has signed with Republic Records (musicnorway.no/aktuelt/industry-talk-michael-astar ). Btw. her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar, but in most occasions she is introduced as Angelina Jordan - she herself answered in the audition of Norske Talenter her name is "Angelina Jordan"… ;-) First of all, here are the official channels of her and the most known fan club: Angelina Jordan Official - th-cam.com/channels/1Pwa4nFvIPbtYVLcBGDpjA.html Angelina Jordan Cover Channel - th-cam.com/channels/v-QOBc_N1xb8dTwqazD9Kg.html Angelina Jordan VEVO Channel - th-cam.com/channels/D9xBPlntT45VN6dY1LNhng.html Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz - th-cam.com/channels/hM_lpT4shdnsez93QMJPig.html her website: www.angelinajordanofficial.com/ (on this web site you can find also her accounts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) her TikTok-channel: www.tiktok.com/@angelinajordana and the site of Republic Records with her introduction: www.republicrecords.com/artists/angelina-jordan Some links from the big pile: Here the short doku with her singing at 1,5yo (see her singing at this age at 1:52-2:10): th-cam.com/video/VJjG68Dfr-8/w-d-xo.html (One of?) "Above the water": th-cam.com/video/SC3F0bKKk3U/w-d-xo.html - interesting voice - even if EDM is not my preferred genre ;-) ... here her "mini concert" from AGT the Champions (Watch out: With these videos other reactors have the most problems with copyright claims...): "Bohemian Rhapsody": th-cam.com/video/7gQljxeaNuM/w-d-xo.html "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road": th-cam.com/video/NVRWYEk8T3A/w-d-xo.html “Someone You Loved": th-cam.com/video/0go_TIm4jtI/w-d-xo.html ...and for those, who like to hear it with the audio from the rehearsal without the noise from the audience at the performance a version edited from pa1189j : th-cam.com/video/O6Jw-ETH1mA/w-d-xo.html In the meanwhile there are some more live versions of her originals and some cover songs from her summer 2022 concerts like in Kurbadhagen... ;-) Besides she is mostly making her very own arrangement there are some very interesting videos of her, where she uses the original arrangement or a big one of someone else like "I Have Nothing" (Whitney Houston Tribute) th-cam.com/video/eTcvvO6B3Io/w-d-xo.html or "Fly Me To The Moon" in the arrangement of Quincy Jones (rehearsal with concert mixed audio for his birthday party in the O2 arena): th-cam.com/video/OMkwoqUNNkE/w-d-xo.html . And here is a video where it is explained (with English subtitles) why she performs barefoot: th-cam.com/video/A-OKLslO74Y/w-d-xo.html and here an Interview in the Norwegian TV (with English subtitles) from 2015 after she has published her book about the story why she is barefoot when performing: th-cam.com/video/-cCLDY0CSZ8/w-d-xo.html In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program (I read, that this school said, they couldn't teach her more stuff because she has all learned what she could learn in this school ;-) ) - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her grandma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield"). So, she is a real all-rounder and I think all her fans are eager to see and hear what she is doing next... All the other things like more recommendation, chronological playlists and so on you can read in the comments of the mega-fans like Fernando F., Rusty (AJ videos in chronological order th-cam.com/channels/55am_6Y5-Fj4ri8xOInstA.html), Andy Schnell, ... Thanks a billion again for your reaction! … and see you soon with your next AJ reactions - with greetings from Berlin/Germany :-D Best regards Andreas 😎
Here is a great example of how Angelina sounded in the Summer of 2022 at age 16 performing live - this video is part of a documentary about the 2022 Kongsberg Jazz Festival in Norway - There is a short interview of Angelina in the beginning followed by her performing two of her original songs live in concert: th-cam.com/video/HKK66K5u1Fc/w-d-xo.html
"This sounds like an incredible vocal talent that you don't hear but once in a great while." You hit the proverbial nail on the head right there, RCR. Welcome to the world of Angelina. There's a ton of her vids on TH-cam. Here's a collection of her TH-cam videos, compiled by one of her super fans. th-cam.com/play/PL2v8kgVeo4EbQD6l_WAVjOfItquzW7oEc.html. Enjoy!
Screamin' Jay Hawkins wrote and performed this in '56. It took until this version for someone (AJ) to do a version that does his original full justice. He wrote a serious song but the initial recording was done when he and the band were 3 sheets to the wind. The performance was wildly theatric and has been called an early shock rock song although it was written as blues. AJ takes it back to blues and fills it with intense emotion thereby telling the original story while maintaining the intensity he put into that first performance. No other performance, among all the greats that have covered it, has achieved that unique combination. AJ conceived, arranged and sang this version at age 9. WRT to her voice, this is the last time she sang this song in this way, perhaps to preserve her voice. None-the-less, she is a premier vocalist, and some believe the best performing today.
Just to let you know AJ has been in the studio since 6 started on TV at age 7, won Norways got talent at 8, this is her at 9, She did many many unbelievable things at 10 -12, went on AGT at 13 in 2020 brought the house down on all 3 of her performances there (must hear) before she had to leave and currently is 17 years old and just dropped another single (visualizer) on May 5th 2023 you really need to support this one also its her own called "LOVE DONT LET ME GO"
Right about that same time frame she also did this song,” th-cam.com/video/meUN_mTpl1I/w-d-xo.html Here’s a concert that she did may be a year ago .I just found it four days ago. Angelina concert th-cam.com/video/LhZrg2nW9d8/w-d-xo.html

Fierce Masterpiece! Fearless, timeless and ageless. Wonderful ❣️
Thanks.
Subscribed to hear more Angelina reactions please! You will never be disappointed with this amazing, amazing singer! ❤ Great reaction😊
Didn't realize she was from Norway until everyone commented such. Thanks for the info.
And now you understand why you see so many reactors checking her out. I hope you continue reacting to her! your life will change for the better.
She been a professional since 7, for 10 years she has been gifting the world with her voice, and her heart. She has been quite protected and she has the power to call the shots. Welcome to history being made, you made it just in time because Angelina is just getting started!

Nice reaction!
So glad you have stumbled across our amazing Angelina. Others have already said everything I could possibly say. Welcome to the rabbit hole!
Her recent cover of suspicious minds is superb 😗👌
*Why Angelina always performs barefoot*
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money.
PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial
Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old.
Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield”
In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released.
The longer you listen to Angelina, the better person you become. Thanks, Angelina!
Thank you for the lengthy reply. It was emotional just reading it. I remember watching AGT champions but must have not really been paying attention at the time. Again thank you for taking the time.
@@rivercityreactor Enjoy your Angelina journey. Surprise and pleasure with each video.
Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below,
(a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled.
(e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine"
(f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand.
(i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word
(j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better.
Thank you for the information. I appreciate the time taken to respond.
Thank you. I'll definitely be looking forward to more.

- Who is Angelina Jordan -
Angelina is a Norwegian born child prodigy in music.
It's likely that it will drop shortly after her graduation.Comments are turned off on Angelina Jordan singing "Gloomy Sunday."- Who is Angelina Jordan -

Thank you for the lengthy insight.
Thank you. Will do fellow Iowan.
This is a Angelina Classic now! Insane how good she is! Welcome and thank you!👌💫💯❤️
Great reaction.

Thank you. I saved that Playlist for easy reference.
I might get criticised, but she was sent to earth, to sing and lead us to the path of light, that we lost.
Heheehehe, love watching new reactors to the Barefoot Princess it's a video in itself :)
...
AND also thanks a billion for supporting AJ by putting the link to her video in the description 😃
Stay well and healthy and have a good time reacting to the next 140++ videos of Angelina Jordan 😎
Best wishes from Berlin/Germany
Andreas 😎

She's 9 in this video. She's 17 now.............and WAY better.
Try her cover of I Who Have Nothing, one of four songs that she did on her first time in a professional recording studio at 6 years old.
Welcome to the rabbit hole
One of her first arrangements (she arranges all her songs since) and just shortly after she became Norway's Youngest Published Author....You wanna hear that in Japanese or Farsi? Mabe her native Norwegian?
Welcome to the show man, it's a wild ride.
There are English subtitles as the spoken language is Norwegian: th-cam.com/video/SAkZDAXJA4E/w-d-xo.html
great reaction
Musical Dynamite !!!
- The Barefoot Princess -
(From her book, television and radio interviews, and podcasts made between 2014-2015. Includes excerpts from her diary made that day in 2012.)
Why does Angelina sing barefooted?
To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.”
From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing.
✒️...this is Angelina, the barefood angel ...she sings for you, for me and the whole world! She is a history miracle! Enjoy😉
Great reaction to our barefoot princess wild bill
Hi RiverCityReactor,
even if you already got some comments with good information allow me sending you my "standard firsties comment" (SFC) - maybe you can find some for you new information in it ;-)
So, here is my SFC:
Welcome to the universe of Angelina Jordan and thanks a billion for this nice reaction to her - I'm sure to hear more reactions to her from you! ...because it is...
...too late!
From now on you are assimilated in Angelina's entourage! Resistance is futile...
Even if you won't believe it and if you are in denial about it: Only listen to one song sung by Angelina Jordan and you are hooked on listening her voice! Maybe you aren't aware of it yet... a legend says in rare cases there are humans who can resist.... but I can't believe it ;-)
Every time it's a pleasure to watch people reacting to Angelina Jordan - especially when it is the first time - and I hope to see more of your reactions on Angelina Jordan... ;-)
A little explanation:
Her cover "I put a spell on you" b/w studio version at 9yo (th-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/w-d-xo.html - btw. she made most of her cover arrangements by herself!) based on the original from Screemin' Jay Hawkins (from 1956) - Live: th-cam.com/video/7kGPhpvqtOc/w-d-xo.html
or another version of it: th-cam.com/video/orNpH6iyokI/w-d-xo.html
and here a version from 1990 in Tokyo - I feel, this is like the version Angelina has taken as the model, but I don't know it ( ;-) ): th-cam.com/video/Bb9ag8bch_U/w-d-xo.html
or as Audio-Studio-Version: th-cam.com/video/82cdnAUvsw8/w-d-xo.html)
that's real fun - if you watch this too and may be after this watch Angelinas cover again you will find out that Angelinas cover is a real tribute to Jay Hawkins :-D
At the beginning you see her something writing on a sheet and a man reading it and smiles than.. in an interview this man, who was the "bandleader", said, this were some "wishes" from Angelina (she was every time very polite he said) for changes of her arrangement for the piano :)))
The candle you can see at about 0:12 shows a portrait of J. Hawkins - I think her grandma bought it at a concert in Tokyo ;)
At 0:26 you can see the bassist smiling - I can imagine that he smiles about the expectable reactions of the listeners in the moment, when Angelina starts to sing at 0:30 ;-)
Btw. I read somewhere that her grandma was in person at a concert of SJH in Japan (as she, AJs mother and uncle lived there some years - AJs grandpa is Japanese) and there AJs grandma bought this candle as a souvenir ;)
...I hope this story isn't a HOAX :))
Maybe you wonder, what videos you should next react to ;-) ...
Btw. her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar, but in most occasions she is introduced as Angelina Jordan - she herself answered in the audition of Norske Talenter her name is "Angelina Jordan"… ;-)

1. "Song for A": th-cam.com/video/Bo3mhxPM-uA/w-d-xo.html - (there is a discussion if "A" stands for Angelina, Annie - the woman in the lyrics - or both of them ;-) - the lyrics are from a poem from Robert Burns written in 1783 ! )
2. "Above the water": th-cam.com/video/SC3F0bKKk3U/w-d-xo.html - interesting voice - even if EDM is not my preferred genre ;-)
... here her "mini concert" from AGT the Champions (Watch out: With these videos other reactors have the most problems with copyright claims...):

...and for those, who like to hear it with the audio from the rehearsal without the noise from the audience at the performance a version edited from pa1189j : th-cam.com/video/O6Jw-ETH1mA/w-d-xo.html
In the meanwhile there are some more live versions of her originals and some cover songs from her summer 2022 concerts like in Kurbadhagen... ;-)
Besides she is mostly making her very own arrangement there are some very interesting videos of her, where she uses the original arrangement or a big one of someone else like "I Have Nothing" (Whitney Houston Tribute) th-cam.com/video/eTcvvO6B3Io/w-d-xo.html or "Fly Me To The Moon" in the arrangement of Quincy Jones (rehearsal with concert mixed audio for his birthday party in the O2 arena): th-cam.com/video/OMkwoqUNNkE/w-d-xo.html .
And here is a video where it is explained (with English subtitles) why she performs barefoot: th-cam.com/video/A-OKLslO74Y/w-d-xo.html and here an Interview in the Norwegian TV (with English subtitles) from 2015 after she has published her book about the story why she is barefoot when performing: th-cam.com/video/-cCLDY0CSZ8/w-d-xo.html
In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program (I read, that this school said, they couldn't teach her more stuff because she has all learned what she could learn in this school ;-) ) - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her grandma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield").
… and see you soon with your next AJ reactions - with greetings from Berlin/Germany :-D Best regards
Andreas

Just to let you know AJ has been in the studio since 6 started on TV at age 7, won Norways got talent at 8, this is her at 9, She did many many unbelievable things at 10 -12, went on AGT at 13 in 2020 brought the house down on all 3 of her performances there (must hear) before she had to leave and currently is 17 years old and just dropped another single (visualizer) on May 5th 2023 you really need to support this one also its her own called "LOVE DONT LET ME GO"
If you haven't seen it, I did the new song right after this one
Sir, her family and since 2014, her label, protected her, so she could grow up on her own terms, not what some powerhungry, greedy industry wants.
🖒😎
