The other two are the AMAZING ONE OF A KIND very young classical and cross over Singer Amira Willighagen ,listen for example to her " la Vergine Degli Angeli version. She Will blow your socks off, and the very young WONDERFULL violinist, pianist and composer Alma Deutcher. At 8 years Young she already wrote her first opera for a HUGE orchestra. I know i know, there are many more REALLY COOL and AWESOME talents World wide, but these 3 for me are the Cherry,s on the cakes ,all 3 in their own field .

Lady luck I am 69 years old, so I’ve been around for a little while and I’ve heard them all including Ma, Billy, and all the rest and I can honestly say that any and all of them would be honored and starstruck to perform with Angelina if they had experienced her. We in the here and now are so privileged to be blessed with this once in 100 or 200+ years talent that comes along so rarely. I feel this is no exaggeration whatsoever. We should not miss out enjoying her while she is here.
Her grandmother played blues and jazz music since she was little and that together with the type of voice she has is what produces this prodigy. It is one of the reasons why her grandmother comes out so much in her videos, she is very close to her and is always with her.

I grew up in the 60's and 70's and I heard many of the great singers that people still honor till this day and I can honestly say that Angelina Jordan is right there with the best of them. If she was able to display all of that at the age of 9,the sky's the limit. I think the ultimate compliment was that of Quincy Jones,who said,Angelina Jordan was the best child performer he'd seen since Michael Jackson.

When you start singing at 1.5 yo like Angelina, you become a living legend at the age of 9. You know how blessed we are that she will be giving us gifts after gifts for many decades to come.
Whether the age here was 8 or 9, you have to take into account the fact that she
actually arranged this herself, having the orchestra so impressed they referred to
her as 'The Boss'. Forget the 'Screamin' Jay Hawkin's version, for she takes this to
a different level of complexity and overall presentation. If you didn't view the video,
there's no way you would believe the singer was this young.

Angie said it in an interview a year later (when she was around 10 at interview) about this song: “It means love Desperate love. It's very special, it's almost voodoo. The original is very nice, and when I scream it is a desperate cry that everyone should love each other.” -AJ.
Angie watched the original of this song by Screaming Jay Hawkins from 1956 (the guy on the candle) A year later at 10, she would sing the demo, "I'm still holding out for you".

@My_Time: Hope you don't mind a small but important correction ... this was not filmed by grandma Mery ... Per Heimly, a well-known Norwegian photographer, directed it. I've never seen the actual cinematographer credited. Mery did film the 'desert with horse' acoustic version of FMTTM you mention, a year later when Angelina was 10. The final sequence showing Angelina framed in silhouette against the moon, was also used in the fan-made video that appeared with the 'leaked' demo of Baby Fuzz' 'I'm Still Holding Out For You', also recorded when Angelina was aged 10. She tours and has made millions for charity. I'm not sure if you know why she sings barefoot. She meet a young girl her age who was selling trinkets or something for a living on the street and had no shoe's. She struck up a conversation and asked what she would like to be when she grew up. The girl replied a Doctor, but didn't think she would make it. Angelina gave her, her shoes and has vowed to sing barefoot till all children have shoes. I believe she speaks other languages as she sang a number of her covers in Japanese when touring Japan. And as she plays numerous instruments besides piano I wouldn't rule anything language wise where she is concerned.
Guess I didn’t know what I was looking to find, because I listened to half a dozen Ma Rainey songs and did not hear the growl.

I hadn't thought of Ma Rainey, but, yeah, I can hear that. Vocal coach / voice teacher Valerie White Williams of Vocal Splendor Studios said in her reaction to this performance that she was reminded of Bessie Smith (1894-1937), which is definitely along the same lines as Ma Rainey (1886-1939). (Interestingly, Bessie actually started out as a dancer in the same touring company that Ma Rainey was singing with.) They were both singing and recording blues at the very dawn of recorded popular music (early 1920s). I would imagine that the "shouting" style of both was influenced at least somewhat by the limitations of the audio technology of the time. Here, a 9-year-old Norwegian girl in a 21st century recording studio could be channeling either one (in addition to the original writer and singer of the song, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, of course).
People like to bring up reincarnation when they talk about Angelina, and many have said that she has an "old soul". The problem is, both ideas imply that only one soul has been reborn in a new body. Angelina seems to have *all* the legends of the past within her. (You came really close to saying the same thing when you said, "Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, and Etta James live in her throat rent free".) Or, as I once put it in a slightly more "secular" way (?), "Maybe she's not a reincarnation at all. Maybe she is, in fact, the _incarnation_ of something universal that every great singer of the past has tapped into." 🤔

Considering the amount of time it'd take to gather the band, gather the video-equipment and personnel... then the recording studio and all of those folks. Plus the financing for this video! I'll bet it took more than 2 months, and she and ALL PARTIES INVOLVED had to agree to do THIS song. Then rehearsals. Trials. What to use. Get her Grandmother in-studio, too... the same grandmother that will do artwork in some videos, make AJ's 'costumes' like the colorful outfit for AGT's BOHEMIAN-! Yeah, I'll bet she was at the end of her 8th Year when this production started to take shape.
Aah naw Ollie Angelina works at a faster pace than that. You underestimate her child prodigy powers. She writes arranges, plays piano, guitar, flute and violin. Those men call her the Boss. She will correct an entire orchestra if she has to in the most polite way but she is 💯 professional. In time she will be addresses as Queen.

I think you would really get a kick out of watching a 10 yr old Angelina during a jam session with some amazing jazz musicians. She does a rendition of Screamin' Jay Hawkins ( I put a spell on you) , "Portrait of a child( ENHANCED VERSION)" ,Which was originally titled, Portrait of Man. A great behind the scenes look at just how knowledgeable Angelina is.

It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl (yes, she is 9yo here, not 8, as if that somehow explains anything!) can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this!
"I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock-rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video).
You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the arrangement based after listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight on how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with the same band at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and gives them some instructions. She always knows exactly what she is doing. This rehearsal video with a jazz band behind her on stage where she is not happy with the arrangement, the tempo is too fast and they are playing too loud to hear her voice. Watch the disgruntled looks on her face until the band finally gets it where she wants and becomes content with their playing. It's amazing to see an 8 year old with this much professionalism! I've been listening to Angelina non-stop, and with various reviewers, but I just discovered you. You are a riot! So much fun to watch you! And you are right on - Ma Rainey et al, and she is otherworldly! One guy watching her for the first time at 8 saw her bare feet and he said, yes, she has to be barefoot to feel the ground beneath her. With shoes, her soul would not be able to connect this way. I know it is not the reason she gives for singing barefoot, but it is also true!
You have just witnessed Angie's most viral video of her earlier years. I believe it is also the most profound performance ever recorded by a 9-year-old! As you said, true jazz and Blues. You should check out the original by Screamin Jay Hawkins. His picture was on the mug at the beginning of the video. You may have seen Angelina hand the director a sheet of paper at the beginning. Those were her directions for the arrangement! And of course, she performed it barefoot. Great job Lady Luck.

Lady luck I know how you feel. Everyone feels the same way and says the same thing. How? It's not just the quality of her voice. She sings with an emotional sincerity, and especially at 8 years old, that requires a person to have lived through life's experiences to gain that perspective. But we know with her age that's impossible to have happen. So, I reach for explanations. Some say she's not of this world jokingly. I say reincarnation or possession in a nice way of course.
