Hi Andrew, thank you for the kind comments. Yes, fishing to us is very much a passion. Hopefully this year we will try and improve on the sound quality.
Wow!!!! ❤🇨🇦🍻🇨🇦❤ Just subscribed. Here on the pacific west coast of Canada, we have no lobster...looks like fun!! Cheers 🍻 Scottish blood myself....I wondered about the lingo ❤
Hi, thank you for the comment. There are plenty of lobsters, however they are a little in the small size. It is an indication of overfishing however with fishermen respecting sustainable fishing practices now, we hope the future looks brighter
Very cool video. Would love to see what you’d be catching with a larger trap and more/different bait. Everyone has their theories but for us I think if you aren’t stringing fish on we’re guaranteed to be catching less
Hi Evergreen, thanks for the comment/feedback. We will make some larger traps and film the process. I have no doubt the bigger the trap, the more you would catch. We will test this theory next year with larger traps and more bait. Do you fish? And if so what size of trap do you use? Thanks again
@ thanks for the reply! yes I fish for lobster year round out of the state of Maine in the US. Most of our traps are 54 inches but we have some 5 footers also. I see you guys supply Aquamesh. I can attest that it’s some of the best wire for sure! Bigger might not always be better if you’re fishing in the rocks, I’d just like to see what this fella could catch with larger traps and maybe some rockfish, or monkfish, or pig hide and pogies (menhaden), or a bag full of fresh herring with a redfish strung on etc. Different times of year and in different places we’ll use more or less bait depending on what’s going on. Personally I like the bait to be ate up somewhat, not gone, but I’ve noticed if you put too much in they’ll make the traps fish too slow most of the time Hey, have you guys ever had issues with certain batches of traps not fishing well right off the bat? We’ve randomly had batches of wire (all types, not necessarily one brand) that took months before they fished like the should. Exact same style, other traps right next to em fishing great. The only thing I’ve come up with is maybe certain batches have some sort of oil or something from the machines that make the wire? Idk it’s weird. Their are even certain guys here that’ll buy hundreds of traps ahead of time and leave them out in their yard for a year to hopefully avoid this
I’m the camera man filming for The Legend👍 your correct with shooting pots we use the term pots traps or creels trying to encompass all parts of the globe.
Yes it is catching on and very hard wearing wire. The best on the market without a doubt. Blue lobster fishing ltd are the stockist for Aquamesh in the UK and Ireland. If you want prebuilt creels/ traps/ pots we supply them as well as all the tooling to manufacture your own. Thanks for the comment.
Hi Scot, the wire has been around a while but we are using 10.5 gauge Aquamesh wire which is a thicker gauge than normal. This should not to be mixed up with other wires on the market. We would be more than happy to show you the creel designs with extra strengthening and weight. We have had excellent feed back from both the skipper shows in Ireland and Aberdeen.
Thanks for the comment. Yes it’s just the start of the season. Hopefully things pick up towards the back end of the season. Yes it is awesome place to go Lobstering. 👍👍👍

Thanks for the great comment and the support. Blue lobster fishing takes every precaution and safety measure possible. Blue Lobster Fishing is audited by MCA and Scotland fisheries. Ewen the owner of the boat, is the worker in question. He is also a Driller on one of the most advanced semi submersible oil rigs in the world where Safety standards are of an exceptional level Your point about the ropes is a valid point but every precaution is taken to prevent being dragged over the side. 50 year waves there’s no coming back from that one. The cheeky comment about diving gear was unnecessary and very bad taste. Blue Lobster LSD will try to keep our channel upbeat, positive, and informative. This is Ewen’s coworker who was HSE for 10 years on a floating semi submersible in the Norwegian Sea. Fishing is a dangerous occupation or in Ewen’s case a hobby. We plan to continue working to a high safety standard, in which our day job has prepared and trained us well. Stay safe and be positive. 👍

Thanks for the comment. Yes it is unfortunate, however they are under size or berried (with eggs). We will catch a lot more towards the back end of the season which is end of July, August & September. Hopefully we can get some good footage. Most of the footage we have unloaded so far was filmed on the same day.

One day your fellow lobstermen are Gona prank ya with some rubber ducks 😂
They might be worth more than the lobsters ha ha
That would be funny and great 🎭
Wishing I was having one for dinner!
We could post one but I don’t think the post man would like the smell.
Does it matter which way the pots land on the sea bed when you return them to the sea 22:22
No not really only if it lands on the entrance for the lobsters to go in
It definitely matters. If they land upside down or on their sides they either wont fish at all or at least much less efficiently
The way they are attached almost ensures they will land correctly. The professionals know what they are doing.
It’s very hard work . Stay safe God Bless you
Thanks for the great comment and it’s all about staying safe and right back at yi 👍👍👍👍

How can you afford gas with 1 lobster every 10 pots
Fishing for the love not the money! No, genuinely enjoy it and in it for the long game.

Please note that nobody is on deck when shooting the gear over the side. Safe fishing everyone.
