His little girl was to cute the way she called out its daddy! He seems like a great guy and great dad! Much love for all you hard working fisherman out there
My Grandad was a North Shields Trawler skipper, learning his trade before the war. At 18 on the first North Shields trawler to make it to the Faroe Islands fishing grounds. Tough man indeed.
I actually appreciate the swearing not being " bleeped " out , just drives me crazy having some stupid sound effect ( like a seagull call ) over every profanity. . The skipper has every right to say a few " bad " words finding out other boats are fishing his spots !
GOOD FOR YOU ANDY 46 YRS OLD NEVER NEVER LET YOUR MIND AND YOUR BODY GIVE UP 🤔. I AM 67 YRS OLD ALL MY LIFE HAS BEEN HARD PHYSICAL JOBS. (retired now and can still ride my mountain on the trails in the Caribou of B C Canada 🍁)
@@simonm7375 They complain about the Gillnetters the same way here in BC, Canada, where we fish for salmon. I tell them the same thing. It's a very selective way to fish by species and size.
Too cumbersome to work in. I'm a commercial fisherman you'll never get out of an overturned boat with one on,,,even if the cold water will kill you in minutes
@darhhorsejames IF YOU ARE A UK COMMERCIAL FISHERMAN, YOU WILL OF BEEN INFORMED ON YOUR SEA SURVIVAL COURSE, THAT YOU MUST WEAR A PFD OR SAFETY HARNESS ON A UK COMMERCIAL FISHING BOAT... £500 FINES HAVE BE ISSUED TO CREW NOT WEARING PFD'S, THEN THE SKIPPER AND OWNER RECEIVE LARGE FINES ALSO... STAY SAFE
PFDs aren't worn in enclosed spaces. Should be worn when on the shelter but sometimes when yr just quickly throwing the hook, it's easy to forget. That said, the industry in general is wearing pfds a lot more.
It wasn't about the money. He'd just finished his funded courses and it was about the experience, getting a taste of the job. An extra responsibility for the boys to have on deck. So it was just a gesture from the boys, not a wage. The wages come when you start as a half share till you know the job, the hunger to earn a full share is the motivation to get up to speed and be of use.
That was unreal just like being there in my head Heaps better than Sig Hanson and that prick Keith take on the world even worst is wild bill probably the most hated captain on the bearing sea

The(coffin dodger )comment had me rolling.The guy is 44.Good lord I’m a 53 !
He wasn't 44, we got to 46 at one point but who really knows. 😂😂
You can hand steer you know? In Australia auto pilots only came in the 70s. Before that it was all hand steering
Yes and if we were at sea we'd have carried on, being just a few miles out of the Quay is a different story. Hand steering gets old very quickly 😂😂
@@simonm7375 It's not the worst thing that can happen to you at sea. :)
Gill nets...no comment .
What do you mean?
@dennisthemenace57 Emense damage to wildlife and other fishermen
They are surprisingly selective in species and size. And its static gear so low impact to the sea bed.

These blokes work so hard for absolutely awful pay, never realised how shit fishermen were paid
You say that many so called auld men do this job and good at it experience every time
That’s £166.66p a day!!..
And the green horn got £33.33p a day!!.. that’s not worth the reward/risk
I started in 1990 here in Ireland on 10 punts a day ,had to work my way up the ladder..
WHY ARE NO ONE WEARING PFD'S
