So one thing i really messed up here is the "certain incident" that involved Kozaburo leaving the country. That took place 55 years ago, and the incident with Orochi's grandfather happened right before Sukiyaki was born. Oden was born 59 years ago which meant that Sukiyaki would probably be in his 20's when Kozaburo left. Meaning it had to be some other "incident" that resulted in his departure from Wano.
My guess is that Zoro is descended from Ushimaru and not from Kozaburo. If he’s descended from Kozaburo or his grandfather, that makes him related to kuina. Which makes the whole Zoro x Tashigi (someone who looks like his cousin) hinted subplot very gross. If he’s descended from Ushimaru on the other hand, that makes him either unrelated or much more distantly related to kuina. Also he looks a lot more like ushimaru than he does like kozaburo. This whole thing regardless gives him some sort of duty to the country of wano, so he might feel compelled to help the citizens even more. And even more so since Yasu traveled with him, and this makes Yasu somehow related to him. Bruh Zoro might be Toko’s cousin.

I'm just imagining if Zoro was from Wano... His mom "Zorojuro, is that you?! Where have you been all this time?" Zoro casually explains he just went for a walk, before the shock sets in and he realizes he's from Wano. Him and all other Straw Hats get that slack jaw face together Sanji then kicks him, exclaiming "We know you have no sense of direction, but this is taking it too far, mosshead!"
He will just se his grandmother and say "hey granny sup" and show the gang to her and asks for some family food and act like he left home yesterday while everyone is like "the hell? are you from here!?! and why are you so casual about meeting with you family again after all this time!?!"(sorry for my bad english)
Also his vibrant hair fits with the colour story of Wano. It always stuck out to me 🤔 But Oda always knew Zoro was Japanese, so I think it was a pointer to his lineage all this time.
There's one more missing piece you didn't mention: the Sandai Kitetsu. The sword seller in Loguetown said it had been passed down through his family, and Loguetown is also where we first meet Smoker and Tashigi. Maybe the other Shimotsuki relative that came on the ship to the east blue ended up settling in Loguetown and that's where Tashigi grew up? She could even be like Zoro's first cousin or something.
Pretty sure Zoro just got lost from home as a kid, started picking fights, learns how to use a sword and then he just fought dojos. Makes sense to me. Heck, he could have been born in Shimotsuki and just wandered off for a few weeks until he came back
Funny, even as a kid something felt wrong about Kuina's death. Even before all the theories about it her father always looked like a villain to me, I feel like Oda draws him with a certain malice in his eyes and smile.
The thing is Zoro will never disrespect meaning he won't call his master old guy, that would be disrespectful coming from Zoro. So it would be obvious he wasn't talking about his master

I have mixed feelings when it comes to learning about Zoro's heritage. On one hand we know very little about the guy even though he's been around since the very start. On the other I kind of like the angle that Zoro's is s=just a typical dude who became a human monster.

In Bleach it always annoyed me that Kenpachi as a little kid was able to best a captain like Unohana.. much less one of the strongest captains in the history of Soul Society. This just makes me wonder even more how Bartolomeo's and Bon clay's fruits got to the East Blue. Since Kaido killed Kurozumi Higurashi (user of clone clone fruit) 20 years ago when he fought Odin, it must mean at least once another ship went from wano to the East Blue in the past 20 years. Bon clay is 32 in the current story and Barto is 24. we don't know when they each ate their fruits, but for Bon Clay it is at the earliest when he was 12. So he might remember the people from wano if he got the fruit from them directly. The most interesting about this is that after Odin died and Orochi/Kaido took over, at least one ship still managed to leave wano. Probably because of kaido and Orochi ofcourse, but for some reason these people managed to find the devilfruits that helped Orochi the most in his plot, take them away from him and Kaido, and actually escaped wano. And all of this after the battle was lost, Odin had died and all of wano knew they had lost, so not many people would still want to try something. They might have gone to the East because they knew Kozaburo had gone there, but that would suggest that Kozaburo already knew he would end up in the East, which seems unlikely since wano is closed off. Is there something connecting to wano in the East blue? maybe from even before Kozaburo? Why do both these groups of people end up in the East blue more than 30 years apart? I feel this could be something to at least think about. \ Let me know what you guys think pls! i only have anime watchers around so I cant discuss this with anyone else.. (Edit: just thought that maybe Shanks could play into this story in some way, since he also brought luffy's fruit to the East blue, but i haven't thought it through yet)

As much as I like the "Certain Incident" idea, I don't think the math quite adds up. If Kouzaburo left 55 years ago because of the Kurozumi betrayal than Sukiyaki could be assumed to also be born 55 years ago right? Which would have been a totally reasonable age if not for the 20 year jump, meaning he would have only been in his early 30's when he died.
And it is interesting that both Hitetsu and Kouzaborou collaborated to create swords specifically for Oden. So basically Kouzaboro after giving Enma to Oden, he took his other sword plus Sandai Kitetsu which was made by Hitetsu into east blue but he dropped the Sandai in logue town before arriving to Shimotsuki village

So, was reading One Piece with someone recently (We decided to read instead of watch since easier to marathon), and they made me realize something about Kuina's death. There's a chance that "falling down the stairs" was a cover for domestic abuse. I hope that's not the case... but in the Manga, we BARELY got any of Koshiro's reaction to Kuina's death. Even at the big moment where Zoro asks for her sword, he was just like, "K." Though something less disturbing to think about. In the Manga, Zoro was a two sword style user as a kid. As cute as the Anime was with the billion sword style, there's a chance that Zoro learned two sword style first. It's easy to consider him a rebel, but now that we're learning that he learned outside the Dojo... two sword style might play an important role later.
This theory is interesting, but I have a different one ! I really want to believe her death was not a stupid staircase accident... What if Orochi, wanting to suppress every potential threat to his rule, heard of this remote Shimotsuki village somehow, and sent assassins to eliminate Koshiro and every Shimotsuki related people... But Kuina surprised them and they threw her in the staircase before fleeing the scene. Everyone would believe the accident theory, end of the story ! Yeah, I really don't want to believe she was killed by a stupid staircase... But your theory is cool as well and would be fine by me if Oda decided that !
Interesting and actually kind of believable, but I always imagined it was suicide. I mean, she was clearly depressed and pushed to the side for doing what she loved by her own father! I think she and Koushiro fought often about her training to become a swordswoman were he refused to train her because of gender and being overly protective. when in an hotheaded debate, it seems plausible that she'd throw herself down the stairs and taking her own life. This might also be why Koushiro seems more calm when thinking about Zoro after the incident, since Zoro carries on his daughter which he failed to do.
@@vladimirberbatov1469 Actually that assassin theory makes sense. I've heard two translations of Kuina's death: 1.) The stairs (I think that was 4Kids so it doesn't count) and 2.) A student that wanted revenge for losing to Kuina came back and killed her. If The stairs weren't a cover for abuse (cause he wanted a son? Replace her with Zoro?) then I see that as possible. What if, that this incident was the kurozumi-hunt, and maybe Zoro ancestor was a "good" kurozumi who had to run because of his name. And some of his friends (among other also Kozaburo) were going with him. That would also be the reason zoro's lastname is not kurozumi, because his people wanted the name not anymore.

You make a good point about the number of Shimotsuki's that left 55 years ago. I know we're all wondering about Zoro's origins, but something tells me he's going to end up being a Kurozumi instead of a Shimotsuki. Feels like something Oda would do. We have to assume that not EVERY Kurozumi was in on the coup attempt, some had to be innocent. Some were more than likely friends with Kouzabaro, hitched a ride on the ship to avoid being killed and ended up changing their name to avoid being persecuted any further. This feels very reminiscent of the Uchiha massacre, where Sasuke was innocent and spared, vs the entirety of the clan being slaughtered.

The path of the father was made in a way that she wouldn't be able to proceed, she could've made her own path by different techniques or using some fruit but not brute force and swordsmanship. In the middle of this sentence I remember that it was about the dojo, she was completely able to teach, her technic was perfect, you don't need to be strong to pass and make knowledge.

Hey Tekking, I got an idea while u were talking about Tashigi and her relations to Kuina. What if, the East Blue Woman who was the wife to Kouzaburo Shimotsuki was at first, like a slave woman to the leader of the mountain bandits who was raiding the town he saved. While fighting the bandits, Kouzaburo defeated the bandit leader, saved the woman who he would later fall in love with, however, before this incident, the woman already had a child with the bandit leader. This child is Tashigi. Tashigi would later be able to run away from the bandits and find her way to a marine base. This past would give a reason why Tashigi would be in the Marines. Also, Tashigi wants to bring in all the renowned swords from criminals. This dream might spur from the fact that mountain bandits, in the east, are normally seen with swords. They have a lot of them. So Tashigi might want to collect all the swords from the criminals to prevent anything like her past to happen again. It was just an idea I came up with while u were talking about Tashigi. Sorry for this long comment.
I feel like you specifically designed this tree to avoid having Zoro and Tashigi in the same bloodline. Its completely possible that Tashigi is the "cousin" of Kuina, like born to the sister of Koushirou if he had one. It's never stated, but that would prevent the need for a reason for the "East Blue Woman" to re-mary.
Here's how it is going to happen: Denjiro will tell a story of how his father and twin brother left from Wano to escape the Korozumi and something happened and he was left behind. His father and brother were presumed dead and he became an orphan. Maybe he will recognize the Wado from Zoro and Zoro will tell him that they survived and what happened to them after. I still kind of hope that Tashigi is Denjiro's daughter somehow... but it would be a huge coincidence that she ended up in the east as well so I'm a bit torn... Maybe Denjiro got Tashigi's pregnant mother out of Wano to escape Orochi and sent them to the east in search of his brother, but that's a bit of a stretch idk

Thats like a 30 difference. So unless kozuburos wife had a baby eith a different man i highly doubt that certain girl is tashigis mom

Sure, the strongest woman is stronger than the average man, but the strongest man is stronger than her (statistically speaking, women are just over half as strong as men in their upper bodies, and about two-thirds as strong in their lower bodies). Based on that undeniable fact Koshiro told Kuina she couldn't make it. If anything, he was being objective. Yes, Kuina could have become the strongest woman in history, but if even one of the top 50 strongest men contemporary to her pursued swordfighting, she would have been screwed. Did she have chances to become the strongest swordfighter? Sure. But the odds were completely against her. Even if she got to Mihawk way past his peak, there is Zoro, 2 years younger than her, as the prime example of someone she would not be able to defeat once they got to their physical prime. Of course, she could master technique and be an incredible competent swordfighter, but Mihawk (among others, like Shanks) has mastered both technique and strength, and so will Zoro, reaching a strength peak she would never be able to get. Acknowledging physical reality is not being sexist, men and women are physically different. And it goes beyond boobs or dicks/pussies. With the information we have received so far on Shimotsuki Kouzaburo. So Shimotsuki Kouzaburo left Wano 55 years ago, made it to the EB, helped a little village that was being raided by bandits. The people of the village probably made Kouzaburo the chief. He fell in love with a *“certain”* woman, started the Isshin Dojo. A year or two later, he had Koushirou. The village slowly grew into a town. Kouzaburo probably named it Shimotsuki out of respects for the Shimotsuki Clan or even for Ryuma. Here’s a little head cannon of mine. Kouzaburo told Koushirou about the history of Wano when he was younger. Probably even told him how to get there and how to enter it. Since Kouzaburo was a well known swordsmith, he would’ve had an insignia of his own. Every time a swordsmith finished making a sword, he would stampeded his insignia onto that sword. I think he could’ve passed the insignia onto Koushirou. He also taught him the way of the sword. Maybe when Koushirou was in his late teens to early 20s, he decided I want to visit Wano. He sets out on a journey to Wano. Along the way, the ship he was on stopped at several islands to get supplies for the journey. Lets say one of those island just happened to be Drum Island, where Koushirou met the island looney, Hiluluk. Who’s always doing mischievous things and this is probably when Hiluluk started experiencing that illness of his. They hang out at bar and talk. Koushirou could have told Hiluluk about Wano. When it was time for Koushirou to leave DI. He either asked Hiluluk to join him or Hiluluk could have left the island without telling anyone and stayed on the ship as a stowaway. When the ship finally arrived at Habu Port, which is in the Hakumai region. Koushirou could’ve gotten into Wano by showing his father’s insignia. As the cargo holder was being unloaded, they found Hiluluk. Remember, Wano have very strict rules about the citizens leaving the country and foreigners entering it. He was caught and thrown into prison. When Koushirou found out about Hiluluk situation. He requested a meeting with Shimotsuki Yasuie, who is the daimyo of Hakumai. Koushirou puts in a few words for Hiluluk and he was released from prison. Hiluluk was still forced to work, but not as a prisoner or slave. He have to earned his stay in Wano. Maybe on one of his day off, he went sightseeing, he made to the top of a hill. What he saw in front of him were the most beautifulest thing he have ever seen, *SAKURA!* We all know what happened from there. I wonder how he got back to DI, maybe eternal pose? If Zoro does have some kind of connection to the Shimotsuki Clan. It’s probably from his mom side, which she received the last name from her father, who is Zoro’s grandfather. Zoro’s father last name is probably Roronoa. Children usually receive their father last name. Unless you’re someone who despises his father so much that you take your mother last name for what she did for you. 🤔, I wonder who could that be? Tashigi could have two possibilities. One just like Tekking said, Kouzaburo wife had Tashigi from a previous relationship. Two, when Kouzaburo left Wano, he didn’t go by himself. He was probably traveling with siblings, a brother or a sister or both. When the ship that they were on reached the EB, it probably stopped at multiple islands. Kouzaburo’s brother or sister could’ve gotten off at one of those island. They found ❤️, settled down and have kids, one of those children could’ve been Tashigi. if that’s true, then Kuina and Tashigi are cousin. Denjiro is going to be a doozy one. Once again like Tekking said, Kouzaburo could had visited a brothel. Had some fun and left Wano before finding out that one of the woman was pregnant. It’s not uncommon back then for women that works at brothel to abandoned their baby, if they want to keep having clients. Kouzaburo left Wano 55 years ago. We got introduced to Denjiro 41 years ago during Oden flashbacks, he was an orphan in the streets swindling people. That’s 14 years in between, Denjiro looks about that age. What about Shimotsuki Ushimaru? I am not even going to try.

There's one more missing piece you didn't mention: the Sandai Kitetsu. Maybe the other Shimotsuki relative that came on the ship to the east blue ended up settling in Loguetown and that's where Tashigi grew up? She could even be like Zoro's first cousin or something.

Funny, even as a kid something felt wrong about Kuina's death. Even before all the theories about it her father always looked like a villain to me, I feel like Oda draws him with a certain malice in his eyes and smile.

I have mixed feelings when it comes to learning about Zoro's heritage. On one hand we know very little about the guy even though he's been around since the very start. On the other I kind of like the angle that Zoro's is s=just a typical dude who became a human monster.

In Bleach it always annoyed me that Kenpachi as a little kid was able to best a captain like Unohana.. much less one of the strongest captains in the history of Soul Society. I just think that is poor writing.

This just makes me wonder even more how Bartolomeo's and Bon clay's fruits got to the East Blue.
Since Kaido killed Kurozumi Higurashi (user of clone clone fruit) 20 years ago when he fought Odin, it must mean at least once another ship went from wano to the East Blue in the past 20 years. Bon clay is 32 in the current story and Barto is 24. we don't know when they each ate their fruits, but for Bon Clay it is at the earliest when he was 12. So he might remember the people from wano if he got the fruit from them directly.
The most interesting about this is that after Odin died and Orochi/Kaido took over, at least one ship still managed to leave wano. Probably because of kaido and Orochi ofcourse, but for some reason these people managed to find the devilfruits that helped Orochi the most in his plot, take them away from him and Kaido, and actually escaped wano. And all of this after the battle was lost, Odin had died and all of wano knew they had lost, so not many people would still want to try something.
They might have gone to the East because they knew Kozaburo had gone there, but that would suggest that Kozaburo already knew he would end up in the East, which seems unlikely since wano is closed off.
Is there something connecting to wano in the East blue? maybe from even before Kozaburo?
Why do both these groups of people end up in the East blue more than 30 years apart?
I feel this could be something to at least think about. \

As much as I like the "Certain Incident" idea, I don't think the math quite adds up. If Kouzaburo left 55 years ago because of the Kurozumi betrayal than Sukiyaki could be assumed to also be born 55 years ago right? Which would have been a totally reasonable age if not for the 20 year jump, meaning he would have only been in his early 30's when he died.

So basically Kouzaboro after giving Enma to Oden, he took his other sword plus Sandai Kitetsu which was made by Hitetsu into east blue but he dropped the Sandai in logue town before arriving to Shimotsuki village

So, was reading One Piece with someone recently (We decided to read instead of watch since easier to marathon), and they made me realize something about Kuina's death. There's a chance that "falling down the stairs" was a cover for domestic abuse. I hope that's not the case... but in the Manga, we BARELY got any of Koshiro's reaction to Kuina's death. Even at the big moment where Zoro asks for her sword, he was just like, "K."
Though something less disturbing to think about. In the Manga, Zoro was a two sword style user as a kid. As cute as the Anime was with the billion sword style, there's a chance that Zoro learned two sword style first. It's easy to consider him a rebel, but now that we're learning that he learned outside the Dojo... two sword style might play an important role later.
This theory is interesting, but I have a different one ! I really want to believe her death was not a stupid staircase accident... What if Orochi, wanting to suppress every potential threat to his rule, heard of this remote Shimotsuki village somehow, and sent assassins to eliminate Koshiro and every Shimotsuki related people... But Kuina surprised them and they threw her in the staircase before fleeing the scene. Everyone would believe the accident theory, end of the story ! Yeah, I really don't want to believe she was killed by a stupid staircase... But your theory is cool as well and would be fine by me if Oda decided that !
Interesting and actually kind of believable, but I always imagined it was suicide. I mean, she was clearly depressed and pushed to the side for doing what she loved by her own father! I think she and Koushiro fought often about her training to become a swordswoman were he refused to train her because of gender and being overly protective. when in an hotheaded debate, it seems plausible that she'd throw herself down the stairs and taking her own life. This might also be why Koushiro seems more calm when thinking about Zoro after the incident, since Zoro carries on his daughter which he failed to do.

You make a good point about the number of Shimotsuki's that left 55 years ago. I know we're all wondering about Zoro's origins, but something tells me he's going to end up being a Kurozumi instead of a Shimotsuki. Feels like something Oda would do.
We have to assume that not EVERY Kurozumi was in on the coup attempt, some had to be innocent. Some were more than likely friends with Kouzabaro, hitched a ride on the ship to avoid being killed and ended up changing their name to avoid being persecuted any further. This feels very reminiscent of the Uchiha massacre, where Sasuke was innocent and spared, vs the entirety of the clan being slaughtered.

Hey Tekking, I got an idea while u were talking about Tashigi and her relations to Kuina. What if, the East Blue Woman who was the wife to Kouzaburo Shimotsuki was at first, like a slave woman to the leader of the mountain bandits who was raiding the town he saved. While fighting the bandits, Kouzaburo defeated the bandit leader, saved the woman who he would later fall in love with, however, before this incident, the woman already had a child with the bandit leader. This child is Tashigi. Tashigi would later be able to run away from the bandits and find her way to a marine base. This past would give a reason why Tashigi would be in the Marines. Also, Tashigi wants to bring in all the renowned swords from criminals. This dream might spur from the fact that mountain bandits, in the east, are normally seen with swords. They have a lot of them. So Tashigi might want to collect all the swords from the criminals to prevent anything like her past to happen again. It was just an idea I came up with while u were talking about Tashigi. Sorry for this long comment.
I feel like you specifically designed this tree to avoid having Zoro and Tashigi in the same bloodline. Its completely possible that Tashigi is the "cousin" of Kuina, like born to the sister of Koushirou if he had one. It's never stated, but that would prevent the need for a reason for the "East Blue Woman" to re-mary.
Here's how it is going to happen: Denjiro will tell a story of how his father and twin brother left from Wano to escape the Korozumi and something happened and he was left behind. His father and brother were presumed dead and he became an orphan. Maybe he will recognize the Wado from Zoro and Zoro will tell him that they survived and what happened to them after. I still kind of hope that Tashigi is Denjiro's daughter somehow... but it would be a huge coincidence that she ended up in the east as well so I'm a bit torn... Maybe Denjiro got Tashigi's pregnant mother out of Wano to escape Orochi and sent them to the east in search of his brother, but that's a bit of a stretch idk

Yes, Kuina could have become the strongest woman in history, but if even one of the top 50 strongest men contemporary to her pursued swordfighting, she would have been screwed. Did she have chances to become the strongest swordfighter? Sure. But the odds were completely against her. Even if she got to Mihawk way past his peak, there is Zoro, 2 years younger than her, as the prime example of someone she would not be able to defeat once they got to their physical prime. Of course, she could master technique and be an incredible competent swordfighter, but Mihawk (among others, like Shanks) has mastered both technique and strength, and so will Zoro, reaching a strength peak she would never be able to get.

With the information we have received so far on Shimotsuki Kouzaburo. So Shimotsuki Kouzaburo left Wano 55 years ago, made it to the EB, helped a little village that was being raided by bandits. The people of the village probably made Kouzaburo the chief. He fell in love with a *“certain”* woman, started the Isshin Dojo. A year or two later, he had Koushirou. The village slowly grew into a town. Kouzaburo probably named it Shimotsuki out of respects for the Shimotsuki Clan or even for Ryuma.
Here’s a little head cannon of mine. Kouzaburo told Koushirou about the history of Wano when he was younger. Probably even told him how to get there and how to enter it. Since Kouzaburo was a well known swordsmith, he would’ve had an insignia of his own. Every time a swordsmith finished making a sword, he would stampeded his insignia onto that sword. I think he could’ve passed the insignia onto Koushirou. He also taught him the way of the sword. Maybe when Koushirou was in his late teens to early 20s, he decided I want to visit Wano. He sets out on a journey to Wano. Along the way, the ship he was on stopped at several islands to get supplies for the journey. Lets say one of those island just happened to be Drum Island, where Koushirou met the island looney, Hiluluk. Who’s always doing mischievous things and this is probably when Hiluluk started experiencing that illness of his.
They hang out at bar and talk. Koushirou could have told Hiluluk about Wano. When it was time for Koushirou to leave DI. He either asked Hiluluk to join him or Hiluluk could have left the island without telling anyone and stayed on the ship as a stowaway. When the ship finally arrived at Habu Port, which is in the Hakumai region. Koushirou could’ve gotten into Wano by showing his father’s insignia. As the cargo holder was being unloaded, they found Hiluluk.
Remember, Wano have very strict rules about the citizens leaving the country and foreigners entering it. He was caught and thrown into prison. When Koushirou found out about Hiluluk situation. He requested a meeting with Shimotsuki Yasuie, who is the daimyo of Hakumai. Koushirou puts in a few words for Hiluluk and he was released from prison. Hiluluk was still forced to work, but not as a prisoner or slave. He have to earned his stay in Wano. Maybe on one of his day off, he went sightseeing, he made to the top of a hill. What he saw in front of him were the most beautifulest thing he have ever seen, *SAKURA!* We all know what happened from there. I wonder how he got back to DI, maybe eternal pose?
If Zoro does have some kind of connection to the Shimotsuki Clan. It’s probably from his mom side, which she received the last name from her father, who is Zoro’s grandfather. Zoro’s father last name is probably Roronoa. Children usually receive their father last name. Unless you’re someone who despises his father so much that you take your mother last name for what she did for you. 🤔, I wonder who could that be?
Tashigi could have two possibilities. One just like Tekking said, Kouzaburo wife had Tashigi from a previous relationship. Two, when Kouzaburo left Wano, he didn’t go by himself. He was probably traveling with siblings, a brother or a sister or both. When the ship that they were on reached the EB, it probably stopped at multiple islands. Kouzaburo’s brother or sister could’ve gotten off at one of those island. They found ❤️, settled down and have kids, one of those children could’ve been Tashigi. if that’s true, then Kuina and Tashigi are cousin.
Denjiro is going to be a doozy one. Once again like Tekking said, Kouzaburo could had visited a brothel. Had some fun and left Wano before finding out that one of the woman was pregnant. It’s not uncommon back then for women that works at brothel to abandoned their baby, if they want to keep having clients. Kouzaburo left Wano 55 years ago. We got introduced to Denjiro 41 years ago during Oden flashbacks, he was an orphan in the streets swindling people. That’s 14 years in between, Denjiro looks about that age.

The fact that Oda said 'a certain woman' can imply that her role will be more important than Kozaburo's in finding out about Zoro's or Tashigi's families
