Has Husker fans lost their minds. Coach Satterfield cannot go out on the field and throw passes or hold the ball securely for the team. We have been in games at the end, it's player errors that bite us in the ass in the last few minutes of a game.. if Coach Sat didn't make descent play calls throughout the game , the Big Red wouldn't be anywhere near the points needed to win a game . 3 point losses over and over, is not the OC's fault . Its the lack of clarity on the field by inexperienced youngsters .

Satterfield coordinated five offenses - three at Temple, two at South Carolina - that all consistently struggled with turnovers. Especially fumbles - Temple lost 8, 11 and 11 in 2013-2015, and the Gamecocks lost 13 fumbles apiece in 2021 and 2022. In both years, South Carolina ranked last in the SEC in giveaways

@@TaxinGigs He was bad at South Carolina. Shane Beamer made him simplify his offense down to a handful of pass plays and run plays in the last few games of the 2022 season. Marcus Satterfield wants to run a lot of different sets and plays but he has no feel for the rhythm of the game and doesn't understand how to start with a base offense and slowly add to it. He also refuses to stick with something that is working. He is too smart for his own good and the good of his offense.

O.K. Two posts ago I criticized our OC. I like that he is playing freshman. I like that he is trying to pound the ball on the running game. I like that he is utilizing the fullback and some option plays. The problem is, he’s over coaching. If a running play is working, stay with it and pound it. Don’t throw a slant with a 10-10 tie and four previous interceptions. Let the players win the game. Remember they are playing the game, not the coaches. No, I don’t think he should be fired, but he definitely needs to adjust his style of coaching.

I agree with a lot of that. They said they want to be a running team, especially in the 4th qtr, and they should do that. But, you have to call a few throws. As much as I didn't like the last pass and some other calls, I don't know that you talk about firing someone already. Look at what they are working with at QB. Yes, call more runs!!! But even with that the QBs fumble. Short of taping the ball to their hands what do you do? Not run the QB at all either? So no passing, no QB runs....just hand it off every play? Keep in mind, the QB's have about as many fumbles as interceptions. If you take away even half the QB turnovers, we likely have 7-8 wins, and I think the conversation is a lot different. I don't know who is on the chart behind Chubba, but if they insist on passing, maybe start digging deeper if necessary. I doubt any QB on the roster would be a worse passer than the Sims Haarberg combination.

It isn't the players who need to learn how to win. IT IS THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR.
Satterfield's play calling is disrespectful to the entire team who has worked their ass off this year to learn a new system and improve. Yet, they are unable to because he puts them into situations they aren't meant to succeed with.
With the teams history for interceptions, when there is less than 6 minutes left, game is tied, and you are within FG range... the smart play is to be conservative and get the 3 points. Run as much time off the clock, keep the ball on the ground. Maybe you'll power it in there. With our interception problems, poor passers, suspect receivers; not to mention clock stoppage on incomplete passing... PASSING IS THE LAST THING YOU DO INSIDE THE 10. Take the 3, hope you ran off enough clock, and let the defense do their thing.
Throwing the ball in this situation is how you lose games.

Satterfield tries a square peg in a round hole. It doesn’t fit.
He then tries a square peg in a round hole. It doesn’t fit.
He then tries a round peg in a round hole. IT FITS.
He does it again. Hey! We might be onto something here.
Satterfield: “Sweet. Now take this square peg out there, and let’s finish this drive!”
Just continuously trying to do things you’re not capable of doing is throwing this season away.
He never should have been hired. Just like Sims should never have been taken from the portal. Can we finally, FINALLY close the book on Sims? Please? Finally?
Satterfield: “It’s been a while since Jeff has turned it over. Jeff! You’re up. Here’s a square peg!”

So many better options than Sims in the portal. I don't care what his physical upside is, dude sucked over many starts at GT and didn't stay healthy either. Thompson was better, hell even Smothers was better. We also didn't get a '23 class qb. A decent true frosh would be better than what we're fielding now. Plus yes where the hell is the development? These guys do look worse. So far Satt is looking like the kind of crony hire that has held us back the last two decades.

So better receivers dont want to come to a place that passes 20 times a game and often poorly. Ultimately, Trevs job is to keep the Big Ten cash flow but we cannot retain and attract the players we need. We belong in the Mountain West but will remainflail8ng in the Big Ten because the University wants the money. Its bad for all fans

@@OlgaDuran-bf5cf I agree, he shouldn't be fired this year. However, the QB has not really developed much where as most other positions have. Heck, even the OL looks a lot better than it has in previous years. I'm not thrilled with Satt and think his situational play calling has been really bad. I also question his ability to develop QBs. However, it is year 1 and we have tons of injuries. NExt year, this cannot happen. I love Skers and will always be a fan, I just really want to go bowling this year. GBR

Is it time to fire the OC? or get everybody to simply play one play at a time, One series, One qrt, One complete game at a time. Nebraska cannot string a complete game at a time. Ill agree, the OC is trying to get to cute...KISS method is what's needed here.

Coach S, never runs a QB bootleg and a bootleg pass, which is one of the best Red Zone plays in college football. He never utilizes our two TE’s at the same time, which Matt Campbell has made famous at Iowa State. He also needs to call pass routes that are designed to go to the strength of or QBs. Haarberg throws a side arm to the right. Against Michigan State most are down and outs were to the left. I’m no coach, but some things are common sense. First and goal inside the five and we run a slant. Come on!

  • @TerryColton-g8y
    @TerryColton-g8y ปีที่แล้ว

Our HUSKERS need an identity.. if we're going to be a power I option team, then do it. Don't expect to run an option and then hold Harberg back from going full speed all of the time.
We have 60 years of hard running, hard hitting quarterbacks! It's all part of the game.
The power I out lasted the triple option, the veer, the pro set, the spread.
Our line can't stay with their blocks and several refuse to block down field so let them pull, make the hit and then find a coach who can teach the proper techique.
Harberg is not the problem..he is a sophmore with little experience and poor pass timing.
Who remembers Scott Frost at that age? He couldn't get a pass above his recievers knees his first season, but he wasn't afraid to take a hit or give a hit.
We clearly need a different OC because it is so dishearting and it's a shame.
We have an incrediable group of young athletes with speed, let them run and fly the next 2 games and see what happens.
Satterfield has to go, he's not geared for HUSKER FOOTBALL.

Look part of the problem is when something goes astray we all start screaming for somebody's job....that has gotten us no place in the past....do I like the job Coach Sat is doing....no but I know he has been extremely limited to running with a severely depleted offense...no excuses but we gotta at least give the guy a season or 2 to get the players they want and to teach what they have shown works. I will give them the benefit of the doubt....look bottom line is at the begining of this season if you would have been told we would be 1 win from bowl eligible and still with a chance to win the division by beating Iowa at home.....would you feel the same ?
Just chill, let these guys do what they do enjoy the fact that were on the right track and cheer for the team to do well in these last 2 games....we can beat them both if we Believe and the Team Believes then let the chips fall where they may and enjoy a bowl game trip and buckle up for next season cause its gonna be a helluva ride ! And I wont miss a single second of it

As the OC/QB coach Satt is certainly under question. It is year one. We have a ton of injuries. I have made a lot of excuses for him. Most positions have gotten better, but the Qbs have gotten worse. Sims is certainly worse here then he was a GT. Situationaly he is really bad at play calling and gets way too cute. Johnson's ypc increased during the game. By the end of it he was almost running at 5ypc.
I would love to switch out for a new OC (go get Warren Ruggiero at WF), but it wont happen at least not in year 1. At very least I want Satt back on the field so Rhule can micro-manage him. He has one more year, imo. Seriously make it boring. Go under center, get a fb out there, and run the damn ball. At the beginning of the season Coach Rhule said we were going to run it a lot and land body blows that would pay dividends in the 2cd half of the game. During our wins we did this and we need to get back to this. And for the love of god get Grant off the milk carton. He doesn't belong MIA for most the game. Not with QBs like ours. Then we would have 2 more than serviceable RBs.

He needs to answer some hard questions but firing guys continually isnt working at NEB either. Hes lost lineman, about all WR, top 2.RB's. Now the o line have played OK. Fidone has played ok, but other teams will continue to flood the box to stop the run. We have to have a passing game to a certain degree. Firing guys all the time hasnt helped with development & Continuity ~~Football fans cant handle their emotions. After a lose its fire this guy, bench that guy, this guy sucks, that guy sucks. Now on Tuesday when Satterfield talks to the media..i hope the ask a ton of hard questions. He owes us some answers on some play calling things. Period
