The THINK! dead teenager advert I remember played during Shrek of all things which was just nightmarish for me. Never knew why it was a U? It was great as a kid, but it wasn't great for the guardians as I know my parents and grandparents dreaded having to sit through "a 1.5 hour episode of that stupid cartoon I watched all the time." Perfect for fans, but left nothing for non fans.
It was great, it gave importance to something that mattered very little to everybody else but if you enjoyed the shows it felt like it was made just for you. Then you realize these were cheap cash grabs before the shows ended to squeeze value out of the IP before burying it for ever.
@@NewSonyWonderHappyMadisonFan I wouldn't say cynical, it was just the reality of the era. It's an okay movie, though I do think watching the series adds a lot more to it. Most of the dilemma's TJ and the gang usually faced were usually pretty common for school kids albiet heavily exaggerated from their perspective. Whereas this movie is them literally going against an ex principal turned supervillian, whilst partnering up with the principal who they "thought" was their worst enemy. I may be overanalysing, but I see Benedict as a literal personification of how the kid's saw Prickly, except in this case he's much much worse. I just thought that was interesting.
I remember seeing this at the Odeon when it just came out. I didn't even know they made a film version until Blue Peter showed a clip of it. Being a fan of the show, it was really good to see. Though it was released during a strange period as i started high school a couple weeks later, then 9/11 happened soon after. It was like the 90s era coming to an end.
I still love this movie. It gets me every time at the end when ‘Let the Sunshine In’ plays as Prickly watches TJ run off to enjoy his summer. Now as an adult it’s even more emotional.
I watched this movie only once, but the timing was very neat, it was my summer vacation and both my parents had to travel and all my friends were off so i was alone for a couple of days, just how TJ was, even when it was bland i was engrossed by it It was time after, probably a rerun so the show was already cancelled, it was the conclusion to that part of my childhood, even if it was just a year tops.
I loved Recess and this film. I still have my VHS of School's Out. Still great 😂 I will not have slander about Hunchback II though. I absolutely love that film.
Recess never aired much in the UK. You had to pay extra for Disney Channel so the times I saw it was mostly on CITV or CBBC I believe. It's an inside joke between my family this great American cartoon classic. Always assumed the people who do King of the Hill were responsible for?
Yeah I loved the show as a kid I went to see the film in a cinema and I had it on VHS. I remember seeing it advertised on bus stops. I don't remember seeing that think advert but I remember others on TV. 3.28 Star Trek movies used to do that they would advertise a new movie & have a lot of Music and clips from previous films.
Recess was one of the few shows me and mom enjoyed together. Loved this movie and saw it in theaters (but I didn’t have to worry about that PSA being an American)
I love how this guy doesn't seem to understand the American references in things like the soundtrack and instantly thinks it's weird because of it. I remember seeing this movie after renting it from Blockbuster shortly after it was released on VHS. As an adult, I can't help but feel the kids' parents won't be very happy that their kids are dropping out of camp last-minute. They've probably already paid for it this close to the starting date...
I saw this movie in theaters.......What the f%$@ Where they on when they wrote this film's script?!!? Anyway, it is entertainingly trippy and has a good message...I guess.

Did anyone here see Recess Taking the Fifth Grade, which would take place after the movie?
Yes
Even had the pleasure of all growed down.
I kinda compare taking on the fifth grade to as told by ginger.
Yeah remember when during the late 90's/early 2000's it seemed like every other cable TV cartoon got the big screen treatment just because they could?

I think the smaller character beats and scenes, the treehouse comes to mind, work. The rest is a bit all over the place.
James Woods and Tony Jay as the main villains? Are their henchman voiced by Jonathan Freeman and Brian Blessed?!

This movie's definitely better when you're familiar with the series, given it's meant to be the finale for that (even if it didn't quite end there).
