Here’s a little fun fact about the US release of the first Pokemon movie: every VHS and DVD copy came packed with a Mewtwo card card as opposed to an ancient Mew card.
It’s probably too late to comment but iron giant was one of my first vhs I ever had when I was a toddler in the early 2000s (SN: I can even remember the Tom and Jerry short at the end which actually was my first Tom and Jerry short I have ever watched) and eventually upgraded to dvd when I got a little bit older and I’ve got to say the iron giant is one of my favourite movie of all time.
Some DVDs also had trailer reels before the menu. Also, what's your opinion of having trailers at the end? Edit: I wish that we had the Tom & Jerry cartoon at the end of the VHS version here in the US.
From my perspective, I actually thought it was pretty cool to have extra stuff at the end, as some tapes would just end straight after the feature, so to have something special pop up after that was a fun surprise, especially to have an old cartoon like Tom & Jerry or something. 🙂
8:07. The whole Pokémon anime with Ash and Pikachu is ending and I want to go back in time and see the whole anime with them one last time and stop Pokémon Company from replacing Ash and Pikachu
i thought i was the only one who loved the beginning of the tapes, i collect now and anytime i watch with someone they wonder why i dont skip the beginning, i love the ads
The iron giant is my favourite Warner bros film, because, these cartoon films has fantastic voice cast, good characters and perfect animation as well too.
Tom and jerry short and the iorn giant have one thing that connects them paranoia the iron giant is set during the cold war where everyone was afraid of having a bomb dropped in their country and its the military paranoia that nakes them believe the giant is the enemy and fraidy cat tom is scared of ghosts basically its about how one paranoia can get the best of them
I fancied going through some of the tapes again from a more personal/documentary perspective, instead of the riffing-based approach with the original series.
Clips & VHS covers from “Under Siege”, “Captain Hareblower”, “Friady Cat”, “Singles” & “For Secnt-elemental Reasons” @ 10:57-12:10. Also, happy 100th anniversary, MGM studios
A review series about how cool trailer reels could be? I NEEDED THIS, THANK YOU SO MUCH
You're welcome! It's a subject that needs more love.🙂
Fun Fact: The Iron Giant Is Directed By Brad Bird

@@BacktothePast I agree with you.

Absolutely! That's part of the fun for me - it's like a time capsule of the past with all the trailers/ads. 🙂
I watched the opening to that a few days ago

Bringing this back?

So, what inspired you to come back to this?

You should do Ice Age, I’d love to hear your commentary on it!
There's a fair bit to say about that one, so I'll definitely add it to my list!
Wow, This is a Pokémon movie for all.
You should do The Cramp Twins: Mr. Winkle's Monkey VHS.
I'll definitely add it to the list!
Would you please for a future episode of Coming Soon, do the opening of A Goofy Movie?
Absolutely! I'll probably end up covering a few Disney VHS tapes, so that one should do nicely.
@@BacktothePast Awesome. Thanks for bringing Coming Soon back.
