That’s awesome! Love the piston port induction 2T bikes. I’ve already purchased some of the parts I need and will probably doing some experimenting with throttle body injection on them in the future! 🙃
It is so great to see these ole bikes come to life, after sitting for so long! My first real bike was a 1972 Yamaha YDS7 250 twin! Also my third bike was another YDS7!
That’s awesome! Can’t imagine one of these being a first bike but I hear that a lot. Love these 70s 2 strokes they’ve definitely became an addiction lol!
Understandable! There's definitely a lot of potential points of failure for a single cylinder fire between the seals, gaskets, ignition system, carbs, a mechanical failures but well worth it once it's all fixed and ripping! 🤙
Haha yeah unfortunately my rd250 got a little slap happy after a slight hone and some TKRJ pistons. Now considering an over-bore or getting some 350 jugs, heads, & piston to run in it now.
Fun Video! I noticed the needle jets weren't removed when you cleaned the carbs. I'd pull them apart again and extract the needle jets. They won't come clean in the USC while installed. Check out my video to see how nasty my RD needle jets looked. th-cam.com/video/RUMw_7gPenY/w-d-xo.html
Appreciate that! I pulled the carbs back off later for a more thorough cleaning, fuel/premix definitely likes to gunk up the needle jet, carb body, and choke/pickup circuits. I always try to do a quick clean to get new-to-me bikes running decent for videos before trying to tap the needle jets out incase they try to crack/break off part of the carb body like I've had happen in the past. ✌️
I have the 1972 R5C 350cc version. Looks identical. What a great ride!

@@WreckedRevival , Yes you could ride up to a 250cc on a provisional license at 16 here in the UK , but not now the laws have changed.
Mine was just the same 40 years ago, never did pinpoint the running on one cylinder thing. Drove me crazy.

Some people say its the balance pipe between the carburettors, I don't know I sold it and bought a car!
My first bike. Mine had horrendous piston slap - which I somehow missed in the sound in the this video. :-D

@@WreckedRevival great approach! But now I have something else to be anxious about! Fingers crossed I don’t damage a carb!!!
