I would rather MJ would have actually had a happy childhood without all that and if he would have made it with his brothers to become famous great and in turn turn out without the psychological bull their father inflicted on them. And it’s impossible to describe to you how it was to be there. It was electric. It was alive! It was unmatched by any concerts I’ve ever been to before or after. A little more of the back story, I was a couple years younger than Michael, this was in 1969 and we had just come out of a *TERRIBLE* political decade with the assassination of a president, JFK’s brother, Malcolm X, Dr. King and we were still struggling through really bad racial strife. Then came the Jackson 5!! They brought a lot of joy, fun, good vibes, dancing and wonderful energy to a tired nation! They were also the first black teen idols! *EVERYONE* LOOOOVED the Jackson 5!! I think they really helped bring the country together in their own way! :)
To debut on the nationally famous Ed Sullivan Show and then rattle off *YEARS* of #1 hits in the 70s, and then for Michael to become *MICHAEL* in the 80s was a really interesting period.

I was in the USAF stationed about forty miles from the venue. I went early to hopefully catch them doing a sound check, but that didn’t happen but l was able to be in the back of the theater when they arrived. It was me, them and the limousine driver. This was before smart phones so l wasn’t able to get a picture and l didn’t have an autograph book, so all l am left with is the memories.

Michael was the youngest of the group. The one in the black is Marlon and he is either 1 or 2 years older than Michael.

The other "main" singer is Jermaine Jackson. He had a nice solo career when he sliit from the J5. I went to a J5 concert that included the 5 brothers plus Rand and Janet.

I had no idea there were adults that havent heard these songs. My brother used to listen to who’s loving you when he broke up with his hs gf when i was a kid back in the 90s. These songs were in heavy rotation decades after they came out. I was born 20 years after abc was released and i still know every word

And you actually had soul singers who sang beautifully with emotion.

I had the pleasure of seeing MJ during the BAD tour. You two are right, if the video moved you, seeing him live…. Takes it to another level. You need to react to Forever Came Today from the Carol Burnette show. Amazing choreography!!!!

Great reaction!! Love to go through the MJ journey with you guys! I was blessed to see him live in Buenos Aires in 1993 on his Dangerous tour! I did not know who he was, but the moment he jumped into the stage I fall in love with him! To see him live, to feel his presence, his energy! There are no words to explain that feeling! Love MJ since that day and forever will! ❤

"Who is loving you" was and still is one of my favor songs, but couldn't understand why it didn't get as much play as the other songs. Not a lot of people are familiar with this song until now. My guess, it wasn't commercial enough.

I was 10 years old back in 1978 when the Jacksons performed on the island of Trinidad 🇹🇹.I had to beg my parents to take me to the show;that was the first concert i have ever been to.They were in my opinion one of the biggest performers to our island during the 1970s

He paid a heavy price. He didnt choose this career. He was a one-off.in 1987 i was 5 and 'santa' left mj bad album and a cassette tape player for it, and i remember that christmas crying because i didnt think id ever get to have a whole album of anyone. Il love it til i die. Even now when we drive past our childhood home, my mum gets a tear remembering me and my brother's reaction to having the surprise of the 'Bad' album, and trying to dance to 'the way you make me feel' and 'bad' and 'man in the mirro'r and 'smooth criminal' and the other ones!! great channel, lots of love to you both , youve given me a nice warm reminder of the man and our childhood XXX

Loved y'all's reaction. I grew up on the J5. Michael was 4 years older than me, so he was my childhood crush. And my sisters, cousins, and friends, even though we're all girls, would be the Jackson 5, dance moves and all 🙂. So much fun. Glad y'all liked them.

What you youngsters 4get to realize is without his brothers how far would he have really gotten. It took all of them to make the J5. Yep I saw them at this age on this show and went to all their concerts. Tito was my favorite. He was the lead guitarist, Jermaine who was the teen idol was the bass guitarist and 2nd lead singer. Inspire of what ppl say who don't really know Marlin was the best dancer known as the dancingest Jackson and jackie, the oldest was the one older women liked because of his looks. So deep dive into them it's quite a journey.

Before Motown they performed on the chitin circuit. They’d open for James brown, Motown acts, Jackie Wilson. Those shows sometimes required them to perform 5 shows a night. At the Apollo they performed 5 shows a day for 5 days. They were professionals

Jermaine also has several hits of his own. Back in 1980 him and Michael had the #1 & #2 song of the year, with Jermaine edging Michael for the top spot. His song "Let's get serious" was #1 for 6 weeks. Michael had "Rock with you." #1 for 6 as well.
