    I have owned several TX650 voice recorders for over three years now and wanted to share my thoughts on their ease-of-use and how they perform within a wedding scenario. I'll be looking at things like size and ergonomics, as well as the sound quality of the recorded audio files. I hope you enjoy the review. If you have any questions, please drop them in the comments section and I'll make sure they get answered. Great review. No nonsense, you use it for the video itself and you include real world example footage 👍

      I really appreciate your kind words. I always try and make the type of video I enjoy watching myself and for me, real world examples and practical experience from using a product are what help me to make a buying decision.

    in place of the sleeve, you can also use electrical tape.. leaves no residue and easily removable. sleeves can sometimes cover up buttons and controls on the DJ's mic

    Nice video's, I use both the Sony TX605'S and the Tascam Dr-10L. These are excellent and never had a problem with them so far, the battery life of the TX650's is amazing.

    I was asking me if this model of Sony recorder could be good to be used for a security purpose considering the dimensions and the performance.
    However very exhaustive review man!!

    Great review! How does it stack up if you wanted to record sound (of someone speaking) from a speaker? Much distortion?

  • @GeorgeKalogeris
    @GeorgeKalogeris 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you very very much. Very straight and informative.
    Can I ask how to make the speeches better (more ambient and lower freq) in Audition?

    • @CameraGeeks
      @CameraGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks George. Glad you enjoyed it! I don't use Adobe Audition myself but adding a some bass is always a good idea. In terms of making it sound more ambient...I sometimes mix in the audio from the camera at a very low volume level to give a subtle ambient 'flavour'!

    how do you edit the audio after shooting? I had mine in the grooms inside jacket pocket and it sounds like hes talking into a cone.

    • @CameraGeeks
      @CameraGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey dude. It's important that the mic modules are not concealed or they won't pick up the sound well and everything will sound muffled. Make sure you clip them so the top of the recorder, where the mic modules are situated, is exposed and close to the mouth. You can't hide the mic completely beneath clothing like you sometimes can with a lavalier mic. In terms of editing, I just add a little bass in the editing software and it sounds great!

    In your experience, when you attach this recorder to a microphone sleeve, would people's hand movement ruin some of the sound? For example if someone is constantly switching hands while holding the microphone would that switching of the hands show up in the recording as a loud distortion? Kind of like when you rub your finger near the microphone you can hear that rubbing sound.

    • @CameraGeeks
      @CameraGeeks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. I've use the mic sleeve on around 10-15 weddings now and I've never noticed any rustling myself. I can't remember if people were switching hands though to be honest!

    What about sync with video, when the video is very long?

    • @CameraGeeks
      @CameraGeeks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Nils. I've always used a program called Plural Eyes. It syncs audio files with video files and if there is any audio drift (where it slowly loses sync over extended periods of time), Pluraleyes will make the necessary adjustments and export a finished XML file out ready for editing in Premier or Final Cut Pro.

      I've got a clip that's a bit wobbly now. However, I have owned 7 units for around 3-5 years so I'm still impressed with how well they have performed over this time and sooo many weddings.

    Built in battery...forget it! Once it dies and can't be charged...then you have a paper weight, an expensive fix at a repair facility or it is something to recycle and purchase another one. I only purchase devices with external batteries.

    You could spray the clip on a couple of them white. It's made of metal so should last if you properly key the surface first.
