An excellent discussion about one of the most pressing issue that is dragging Indian progress. This issue consumes most of the energy and resources , Mr Sibal is right that the leadership should carry the opposition and heed expert advice. In the beginning we have to develop economically and not to depend on China for trade .

A couple of things from this discussion. Bharat has an asymmetrical relationship with China militarily and economic. In any conflict, China will obliterate Bharat, but will lose an eye, leg, and arm in the process. Secondly, consensus is a key element of democracy. Unfortunately, BJP’s absolute parliamentary majority in its first two terms made NAMO to be dismissive of the opposition. On the other hand, one needs enlightened opposition leaders as well. RAGA doesn’t measure up to be one. Bharat today needs Narasimha Raos and Vajpayees.

That may or not may not be the case.
But ask these questions to yourself:
      1. Why Chinese economy is much bigger to Indian economy despite being nearly equal in 1980s.
      2. Why we are so dependent on import of electronics, heavy machinery from China
      3. Why Indian manufacturing capacity is marginal compared to China.
      4. Why we couldn't produce indigenous weapons and are totally dependent on Russia, France, USA.
In recent times, Indian govt has been trying to improve and motivate private sector in infra and large scale manufacturing including electronics, solar ,pharma, space, defense etc.
Remember! In the end, real power is derived from money and weapons, and we lack in both.

If Sardar Patel was the 1st Indian prime minister instead of Nehru, India would be a member of the UN Security Council.

Whether you like it or not, why does the Benazir sent a message saying Ladka hua hai meaning the terms are in their favor. These are bunch of loosers they must have asked similar questions to Pakistan as well:)

Sibal Saab, an absolutely riveting show sans political posturing, except little bit of Subrahmanyam Swamy. Dr. Swamy never fails to keep you awake. The other two gentlemen are matter-of-fact type with no political axes to grind. I agree that there is a lot of mist surrounding what NAMO and Dr. JS are doing and not adequate sunlight.

Historically, India lost lots of land during the Congress period, especially in 1962, when Nehru was singing 'hindi-chini bhai bhai' and the Chinese consolidated their position subsequently Congress never built roads or other infrastructure or spent money on the military. On the other hand, Chinese built massive infrastructure, including roads and railway, and created resettlement, which changed the ground situation totally. When Modi came, there was a concerted effort to improve the infrastructure on the Indian side. This was met with protests and cases in Supreme courts. All these experts want a war with China to solve these issues, which China refuses to discuss. A war now will end forever the massive economic developments in India. A stalemate will exist for the foreseeable future. And experts like the current panel will give their 'expert' view without visiting any of the border areas. Very sad.

Yes, sharing with opposition is recommended provided it is really worth it. Here the intelligence / integrity of a guy like Rahul Gandhi is doubtful where the party has an agreement, ie Congress with Communist party of China. He was having dinner at Chinese embassy at the peak of the Galwan crises.
