Hi Zac and Jedd! The TH-cam gods just sent this great sit down to me. I really enjoyed this episode and learning more about Jedd's musical journey. Three sweet guitars played very sweetly!
Another great show Zac. You're the best interviewer of music artist I've seen. You always know all about the artist you interview, you know the gear and you know the music and the business. I watch your shows, I should say I study your shows 2 or 3 times and usually take notes.
I am bingeing on these Truetone interviews , late to the party , but by God , Zac , you bring out the best of these guitarists , phenomenal interviews.
The journey to becoming a great musician is not easy and is different for everyone. I respect how down to Earth and real Jedd is as a person and a musician. You can hear it in his music.
Yet another great and humble player, that you allow to talk and tell his own story. Each of these guys talks about word of mouth "networking" and the value being a good guy as well as a good player. Jedd is another of these phenomenal folks. Very human, very self-deprecating person. All of these guys can relax in your presence, Zac, because you are knowledgeable and intensely interested and ask pointed questions. Which is what they deserve, too. Jedd's tuning might be construed as a modal tuning which works so well with Applachian and Celtic music.
Jeez man, this man has immaculate taste in gear and his technique is incredible. New fan and best episode, by a mile. The last like 20-30 minutes is the best.
I thoroughly enjoyed this interview, as I enjoy all of Zac's interviews. Jedd seems to be such a nice and humble person with killer musical chops. I had previously seen him in some other video settings where it was obvious he has a great sense of humour and loves to laugh but I was taken aback a bit here by how quiet he was and so soft spoken he was. When he was on the Teisco and especially the Telecaster he was a very different player. His fingerstyle approach to the Telecaster was all Telecaster but different. Keep up the great work Zac and keep introducing us to these great players. Cheers
Loved Jedd since the first time I saw the video for "Lovin' All Night" when it was in rotation. Bought Transcontinental when it was released, got to see Jedd at SXSW in 2009 between my own sets, and followed his collaborations with Jeff Senn and Mike Moody/Magic Amplification. So sorry to hear of his struggles and despair. The inherent lack of stability in being an artist/musician can be overwhelming and isolating.
You said it, Zac - that was a real treat! And Paul Franklin's phrase, 'pulling tone', was exactly right, too. I've loved Jed Hughes' playing for a long time. It was great hearing this deep interview!
Transcontinental one of my favourite disks I brought here in Australia . I worked in port Augusta in 1980-81 building the power station and took a drive up to quorn remembering quite a winding road
Fantastic!!! The BRILLIANT Jedd Hughes...Talk about “Truetone”...such an insightful and introspective interview. Thanks Zac. Cheers Marty from Melbourne🇦🇺
Thanks Zac. Another valuable, insightful interview. Jedd is a very talented musician/artist and great to hear his roots/history/story. A wonderful highlight. Cheers, Ky
Santa Cruz has some pretty dreary winter weather--tons of rain and clouds, but it does have California vibes as the spring blooms and into summer! Just get your vitamin D, Jedd!
Wow, flashback! My very first guitar was a Teisco, from about 50 years ago. I recognized the metal striped pick guard. I lent it to a “friend” and never got it back. ☹️ Great video!
I've been addicted to my '90s EHX DMMs for almost 20 years now, first pedal in my very limited effects chain (DMM, CS-2, Paisley Drive, Supermoon Chrome). I depend on its JRC4558-driven preamp as much as its magical repeat tone and subtle modulation. That said, I've been hunting high and low for a replacement as I can now hear how its 100K input impedance masks upper midrange string detail, making it extremely difficult to balance pickups on a Strat, and its footprint prevents me from having a much smaller board as I only use 4 effects. After trying all sorts of fancy delays, I finally stumbled upon the VFE Blueprint. JRC4558 preamp, beautiful delay tone, and control over both modulation depth and rate. It's 215K input impedance is the perfect balance of warmth and clarity. Such a truly amazing and beautiful delay. I think I might even prefer its delay character to the DMM, which is a magnificent feat.
It seems too awful that his first two solo albums fell by the wayside and then that touring West was affected by the covid pandemic! Jed Hughes needs a big solo break - he deserves it!
Zac Childs has to be one of the best interviewers ever…he just seems to know how to get people talking and knows how to shut up even though his knowledge is boundless.
Jedd said that as he always does at night before he goes to bed, he looks online at teles for sale, and right then I knew I found another soulmate. LOL. Haven’t found my tele yet. 😂 but oh man, that one is classic sounding.
Space. No wonder Jedd and Uncle Larry have been such good mates and like playing together throughout the years. Watched a recent Homeskoolin' on Bret Papa's channel with Tom and Guthrie Trapp and after a jam Guthrie says man I love not playing fast. That says it all...
I haven’t read all the comments and I’m sure it’s been said, but.. of course his left hand is great but his right hand is immaculate. The feel, touch, and dynamics is something I haven’t seen often. Jedd vs Tommy Emmanuel would be interesting.
I wish I had my Tiesco. First electric guitar that I had. It really was easy to play. I have no clue what happened to it. I think it got dozed over when the house I grew up in got torn down.
The flame on that Tele is crazy. I don't recall ever having seen that on a 50s body, although who knows, maybe more are like that under the paint. Is it swamp ash?
don't know if read these comments or not...if so...I hope you'll consider doing a episode with my friend Greg Jennings of "Restless Heart" sometime...he's really a diverse player...
Hiya, Jedd. May I respectfully make a suggestion. Why not make contact with Angus and Malcolm Young? Different style but same problems. Besides, it would make one hell of a collaboration. If that's the road you went down. 😂 As for having a monkey on your back. The fellowship will help. The steps work if you work them. ODAAT. You can do this.
Jedd is awesome. I couldn't resist looking up the "Big Bad Bush Bush Ranger" tune. th-cam.com/video/yjAXBg-zzlk/w-d-xo.html I can definitely see how that might be a hard one for his buddies to let go of :-)
Hi Zac and Jedd! The TH-cam gods just sent this great sit down to me. I really enjoyed this episode and learning more about Jedd's musical journey. Three sweet guitars played very sweetly!
You guys just keep pulling out players that I SHOULD know but don't always know. This one was a real gem. Thanks for making it.
Love your channel. Glad you're now hip to Jedd!
Thank you, Keith. Zac
Keith Williams is the man! Five Watt World is the mutts

Thank you. Zac
Jedd is amazing...his story and his music has broken my heart...Thank you Zac...This is my favorite show so far...and I watch them everyday...donny
I remember the first time I heard Jedd’s playing at least a decade ago. Blew me away. Great player.
Goodness that Collings sounded absolutely beautiful. My jaw was on the floor listening to that thing. Wow.
Another great show Zac. You're the best interviewer of music artist I've seen. You always know all about the artist you interview, you know the gear and you know the music and the business. I watch your shows, I should say I study your shows 2 or 3 times and usually take notes.
Thank you, Bruce. Zac

Agreed. Zac
What a great human. Thanks for having Jedd on the show.

I love doing these, and thank you so much for supporting the show. Zac
Never heard a player put so much feeling in his playing than Jedd Hughes.
Jedd is such a fine guitar player, glad I came across this video
Love Jedd...great player ! Jedd in the Shed !
Not until 9 or 10! Why did you wait so long? Seriously, you rock! Good job.
Jedd is a monster player, very unique style which is difficult in a town full of great players. Awesome interview, thank you.
You are so welcome! Zac
Uncle Larry turned me on to Jedd... good stuff!
This is my favorite series on youtube, a true wealth of musical knowledge with every post, thanks so much for doing these.
You are so welcome. Zac
Gday Jedd, you're looking good, andsounding goodtoo. You've come a long way since we gigged together at Dublin, S.A. many years ago.
Scotty.

Another fab interview with a great player that not enough people know about. Thank you Zac.
You are so welcome, Colin. Zac
Great Episode and really nice to learn about Jedd. JB

Inspiring edition Zach, I'm from Australia can and never heard of Jedd before, even when I was in Nashville..... incredible player and guy!
Great interview. Jedd is an incredibly soulful player. Great tone and feel. I love his style.
I'm not sure how many times I've watched this, but it seems like it sounds better every time I do...
Love the Lloyd Loar Mando story. Absolutely classic.
That cracked me up!!
Been listening to Transcontinental all week! Jedd's my new fave! Can't wait for the new album!
What a sweet guy and amazing player. Really love Jed’s story
This is great! So glad you got him on the show!
Me too! Zac
thanks Truetone and Zack...for the introduction to such a dynamic player...I look forward to hearing Jedd's music....
wonderful show case
Thanks for this great interview. Hats off to you and the crew and Truetone Zac! His playing and those bends on the Te 👀 voice of angels I would be 😢
Those bends are KILLER. Zac
Best way to start my weekend! Jedd's album is KILLER! I've been listening to it all morning.
what a cool guy-- so refreshingly low-key and thoughtful, not to mention talented as hell.
Another great interview and episode of the Lounge, Zac. Thanks. Jed's tone and playing are phenomenal.
You are so welcome! Zac

Masterful player! Great tone and captivating to hear. Another great episode.
I keep watching this video; Jedd is just an ace player, super talented guy! great interview
That Teisco is so rad, love it!
Audition for Patty Loveless story is gold, this is how it's done, cheers!
Transcontinental one of my favourite disks I brought here in Australia . I worked in port Augusta in 1980-81 building the power station and took a drive up to quorn remembering quite a winding road
Fantastic interview, great player
Jedd is such a gem!
Hi Zac,

Another great interview. So much wisdom and inspiration from these dudes. Well done!
Wow great interview. Great talent who I have seen with Rodney and Rodney and Emmylou. Also played tracks on Katie Pruitt's new record.
Santa Cruz has some pretty dreary winter weather--tons of rain and clouds, but it does have California vibes as the spring blooms and into summer!
Just get your vitamin D, Jedd!
Superb playing. So musical. Both electric and acoustic playing was outstanding. What a great player.
Couldn't agree more!
Wow, flashback! My very first guitar was a Teisco, from about 50 years ago. I recognized the metal striped pick guard. I lent it to a “friend” and never got it back. ☹️ Great video!
Excellent as always. Thank you

The journey never ends! Zac
This is a great story.
Watched him with Bukovac. Whenever the two get together it is total magic. That lost album needs to be released.
It seems too awful that his first two solo albums fell by the wayside and then that touring West was affected by the covid pandemic! Jed Hughes needs a big solo break - he deserves it!
Jedd and Bukovac just released that “lost” album. I believe it’s on Jedd’s bandcamp page.
This dood brings the phrase, cool as a cucumber, to life. He’s cool 😎.
What great touch smooth & sweet!
I wish I was as relaxed as this bloke.
Zac Childs has to be one of the best interviewers ever…he just seems to know how to get people talking and knows how to shut up even though his knowledge is boundless.
Very kind. Zac
The best guitarplayer to come out of Australia, Emanuel right behind
Phenomenal player. Reminds me a LOT of Justin Weaver's playing.
Another great player. Zac
This was awesome… thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really like this artist! Great sounding amp (del rio?), Tiesco, Tele, 00018. Thanks for the stories!
those teisco sharkfins are so dang cool!
Jedd said that as he always does at night before he goes to bed, he looks online at teles for sale, and right then I knew I found another soulmate. LOL. Haven’t found my tele yet. 😂 but oh man, that one is classic sounding.
This guy is gonna make a musical statement, and SAY something very important, all the honour to him

Crazy swamp ash
That was my Tele originally.
That Collings souds killer
He is the best.
This guy must be a big fan of tame impala. Same guitar from The Slow Rush and same guitar preamp (KTG-1)!
I love my KTG as well
Sick tone
This 57 Tele sounds Killer.
I'd like to seeing Jedd playing on stage with Shifty. I think that it would be a great fit.
I used to own that Tele.
It is a nice one! Zac
I like when you asked Jedd what his plans were for 2020... whoops, change of plans. No one saw that coming.
Jedd is a ridiculous talent!
That he is. The classic triple threat.
Thanks Shawn!
He's ridiculously good.
52:40 that jeff senn teisco sounds stunning
don't know if read these comments or not...if so...I hope you'll consider doing a episode with my friend Greg Jennings of "Restless Heart" sometime...he's really a diverse player...
Doesn’t David Grissom say that about thirds as well?
Think so.
What a gentle soul...no wonder why he's Uncle Larry's best bud...two peas in a pod.
Is this the first acoustic featured on TL?
Jorgenson and Andy Reiss both used acoustics in their interviews also. But a rare sighting. Zac
What brand of cables..??🤔😎
Hiya, Jedd. May I respectfully make a suggestion. Why not make contact with Angus and Malcolm Young? Different style but same problems.
