I paid $16K OTD for my '22 ATAS DCT, in 2022. It had 800 miles on it but also: upper/lower crash bars, bar risers, Corbin seat, 3 piece OEM Honda hard cases, center stand, OEM seat and highway pegs. Since then, I've added many more things (auxiliary lighting, Zumo XT, Bark Busters, Tusk hard and soft panniers, DCT foot shifter, left hand rear brake conversion, tool tube, side stand enlarger, tank bag, protector pads, Altrider headlight guard, fork wind deflector, radiator guards, aftermarket touring windscreen,Touratech chain guard, billet oil cap and dipstick, a half dozen or so action camera/phone/cup holder mounts and a few other, smaller things...LOVE THE BIKE. I've also found it to be very easy to pick up (lowered it to a blanket multiple times, on and off pavement) but, then, I'm 6'3", 225lbs and stronger than average. I can't honestly think of a bad thing to say about it as a one-quiver machine. I have three bikes but will be selling the other two as they are no longer ridden, after buying the AT.
Man a klr just doesnt cut it for me and this is arguably maybe a little more than u need or should be buying. 16k is a lot. Man you csn tell honda loves engineering this bike. Its really well done. I cannot afford it wjthout regretting it
@@Gooby12337 My brother is 205cm and 98kg, he has a 2007 or 2008 BMW R 1200GS Adventure (Which is the tallest adventure bike ever made) and he also has the older and almost as tall Africa Twin. I am 186cm and 90kg. I can ride his bikes with flat foot on the ground but with BMW my heel is up from the ground but very, very, very slightly, I'm basically flat foot on it too.
Thanks for another nice ride with upbeat commentary! I just bought a '24 AT AS ES DCT. (Ain't that a mouthful of alphabet soup?!) Haven't ridden the new bike yet. (Nor any AT.) However, I'm super excited to pick it up from the dealer and ride it home!! I sat on it at the showroom floor and immediately liked it. DCT sounds like something new to try. I definitely wanted Barkbusters, a centerstand, and a toe-shifter. So they're installing those options for me. This will be a couple of notches up the "modern machine scale" from my '22 KLR650 ABS. Your enthusiasm is infectious for sure! Ride safe and we'll see you out there.
I've narrowed in on the Africa Twin after riding my 2014 Honda CB500X with Rally Raid kit for the last 2 years to learn and get better at riding. Biggest reason why i'm wanting to pick one up is because i'm 6'3" 200lbs and ride 2up a lot with my kids or wife so def need the power. I also broke my left foot in 3 places last summer and manual shifting is just not working anymore so the DCT will be a godsend for me.
I have a 2017 dct trico today. Been riding it last 2,5 years and about 20000kms. It’s a totally fantastic bike. So good on gravel and country roads and also on some trickier forest trails 😛 But on mine I think the 95hp engine is too small especially driving highways fully loaded with bags for longer trips. I’m most likely upgrading to a 2023 ATAS next week , knowing it’s only 7HP extra but I could never switch to a KTM1290, triumph 1200 or BMW1250/1300. The Honda is just too good looking and runs so great and reliable ❤️👍🏻💪🏻
I test rode the 2023 Suzuki v strom 1050de and really really liked it, wanted to buy it! The dealer arranged a test on the AT base model with dct, so I rode that and OMG...amazing doesn't do it justice! £13067 v strom 1050de is £13677. They had a ATAS all singing and dancing, black, they offered it to me for £14000 as they had it for a while! I asked if I could test ride, but they didn't have a demo. It's about 50kilos heavier and that worries me as I want to do byroads!
I have a 2020 Twin AS ES and concur with the carplay issues. I have found a startup sequence that works most of the time. Start headset first. Start bike second. Connect iPhone to lighting connector last. This pattern seems to work fairly well. Also, the iPhone Bluetooth must be turned off in my case so my iPhone does not connect to the headset first. Lastly, to get music to play, I always close all apps on the iPhone before I start the above sequence - otherwise the system is confused. I too wish it was so much simpler. Regarding the weight, it is heavy and one does get used to it. I had an accident on asphalt end on last November where I ran over some spilled oil on the road and has traction control set to 2, Bike spun out at 10 mph, fell on my right leg and broke it in three places. While I felt no pain at the moment of impact, the cost to repair my leg cost me three fully outfitted Africa Twins.
What if I only want to use CarPlay for maps/navigation, and not anything audio related - is CarPlay any better in that case? I hope the bikes don’t require you to also be paired to an audio device.
I just bought a 2019 ATAS manual with the Honda quick shifter for 10k 4300 miles like new! I think is a better bike than the Transalp, They had the new 2024 ATAS and standard on the floor and I do like the red with the mountian silhouette looks really good! but I just couldn't pay 6k more for basically the same bike. Thanks for the videos!
I paid $12K out the door and delivered for my new '19 ATAS in spring of 2020. Honda did a one-year same as cash finance and I put five grand down and paid it off in eight months. Perri's Motorsports in Grand Junction delivered it NO CHARGE to La Veta, a 10 hour+ round trip. My wife and I had just sold our old XT600's and she inherited a DR650 from her mother and had just bought a 650 Vstrom. I wanted one bike that would go anywhere that she would go on either of her bikes (she's a Brokaw and hails from a legendary motorcycling family...I'm just chopped liver). Once I test rode the AT, I knew it was the bike for my wants. I'm 5'10, 195 lbs and not a lot of fat. The bike's weight was not a problem, but I did buy the optional low seat. I can almost go flat footed, and for touring I prefer the high position or even the high seat for comfort. The AT doesn't seem big anymore, but most other bikes just seem small. I bought a suspension lowering kit just in case, but never had it installed. I've put about 12K miles on the bike, and the roughest ride I've done is Cordova Pass on the south side of Spanish Peaks. It was a breeze, and I had no problem keeping pace with two DR650's and a KTM300XC. The problem now is that I have a bike that can do out of state BDR's, her Vstrom isn't right for her in the rough stuff, and her DR won't handle the touring well enough. She's content with what she has and enjoys touring, wining and dining or short dual sport rides, but I'd really like to do a BDR with her and a small group. I've also owned a slew of dirt bikes and a KZ1000ST back in the 80's as a Marine in SoCal, then for a spell after finishing my enlistment. Upgrades I've made: Continental TKC 80's, factory panniers and top case, Atlas throttle lock, Auxbeam auxiliary lights, tank bag and crash bar bags...mods I plan on are larger windscreen and a tubeless rim set and a soft, rackless bag set. All said, the ATAS is still my dream bike and I can't imagine parting with it.
I love my 22 ATAS! I bought it so I can go wherever I want and the seat height! Being a taller rider at 6'2" it's hard to get comfortable on an average size bike.
I just got an Africa Twin. I really like the bike. We just got back from Colorado, and the bike did great. I knew the bike was somewhat heavy for the class it was in,luckily I didn't drop it. The thing I hate the most about this bike is how hard the electronics are. I had to go to you tube to figure out how to do anything with it!
I just started riding last year on a Honda ctx700. Thinking of trading it in for an Africa Twin. Im 5’9 with a 32’ inseam so kinda worried about how tall the bike is. Love the look of the bike and the various tech on the bike. Hopefully plan to test ride one soon to see how it feels actually sitting on it
I live in Europe, got a quote for the basic and non DCT version at 15k euro and I added everything on it, except some stickers for the luggage and the side panniers (wasn't interested). Sadly the dealer had only the DCT version available for test and it was awful, especially in the corners (yes, I tried all the settings still felt lagging in corners), my gf complained that on trail roads her spine was taking a beating. Went for the Desert x in the end, liked the retro dakar look and the tubeless tires ( I'm not made of money, i just had the once in a lifetime opportunity to get a Ducati). I still love Hondas and maybe in a few years I'll be owning a Africa Twin.
Good pointers about what you are seeing with the AT. I am shopping for one at this time in Canada and the problem we have up here is we are locked into either the Regular Twin or a full blown Adventure Sports with the Electronic Suspension. I like the size/width and weight of the base twin but would like the new adjustable windshield from the 23 adventure sports and the tubeless tires. And don’t really need or want the larger fuel tank. Nowhere can I find a review with anybody raving about a decent aftermarket windscreen for the regular twin. Fitting up the regular twin with tubeless tires ends up costing more than the adventure sports edition and your are missing out on the electronic suspension. So I think I will likely just end up just going with the full meal deal.
Don't want to get ripped off? There's only one place to go. M&E Honda in Bedford Illinois. They they are mecca for Africa Twin and they don't add dealer prices! They have 27 in stock at any given time. If you know you know and now you know!

Absolutely LOVE your passion and enthusiasm for this incredible bike. Thanks for a great informative and entertaining vid. I have just had a test ride on the top-line AT with DCT and ES - the bike I would ideally buy, just like yours. I'm coming off a 2014 Multistrada which is NOT an offroad bike but was and still is marketed as one. I use 90% on road and the Ducati is beyond awesome in handling and power. Unfortunately, even though I've had it since new, it is less than reliable and quality nowhere near Honda. I'm sick of it letting me down. Only has 3,500kms but has been unreliable since new with oil leaks, malfunctions and zero rear brake(!). Therefore the only thing I can see that the Ducati can offer over the AT is 30% more power and arguably some sharper handling. I found the AT handling to be absolutely everything I'd want and need - nice and light, turn in quickly and very forgiving. The power, after the Ducati, I would describe as 'adequate' and 'acceptable' - not exciting like the 150HP Multistrada. I left the test ride wondering if I'd be happy with the power and for a few days I pondered this. THEN I saw some leaks on the web from a supposedly very reliable source about a SUPERCHARGED AT in the wings at Honda supposedly coming out as the 2024 model. So I'm waiting! A supercharger would be a no brainer as this one is said to be specifically for low-mid range boost, not a screamer like the Kawa H2. Thanks again for a great vid, keep up the fantastic reviews. Cheers from Sydney Australia.

Hey champ question, just bought a new A-T and I’m curious how many auxiliary plugs are available because if you add heated grips there should be a plug under the tank or headlight somewhere but if you also add fog lights, is there another plug available or are you wiring it straight to your battery cause I see a switch on your left side?
Your content seems valid, but the delivery gets off track. Probably because you’re riding off track. Maybe try a nice easy cruise or an audio overlay in editing. Cheers.
Faster than a klr bro. I just dont want to buy one and then need a dental surgury or something and u had eished i bought a klr and still had some money to buy time making payments on the dental surgury with a ride capable of getting me to a job. If i buy this and then if something like a wound infection comes up im going to have a really nice bike but not as easily accessable cash fof if i need a plane ticket or something idk

PSA you can be 5'4" and ride one of these the whole height question isn't needed lol, Joslyn snow is 5 foot rides gs 1250 off-road.
I love my twin!
Those roads are twin territory for sure. NIce vid
Well. An adventure africa twin in denmark costs around 319.000 danish kroner, which comes to around 47.000 dollars... 😂
You had me at the price because when you change the dollar price to the British pound then that is ridiculous
Greta video👍 but if you talking about price and others things then compare it with bmw gs and choice it’s Africa… gs it’s beautiful and best bike but weight it’s what I chose it..
I wired mine straight to batt, as it came with heated grips. But even on other bikes, I go direct to batt
@@adventureundone ya ok. Was hoping something off ignition to avoid battery drain as I’m forgetful 😝
What kind of MPG do you get with your AT?
hi could you send me link with givi windshield what you got please .
Just reading your comment and wondering the same thing.
If you hate it, may I have it? :-)
Maybe do your video….then ride?
are you saying, do like a camera talk, and overlay with riding video? I thought about that as well. I hate the windy sound when talking and riding
No, maybe just get to the point of the video?
Your content seems valid, but the delivery gets off track. Probably because you’re riding off track. Maybe try a nice easy cruise or an audio overlay in editing. Cheers.
The most expensive version in Greece cost 21.550 euro
About Carplay, I run with Android and I really like it. So maybe it's the user that's do something wrong.

i agree everything you say about the transalp, disappointing.
Any paint issue? I hear and see horror stories on Africa twins where the subframe are painted like shit.
no paint issues at all. Now the decals on the plastics did peel a little
@@adventureundone well that’s better than a KTM I once saw on the show room floor. They were coming off and it didn’t even have any miles on it lol.
I like that... the weight is almost as bad as the price lol!
Own one and love it....
The two speedometers are kinda crazy
yeah I use to think the same, but when using apple car play the lower one is handy
Beautiful Forrest
...where is it?
The placement of the air filter sucks, and I hope the transalp filter is under the seat
I haven't messed with mine yet, I probably should and your making me nervous, lol
@@adventureundoneyou will have to take your crash bar and fender off, just to get to the air filter
It's not. I have a feeling it's worse than AT ... 🤦🤦
I'll keep riding my 1k cc vstrom
To bad they've already discontinued it
How to run this bike when u luse keys far away from the civilisation
How do you run any bike when you lose your keys far away from civilization?
Old one easily.
What's the point of an immobilizer in a motorcycle if they'll steal it from you by loading it on a van
If you have a new motorcycle I have a security from the Can bus line no one is able to start this motorcycle even if he replaces the computer in the motorcycle cost of such a device about $300 SEO CANblu.
I recommend everyone dedicated to cars and custom motorcycles
If U don't like the price don't buy it simple
Stop buying apple crap and blame it on honda...
I have owned multiple Honda cars and Apple works gone with them. I even mow my lawn with my Honda mower with my air pods in, perfectly fine 🤣
Too long didn’t watch
Allot of NOT about the title.
😂 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
That cable issue for Android and apple it's a major issue. It's a simple fix too lazy by honda. They have proven you can update the system so let's go
