A lot of people only relate Redd Fox to Sanford and Son, but they don’t realize he was a BRILLIANT Standup comedian who helped pave the way for Richard Pryor, Flip Wilson and so on..❤️
He had all.sorts of famous friends who helped him out over the years. Everyone loved Redd Foxx. He broke all sorts of boundaries! His stuff never got old! A real Pro!
sure he got his due - what are you talking about ? he's one of the most celebrated comedians of all time - there are those who didn't get their due - Tim Wilson for example
79tazman I remember the episode when he Sanford had a Dr. make a house call . And the Dr which was one of his comediene friend. Start examining him, and kept saying humm! Humm! Sanford stated what is wrong. The Doc stated, I DO NO KNOW. And Sanford ask him “paraphrasing” why he do not know. The comediennes ask him. Do you know how many Dr will not tell you that they do not know? And Sanford commented that he did not know. And ask the Dr how many? And the Dr replied,”I don’t know? I bust up laughing. He would always invite his chitlins circuit Comedy Men on his show. SANFORD AND SON!🥰

I've heard about this show for years but have never seen an episode, so to see Redd Foxx, Don Knotts and Billy Barty on stage together for the first time is a historic moment of earth-shatteringly epic proportions! Akin to seeing Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin teamed up for the first and only time in Limelight. By the way, "Bob", whom he talks to offstage at the end, is the late Bob Einstein, aka Super Dave Osborne, Marty Funkhauser and brother of Albert Brooks.
This is the year I was born. Sometimes I think I was born 20 years too late... My dad *was* 37 when I was born... he could've got it done sooner! ...Then again, that would've made my mom too young.... well even if I was born in '67, instead of '77, I still would've been 24, when Mr. Foxx died, so I could've caught one of his 1980s shows... RIP, Mr. Foxx... a *TRUE* COMEDY GENIUS!

@@EmpressKimistryledgend I met Red Foxx in 1975. He was the family friend to a girl that I was dating. I was happy to meet him and he was such a genuine person. One night he took us in his limo to hit some clubs, although we were underage. I remember going to Dean Martin's restaurant and eating. R.I.P.
REDD FOXX was indeed very vulgar, especially for those of you who remember the albums he recorded, i never heard any of them since I was a child during his early years in entertainment world, very sad that he made a very rich living, but over spent by the lavish lifestyle, 😭😔 which would lead to financial disaster with the IRS and so on he tried to return to T.V. work in the early 90's, only to suffer a heart attack while filming his new show, he did not survive 😥 so sad.
If he was still alive there would video on here with him walking around the liquor store clutching his chest with one hand and waving the other one around in the air talking about "This is the big one!" all because they no longer make Ripple.
After. Sadly, Redd was tricked by ABC to do this show only to get him off of Sanford and Son (of which they could never beat in the ratings). When this show failed, the network didn't care. Their work was done.
Shocking bit trivia. During the taping of the first episode, the curtain came up, the audience cheered but Foxx didn’t come out. A producer went back and found him “in flagrante” with his make up artist.
I still watch Sanford and son in 2023 and still love Redd Foxx ❤❤❤❤

WOW! It's a shame this series didn't get a second season. Redd had a pretty good show on his hands and a great comedic cast.
Greatest of them all. You have a special place in my heart Sir
