It's like Lamont found a family. Without Fred. It's the same character. Nostalgic though❤. Love the premise. If you make a life changing mistake, do whatever it takes to correct it.
That must have been a rhetorical question lol. We all know why. Im familiar with all of those channels. Especially MeTv - extra wt with a side of wt. The only one that **could possibly** have the sincere reason for not airing as being bc of the 'series run & ratings' is TV Land. And thts a stretch bc its basically still an known show. It would have never even made it into a consideration phase with the others. As it is, they already stay within the same pop culture, nostalgia shows echelon.
@@brentad2004 Unless u r referring to computer programming over human programmers & djs as being cheaper, thats not it. And trusting ratings as organic is at least 20 yrs long gone, now. U have something ridiculous like 5 huge media corporations owing something even more ridiculous like 95-98% (& Im being conservative) of the stations(both tv & radio) in the US. U r talking about streamlined operations. Homogenization of content, that, particularly with radio, is computer generated (& even outsourced to companies that specifically do this kind of programming). So what u end up with is a domination of the market w the same kind of stations (regardless of genre) > automated, cloned & disturbingly potpourri-like in content. Those Bob & Jack stations where they play a hodge podge of music are excellent examples of that. That episode of Martin where he visits the station after he quits & Sean tells him how its all automated now & that he just comes in every few hours to change the tapes. They really do tell the public about how things are, but they also know thst 99% of the population are either not paying attention or not believing it as actual bc its being presented as fiction. The local news is just as bad now, too. Same copy/script > try finding info about a story from the local news channel's internet sites & see how often its the same, skimpy, detail lacking copy - often verbatim or with the occasional sentence/word juxtapositions. On radio its the same playlists from market location to market location. Even down to timing. I first noticed radio changing back in the early/mid 90s. Im was a channel surfer, so I would hear a group of songs on one station where I lived, then surf to the same genre station in the next city & hear them again, usually in the same order. U could even hear the same classic song on the same station at about the same time for days in a row. Lately, they seem to change programming about every 1.5/2 weeks (Ive stopped listening as much out of annoyance). An the contemporary top hits channels wiil blatantly play the EXACT same set of songs EACH HOUR. That will drive a person crazy if the are somewere stuck listening to that all day. But it does work. U will start to like songs that u couldn't stand at first, given enough exposure & repetition. I think thats a psychological sanity preservation technique. Intentional redundancy masquerading as entertainment & information. Its prevalent that even independent stations use some of these same techniques, but with enough leeway that its less noticeable if u r not paying attention. They dont do payola now like in radios heyday bc the music industry is so homogenized & therefore more efficient at welding their influence over radio. Its basically their full-on b****** now. Even the college stations are not immune. Every now & then u can find a station that doesn't seem to be apart of the media machine. But somehow, if u listen often enough u can see the tells of how they have decided to keep up w the jones of new radio/media.
This series was treated very poorly by CBS. It originally aired from January to April, 1978, and was scheduled to replace Good Times which had been canceled after Esther Rolle left that series for the following TV season. But Norman Lear wanted CBS to give Good Times another season (with Rolle agreeing to return). Since there were no free time slots in the 1978-79 schedule, in order for CBS to bring Good Times back, it canceled Baby I'm Back and gave its time slot to Good Times even though Baby I'm Back had pretty decent ratings. IMO, that constituted a breach of contract on CBS' part.

I watch this every night...They don't make shows like this anymore... Excellent talent ⭐✨👍🏿🙏🏿
I've never seen or heard of this before. It's funny, during the opening credits I was thinking that that looked like the set of 227, and then Pearl popped out!
Lamont!!! And Tootie when She was real little! Sanford and Son ended in 1977, and the Facts of Life started in 1979! Both 2 great shows! Grady from Sanford and son had his own show also that didn't last long.
I actually forgot all about this show
Wow, I Never saw this show as a kid. I was born 1972 in Philly. Maybe it wasn’t syndicated on Philly tv stations? Great cast!
I remember this show. My how time flies . I was twelve years old when this came out.
This was a really cute series that should have gone on longer.
It's like Lamont found a family. Without Fred. It's the same character. Nostalgic though❤. Love the premise. If you make a life changing mistake, do whatever it takes to correct it.
Thanks for sharing! I used to watch this show all of the time as a kid on BET. Still a great show as i remember.
This was My Show!!!!!! I hated they canceled this!!
Thanks for sharing these classics. Wasn't born yet but I love these times everything about it especially the black women. Thanks again!!!!!!!
This show is funny. I don't understand how it didn't make it on the air for the duration. I think CBS cancelled it after 10 episodes.
I was born in '76 and never heard of this show! 😂😂😂😂😂
It wasnt on long, but when BET reran it, you'd think it was on longer.
Why this not on Antenna Tv or ME TV or TV land they keep the same ole one on why not sumthin different..
It was a pretty short-lived series for one...lasted only one season.
Ratings & money.. it's just like why do radio stations play the same songs when there are thousands of good songs out there.

Unless u r referring to computer programming over human programmers & djs as being cheaper, thats not it.
Those shows are popular and well known. Sanford and Son , Jeffersons, Good Times crossed boundaries
So he comes back for his family and he's employed where??? What was the plan to take care of his family again?? I missed it!!😂😂
I watch all the episodes they were good 💯
I.miss this!! Bring back old memories!!
Before 227, it was Baby, I’m Back ... starring Helen Martin & a Young Tootie!!! 🤎
Good to know, 227 was always my favorite show and I see some of the characters in this as well.
And before this, was That's My Mama (1974), starring Clifton Davis, who later starred in the 80s show, "Amen"
Hold up….
Is this why Scooter (Living Single) always said the phrase “BABY IM BACK!” in reference to Kim Fields on this show?
I know lamont was pissoff like sanford and son was on tv before good times n I don't get respect
2023 BABYYYYYYY 💙💙💙
I WAS 8 YRS OLD BACK THEN 😊
